I'm over at my friend's house and his shadow pinball has an issue with the left diverter. We replaced the coil sleeves and it still acts like this. When the diverter is all the way to the right side then it will move to the left like it's supposed to, but not if it's in the middle. See video here

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Thanks!

Looks like the mech is binding when the lower part goes right ( the direction the finger pushes it into place ) and isn't in the correct position to snap back the other way.

I'd snoop around below the playfield and look for anything obvious. Worn, broken, bent, loose.

Mine had this problem. I found the root cause was my TS was missing#12 on both mechs. The diverters still worked ~80% of the time but sometimes wouldn't snap all the way to one side. Installing this spring fixed the issue.

Marco sells the spring:

I'm wondering if this is the problem. I found that the could back plate was not perfectly up against the coil. I took it off and found that the metal is splitting. The spring seems good.

Actually.. it works fine from under the playfield.. it must be how the Allen screws are gripping the shaft from the diverter?

This, it is probably binding or the Allen screw was not tight enough. Over time the Allen screw eats away at the shaft of the diverter and it won't get a good bite on it any longer.

I had similar issue with my shadow. Just had to tighten the screws. Shaft was slipping.

The screw is all stripped.. we can't get it to move. Not sure what my friend plans on doing. Thanks for all the help.

I had same problem a few years ago, tried drilling it out but didn’t work out and ended up hacksawing the shaft and putting a new divertor in.

Also that earlier pic of the metal starting to break for the coil stop/bracket — typical break point, maybe weld it now? I can’t remember which but one bracket mech is available and the other is close to unobtanium for some reason.

Not really an option now since they are unobtainable.

Could have sworn I’ve seen them for sale somewhere, huh

Not anymore, unfortunately. The NOS stockpiles of them probably ran out.
