Get busy living, or get busy dying....We are finally tossing caution to the wind and gonna attempt to build in these crazy times....We are calling the project the ShawShack Redemption (last name and it literally feels like a scary murder shack). The place is a vintage Florida home on the intercoastal waterway in Cape Canaveral my wife found and talked me into leaving my dream place in Evergreen, CO. Moved over to its own thread from Gameroom pics thread

Also for those unfamiliar with our last project here was the final video I made of the CO house

Funny story with that sign - apparently since the property has sat vacant for so long, a few locals had been bringing ladies of the night back there for years....our agent caught one doing it and he said just that. Since the high tech security sign was added we havent had the issue again

Your Tron better be the entrance again.

Awesome project just watch your finished floor elevation with the proximity to the icw. Welcome to Florida! We are hosting our annual pinball tournament/party next Saturday 12/4 in Deland about 70 min drive. Good way to meet several Florida pinball collectors. Pm me for details if interested. Good luck with project will be watching for updates.

Wish that was possible but that pretty much is a permanent fixture of the house we sold....I'm planning on another secret door entrance but I highly doubt we come up with a theme integration that works as well for an arcade entrance as the secret Tron door.....

I just made my way through the other forum and was in awe of your old setup with the secret entrance. Can’t imagine having that as my setup and moving away. I’m guessing the buyer got to keep all the pins and games as part of the purchase?

I’m looking to convert my unfinished storage room into more of a game room. For your old one was there another non-secret entrance (for say, fire and safety reasons) or was through Tron the only way in and out?

Waldo Do you have any progress happening?

No building is extremely slow right now. Plans are in engineering and I think permits are being filed….

    Following this for sure!

    #17 1 year ago

It’s been a slow process. Permitting took forever. Cape Canaveral didn’t know exactly what to make of our plans. Hurricane IAN also did some unwanted modifications. He could have helped and knocked down the house but instead decide to remove the dock and put it in the neighbors yard. But Demo starts 11/3 and should be a steady pace for the next year.

    Nothing major. Small changes.

    2nd try is the charm.

Demo will start in earnest on Monday. They will work on clearing the lot front to back and take the house at some point.

Any plans for a hidden entrance or anything? Or better yet, maybe best to not mention and we can possibly be surprised…

    #37 5 months ago

Probably a few more months and we should be starting to fill this room up, albeit pretty slowly as the build is way over the original budget. The pics don’t really do the effect justice, it’s almost hard to walk on the carpet, it messes with your eyes. I used genuine 365 nm black lights which is mostly UV light so very little visible light. I think adding the machines will be a nice source of additional light. The outlets will change to black once the builder hands over the house.

Of course, much to the dismay of my builder. It hasn’t been an easy process. Still working on getting the fit and finish correct on it. Too early for pics / videos.

Today was a great day. The wife and I have started a morning sunrise ritual the last few days of a beach side walk down to the lot from our townhome (about 2 miles).

As we arrived this morning the sod truck was already unloading. Spent the day cleaning up last few remnants of debris from the old house while they worked on laying the new sod. The appliances also showed up today and our upper Trex deck was also completed. They didn’t quite finish the entire lot before they ran out of sod or time. But I still gave the new irrigation system a work out and enjoyed the sunset.

All three of us (Nugget, wife and I ) very much enjoyed just how much the sod really made it feel so much closer to being completed.

nice.. another killer entry door I don't think it beats the experience with the tron door, but stellar job on the whole place!

Unfortunately that door was very problematic. I wasn’t up for that complex again.
