I thought this might be a fun restoration thread. About a year ago I was picking up a few future restoration candidates from John and Nick at Cadillac Music. I noticed that there were several Taxi's sitting in the racks. They were pretty blown out and obviously retired due to a long life of service. Shortly afterwards Taxi playfields were reproduced. I called John and said what's with the Taxi's. What say you give them to me and I will make two nice ones out the four, one for you one for me. We agreed an so it begins.

That place looks like a treasure trove of fun projects.

How are they fitting without hitting the wheel wells? A+ for loading all 4 on there!
Also, your jedi mind trick of getting 3 free pins by refurbishing one is equally amazing

The key word is "Project"

Yeah, I'm not so sure this is the deal it appears to be to some. Cool project nonetheless. Good luck!

Seriously, 4 Taxis just hanging out in a warehouse? all high and dry? Crazy talk. How do I get access to that stash? What is the story?

You're correct. Everyone sees four Taxi's. The reality is quite different .There will be a boatload to do to make these come together. I love the challenge.

I am half way doing the exact same thing. Nice to follow the progress. I have a new playfield, Marilyn screened back glass, all new ramps, plastics, topper, and just about every piece on the playfield.

#25 5 years ago

Thread saved as favorite, I'm looking forward to the progress!

That's quite convenient!

#31 5 years ago

Are you parting out two of the games?

How do places like this exist where they just have old pinballs sitting up in racks?

#32 5 years ago

After the two are restored we will decide what to do with the others.

#33 5 years ago

Keith I could use a cabinet. I want to make a Virtual pin. Keep me in mind if you guys decide to get rid of the cabinets.

I was able to make one operational. I'm using it to check other boards until we get a 2nd CPU.

skypilot,

I have one em stripped down and am nervous about keeping track of all the pieces, can't imagine the organization required to track four machines worth, even if you only need two complete

Looking forward to the progression.

C'mon now - you are supposed to replace all the braid and all the sockets

Keith buy ground braid from pinrestore but I don't replace sockets either but ground braid yes have fun with the project. I buy the big roll of it to do cabinets.

#47 5 years ago

Stephen, I was pulling Weir's leg. I always run new braid on my cabinets. I guess I didn't see the advantage of replacing the PF braid, but you guys are right.

#48 5 years ago

Ok, I have to subscribe to this

Looking forward to the progression. Best of luck to you!
