Awesome! Just about to embark as well!

Glad to see this. Got one that I need to do once I get used to the idea of having it out of the line up that long. Marked thread as a fav since I am sure I will want to come back to it often.

#4 10 years ago

Thanks for the comments guys - keep coming back as there will be lots more pics as I rebuild it

I'm a third done stripping mine. Looks like I'm gonna replate the habbit trails. Hope I can get it all back together!

#8 10 years ago

Ugh. Set screw on right diverted is stripped!

#9 10 years ago

Use flipper end stop hex bolts much better and you can get them tighter

#10 10 years ago

Will do. First gotta figure out how to remove this one. Tried drilling but very tight angle. Craftsman sells a removal kit I'm hoping will work!

#11 10 years ago

Stripped screws on teardowns drive me nuts. I had 3 when I pulled Elvira apart, had to brute force them.

#12 10 years ago

Got the diverter off by cutting through the set screw and hardware with my Drexel. Already have replacement parts on order. Ugh.

#13 10 years ago

Drexel. Stupid autocorrect.

Dremel!

How did you use the grinder and polishing wheel to clean the metals? Can you provide instructions with which wheels you used? Did you use a drill?

#16 10 years ago

HI Carl694

No I used a bench grinder with polishing wheels on it. Three different wheels used. A sisal mop first with a grey polish bar, then a medium mop with brown polish and then finally a finishing mop with a green bar to get the high polish on them. Works well but takes quite sometime!!

Just shopped my shadow a volume weeks ago. Took 10 hours to strip, clean, replaced with new plastics, and put back together!! Love this game!!!

Doing mine now. Have some sanctum wear - but I'm not going to fix it at this point. Just took the habitrails off and sent to Mike C. for him to do this magic.

Game will look great when put back together. Bit worried about my diverters and the coil shaft, bit of wear down there.

Great work! I bookmarked your page as I'm going to be tearing into mine pretty soon here.

All the pics you posted will be handy for myself when removing & reassembling. Thanks!

#24 10 years ago

If I don't have any sanctum wear, should it put Mylar on it to protect it?
