I could be wrong but I believe New Mexico is pretty close to the top of the list when it comes to the severity of covid restrictions. I see states saying they are starting to do things that we have already been doing for months. So if you want an idea of what might be coming to your state here it is.

All restaurants that want to offer indoor dining (limited to 25% of max capacity) must take a Covid Safe Certification Course. When the business receives their certificate they must display it.

All employees must agree to random covid testing.

If an employee tests positive the business is required to shut down for a minimum of 2 weeks.

When someone arrives for indoor dining they are required to have their temperature taken, provide their name, phone number, and date and time they came in. The establishment must keep that information for a minimum of 3 weeks.

Any place that serves alcohol must be closed by 10PM.

No roaming is allowed. So bars can't be open because people wouldn't be allowed to walk up to the bar. No playing games because that would require roaming from game to game.

Then of course all the obvious sanitation, mask wearing, and social distancing requirements.

Apparently I can be open. Starcade sent this screen shot to their Facebook page.

Starcade is a video game place opening soon in Roseville.

I saw your post that says you think you can stay open but I sent some money your way just in case you can't. I hope you don't actually need it and can use it towards something else instead of just trying to keep afloat. I also bumped the thread from the beginning of all this.

You earned the respect of many pinsiders. You contribute, problem solve and basically make the whole website better. Do everyone a favor and set up a go fund me. If everyone you helped solve an issue donates 10 bucks, you will make it thru covid just fine.

I'm good for now. When I posted that it looked like I'd be closed again.

After sifting through all the pages that are up about this from the state. I can be open. A little more reduced occupancy ( not a problem ) and no consuming soda pop, candy, or food, after 10pm. Pop or candy I sell or that people brought in.

It’s too bad that several states are playing a game of follow the bouncing ball as far as rules. AZ was doing that a few months ago. Rules/guideline changes every several days it seemed. The hardest part was the info flow down was not well done. Bars were closed when they could have been open for at least several days but the way the info came out, and then changed was not effectively sent out. Keep on keeping on as best you can everyone.

    New regulations hit Virginia today.

Public and private gatherings 25 people max. Was previously 250.

Ages 6 and up masks required indoors. Previously 11 and up required.

Violations are now Class One misdemeanors. Up to 12 months in jail, fine up to $2,500, or both.

Establishments selling alcohol must cut everyone off by 10pm.

Looks like we dodged a bullet with this one; we can remain open through the holidays. We've been maintaining a 15-person limit which is below the threshold and have long since ceased all concession sales & special event nights with alcoholic drinks.

If people had simply masked up from the get-go, we wouldn't be where we are today. :/

Here in MN we have been one of the most mask compliant in the country and it doesn’t seem to be making any difference as of 10pm tonight we are rolling out very similar restrictions.

Keep in mind, the age group with the largest number of cases in MN is 18-35 and the largest number of cases come from bars and restaurants (where you probably won't be wearing a mask).

    #1266 3 years ago

So many other ways it spreads masks don’t do much in my opinion. We all wear them in the U.K. and it did not stop the second wave at all. Only thing that stops it is to literally stop people leaving there houses.

    #1268 3 years ago

The issue is indoor ventilation and filtration. Or rather, the lack of it. That's the #1 culprit. Still not being dealt with on a national level.

You're likely safer in a well-ventilated room with no mask, than a non-ventilated one with a mask. Both is best of course.

We can require mask use, but if businesses aren't handling the indoor air issue, masks won't be enough.

A vaccine might make all of this moot in a year or two, but regardless, indoor air quality has long been ignored. Let's deal with it now. Besides, it could be an issue again when a new breathable superbug shows up.

Ventilation and filtration is also good for knocking down the other stuff... colds, flu, pollution, carbon dioxide levels, offgassing, etc.

In the meantime, get an Air King QuFresh installed in your house! Brings in fresh air whenever it is within acceptable humidity/temp range. Cheap and effective upgrade.

Masks help more than you think to contain the spread.
But, people should also just relax and not feel the need to leave there houses everyday.

