I just watched this again - it appears at first glance that Bryant Gumbel is rehashing the old stereotypes, but what he's actually doing is allowing Lyman to smash those stereotypes - you can see Gumbel knows a lot of terms, he has done his research. Outstanding journalist, IMO. This is such a great segment, and a reminder of how things used to be when the morning shows (and general life, IMO) used to be less craziness and insanity.

He still does Real Sports! There are still some real journalists out there - and a lot of people who are just trying to get ratings by pretending to be journalists.
I went to J-school and you can tell - well, I can tell - non-journalists use a lot of weasel words like "feel" and "Seems" and make judgments regularly (it's inevitable a human will make some sort of judgment eventually). In journalism school they beat your opinion out of you when you're writing a story. Real journalists get out of the way and the story, or the hero, the villain, the jackass speak for themselves.
