The “normal” flu has killed over 20,000 this season already....to put things into perspective

    Quoted from Zablon:

So we need at least 20,001 to die first before we consider it an issue?

Look at the numbers of how many people die each day of various forms of death, and ask yourself “why is this one more important than others”.

    Quoted from Zablon:

I have, and common sense tells me that an unknown virus with unknown outcomes is something to look at pretty closely and stop before it does get bad. The majority of those 'other deaths' are not spread to others. I think where people are getting hung up on numbers is where the mistake lies. We don't want to wait until it is as bad as the flu or anything else.

Medicare is planned to go bankrupt in 2026. Medicaid funds are drying up. Looking at the ledger sheets, a dead Medicare/Medicaid beneficiary means no future fiscal obligation. Millennials don’t care about boomers anyways. So why not spread a disease to extinguish the group causing the most expensive health care expense.

Washington Nursing Home lost what? 30 residents? Let’s call it that for easy numbers. Assuming they are all Medicaid (the vast majority generally are), and the average monthly cost to Medicaid per resident is $5,500. That’s $165,000 per month, and $1,980,000 per annum.

There are 233 nursing homes in Washington state. Let’s say the other 232 each lose 30 residents. That’s $459,360,000 per year. A half a billion dollars savings to the State of Washington Medicaid program. A half a billion dollars that can be used for millennials free stuff with socialism.

    Quoted from Rarehero:

The true issue at hand is crowding of hospitals. If too many get it at once, hospitals are fucked.

The reason that hospitals are screwed is because of for-profit mentalities driving their business decisions, based on declining reimbursements from Medicare and Insurance companies. The Affordable Care Act put the insurance companies in the driver’s seat of how health care is run. Declining revenues have forced hospitals and hospital systems to operate leaner and meaner, in order to maintain their margins. This means less inventory (viewed as waste), less staff, and less operational beds.

Healthcare used to have excess bed capacity which could have quickly been put back into service to absorb a pandemic demand on their resources. But now they are running so thin that there is little margin for error. The knock against healthcare was for being “inefficient” and “bloated”. But in healthcare, there needs to be some degree of excess, underutilized capacity for times such as these.

Currently, LTAC (long term Acute care) hospitals have been shuttering due to reimbursement cuts. LTACs have been the biggest part of the health care systems taking care of respiratory conditions post acute. Not a good time for less of those beds to be unavailable when pneumonia is the greatest threat from covid19.

In case anyone has realized...coronavirus presented itself in December in China. When did it get here? Late January or early February? That‘s only 45-60 days of a brand new virus that has never been seen and/or tested for before. To be where we are right now with our national response, local/state/federal, is pretty amazing and shows how great we are as a nation.

Im looking at my liability policy.
I do have business interruption insurance.
Im calling my agent to see if im not going bankrupt in tbe event of a forced closure.

I saw on news tonight that Pandemic is excluded from those policies.

That's all fringe conspiracy people. The world doesn't need those grifters, now especially.

    3 Days of Darkness

    THE PROXIMATE SIGNS

Here are the proximate signs in their probable order of occurrence:

Flouting of church laws, irreverence and immodesty in church, fall in attendance at church. (These trends were observed in the 1950's, before the true Church was criminally usurped at the Oct 26, 1958 papal conclave.-ED)
Lack of charity towards others, heartlessness, indifference, divisions, contentions, godlessness, pride in human knowledge.
Breakdown of family life: immorality, adultery, perversion of youth via the media (e.g. homosexuals giving lectures in schools), immodest fashions, people concerned only with eating, drinking, dancing and other pleasures.
Civil commotions, contempt for authority, downfall of governments, confusion in high places, corruption, coups d'etat, civil war, revolution. (The first four proximate signs have already come to pass, at least partly; for we are yet to see civil war and revolution in the West. But the sequence of events is not strictly chronological; there is room for some overlapping. Thus, the 5th proximate sign seems to have begun also.)
Floods and droughts, crop failures, unusual weather, tornadoes, earthquakes, tidal waves, famines, epidemics, unknown diseases (e.g. new strains of viruses).

    Quoted from frolic:

Like for example, we discussed what we would pay to go to an amusement park that had so few people we were riding alone on rides.
How much would I pay to go the the movies and be the only family in the theater?
What would I pay for an arcade to give my family exclusive access window?
Fine, I am not "typical", but there are people like me out there, so why not serve them and serve your business at the same time?

As far as I know, only movie stars, music stars, and sports stars can afford to rent out entire entertainment venues for personal use.

The only way to describe this pandemic situation, and it applies to any part of it:

    It’s a fucking mess!

    #587 4 years ago
    Quoted from frolic:

During normal times. But when families aren’t vacationing, or doing anything, then that frees up cash to do some wild things if the right intriguing offer comes up.
All I know is that it’s already a conversation in our house because months of house arrest ain’t going to be fun.

Well....if you can afford to rent out a big place for a few people, more power to you!

    #589 4 years ago
    Quoted from BFGoodflip:

My and many other operator’s problem is we have no stake in the business our pins are in. The logistics of that are monumental... I think it’s a fantastic idea for owner/operators and arcades/barcades but the rest of us just can’t without an added strain on our businesses or theirs... that said, some money is better than none, and at the price you mentioned for a package, I would happily organize And supervise that. But it’s about what I’m charging for a month of home rental... which is a better deal?

So here’s a question for operators with games in someone else’s business, like a pizza shop, bar, etc. If that business goes under, and they padlock the doors, what happens to your equipment? Can you get it out, or does it become embroiled in a lengthy bankruptcy proceeding?

Longer ppl fight this, the longer we will have to do it.

According to mainstream media...it’s never going away. We will never have a vaccine. And, it’s going to be deadlier in the fall.

Had to get a shirt, of course.
Oh yeah, and renewed our vows with the King.

How is a gas pump or ATM any different that a pinball or arcade game? Everyone touches the same gas handle. Everyone touches the gas pump keypad numbers for zip code. Everyone touches the touchscreen.

I don’t see any gas attendants or bank tellers wiping down these things between every customer. Granted, these are outside....but everyone’s fingers are touching the exact same spot over and over again.

And restaurants? So..we wear a mask to go in and walk to the table and then everyone takes them off immediately when seated to eat. Even if people are sitting every other table, there is a half full room of people breathing and coughing and sneezing inside the same HVAC area.

    It’s a mess

It funny....gas pumps have touch screens, key pads, and handles that everyone touches, yet there’s no disinfecting going on with those items. Aint seen any gas stations closed down or media causing fear with the public about them being superspreader locations.

I know a family of four very close to me that had two people get/test positive for covid and the other two test negative. They live in the same house, are extremely clean (the lady of the household is borderline germaphobic), and always wear masks/follow CDC guidelines when going to public places.

I just wanna know how two people in a family of four, living closely in a small house, taking long drives in a car together, using same bathroom, etc. contract the covid, when the other two do not. How in the hell is that possible for such a contagious disease???