I was in a really strict town in NC a couple months ago and wearing a mask was mandated in public. But by the end of my stay found a loophole. You don’t have to wear a mask if you have a drink in your hand.

    #1277 3 years ago

I know a family of four very close to me that had two people get/test positive for covid and the other two test negative. They live in the same house, are extremely clean (the lady of the household is borderline germaphobic), and always wear masks/follow CDC guidelines when going to public places.

Disney World had this rule, and so many people were just carrying around an empty coffee cup just to say that they are drinking and don't need a mask. They then changed the rule that in order to drink you had to go to the edge of the path, stop, and take your drink. It is people cheating the system that are making things need to be more restricted for everyone.

We are going back to Phase 1 here in New Mexico. Tomorrow, all non essential business must close. Just like before, the situation will be reassessed after 2 weeks and if it's getting better, we'll open in phases. If we aren't improving we stay locked down.

Sorry for those whose businesses are effected it’s terrible. I’m a big proponent of mask wearing. Been wearing them religiously, required for my job. I work at a power plant so I’m ‘essential’. We have to social distance. I have my own office. I check my temperature everyday before I leave for work. Work checks it on the way in for everybody. Wash and sanitize until my fingers crack and split like a good little doobie. Anyways I’m on day 6 of COVID. For me, it’s absolutely terrible. I’m lean. I eat healthy. I’ve never smoked anything. I hardly ever drink. I work out like a nut. 1 hour a day. And this is whooping me. 101 fever every night for some reason. Extreme fatigue. Light headed, short of breath. Now I’m coughing and sore throat. Zero treatment unless you need to get admitted. I hope none of you have to go through this.

    #1288 3 years ago

Geez... preschool-8th grade air is safe but high school/college air is not?

Sounds like some of our local representatives are really grabbing at straws with this. They're still not getting it. We can't go bowling in a giant venue, but we can go to the corner gym where sweaty people in close proximity will be violently inhaling and exhaling??!!??

Why are we not following the science? Science always wins. Always has. Always will. Science is reality.

    So, why not this?

    1) Masks required indoors. Always.

    2) Masks required outdoors in crowds/close proximity group activities. Otherwise recommended but not mandatory.

    3) If indoor business has sufficient ventilation and/or extensive MERV13 filtration, exempt them from shutdown as long as masks stay on at all times and physical distancing/maximum capacity limits followed.

    4) If masks cannot stay on at all times (like bars and restaurants), only allow them to remain open if they meet strong ventilation/filtration standards or can eat outside. Otherwise do pickup service only.

    5) Essential/critical businesses exempt (of course).

Does it need to be any more complicated than this? Oh, and don't even think about going to the gym unless it is very, very heavily ventilated. Most are not. Beware.

Not about the air, it's about parents of littler kids not having anyone to watch them on short notice.

But you're right about the air quality. Breathing hard in an (still open!) gym is likely to have a greater chance of spread that a few people quietly sitting (apart) in a theater, which was designed to move air for a full audience.

I just wanna know how two people in a family of four, living closely in a small house, taking long drives in a car together, using same bathroom, etc. contract the covid, when the other two do not. How in the hell is that possible for such a contagious disease???

The mask wearing reduces exposure but doesn’t protect against anything. 7 people at work got it. All wearing masks all day long. Including me and I’m the supervisor so my “contact” time was minimal.

It is possible to be exposed to it enough for your body to create antibodies, but not enough for you to "catch" it and start spreading it (or to have an immune system that fights it enough from the start that you are not communicable but get immunity to it).

My wife who I sleep with didn’t get it. My 2 children don’t have it. I’m the only one. I got symptoms at 1100 and they came all at once like getting run over by a truck and I went home. I slept with my wife the night before. We breath in each other’s faces all night long. Gave her a kiss goodbye that morning. By lunch I could barely function. It was like driving drunk trying to get home.

Additional restrictions coming to MN Wednesday 6 pm.

Expected to include cancellations of youth sports and “is also expected to include additional restrictions for bars, restaurants and fitness centers due to the rising rates of COVID-19 in the state.”
