Joined the club this weekend. Wet sanded and buffed. Turned out pretty good but I think I may spray the next one (TZ), this was practice.

I've been having issues with the last two cans of Spraymax that I've used. First time, I assumed the can's pressure was not quite right but the second can did the same although to a lesser extent. The first can was something that I had on the shelf, it was never activated until I sprayed it. Second can was from a new order but date stamped 9/2018.

I'm spraying on a horizontal surface and I get drops of clear falling onto the surface. Am I expecting too much from a spray bomb when it comes to a horizontal spraying surface?

Last several cans did not drip. I'm really liking the SprayMax lately, significantly less overspray than using the gun. I got a 6 pack off of Amazon which brought the price per can down to around $14.

Quoted from PinballAir:

Wow, that's cheap.
I like there is little to store and nothing to clean up.
It is expensive if you want to level inserts.

Yeah...I still have the stuff for the gun that I can mix up in very small batches for leveling.

No.... Not more talk about dimples. Keep the dimples out of here.

Yep, spray in a cup and use an eye dropper to deposit into the depression.

Quoted from semicolin:

Isocyanates are no joke. There is no way these should ever be used in your home, even with brand new OV cartridges. Holy moly.

Where's the video of the dude spraying in his basement without a mask?

Orange peel and solvent pop are two very different things. Orange peel is small lumps like an orange... Solvent pop is craters almost like something popped just under the surface.

Quoted from McSquid:

I would have left them on if I never intended to take them off again. Wood looks good with clear on it

Clear the rails separately if you like the look.

Quoted from gdonovan:

Some are not screwed, staples.

Just seems lazy after all the work stripping the field to not remove 10 more screws and\or some staples.

Quoted from PinballAir:

It is his game I think he should be able to do what he wants.

Reminds me of a car that I saw at the gas station yesterday... It was rusting around the wheel wells but they put blue duct tape over it, blue car looked fine until I was about 20' away.

You're supposed to clear over the waterslide then sand and polish everything.

Quoted from Jeffreyjonesbsme:

I need some opinions on what you do after you spray.
I don't have a perfectly clean environment and often get a few specks of dust into the clear.
I've seen multiple opinions and how and when to do the next steps, but I want to hear from you.
Thanks

wet sand and buff.

#1430 2 years ago
Quoted from Jeffreyjonesbsme:

I was hoping for more details.
Sand the whole playfield or just the specks?
What grit to start and end?
How long to wait to sand?
How long to wait to polish?
How do you polish?
What equipment do you you use and what products?

1200,1500,2000,2500,3000 then use compounds with the buffer. Do the entire playfield. If you have a lot of roughness then start with 1000 grit.

rotordave what is this mm you speak of

#1520 2 years ago

rotordave not this engineer

It actually sucks using both. Square root k over m... That is meric but when I'm thinking a measurement... I have no idea what a mm is

Found this in my paint cabinet. Forgot I bought it last year before I moved. How long is this stuff good for?
