After a good bit of downtime, I've finally got my Shadow at 100%, and have been playing the crap out of it.

What a unique and very good game this is.

Quoted from SealClubber:

I just installed this plastic in my Shadow and it looks great. Expensive but it does look good.
Ebay link
Super easy to install too. Just remove the 3 domes and the ramp return. Took about 5 minutes. I put on blue domes on mine.

I really like that, and think it looks more factory than the game does WITHOUT anything in that spot.

That blank back panel always seemed woefully unfinished.

...and I just bought one.

Like Aurich's translite, that back panel plastic just looks like it belongs on the machine.

Quoted from Aurich:

I haven't played with it. I've got the brick decal back there so I guess I haven't felt all that motivated to mess with that area.

I recently picked up one of those cityscape panels from eBay and am really digging it:

What should I check out in relation to mini-playfield lights that don’t work?

(The connectors on the lightboards look okay, and I can’t find any broken, pinched or cut wires. Also, all fuses on the power driver board test okay.)

#9718 1 year ago
Quoted from emsrph:

As a start..
Do other lamps in the mini playfield row or column also not work?

No, they all work. It’s literally just the lights on the mini playfield that are dead.

I will poke around some more via your suggestions. Thanks for the help!

Quoted from emsrph:

Bulbs good? Unlikely it’s all of them but it happens.

It WAS the bulbs. ALL 10 of them. All of which were LEDs.

(It’s yet another thing with this machine that proves it HAD NOT been “fully shopped” by the previous owner before I bought it.)

Thanks again for all the help!

#9724 1 year ago
Quoted from acedanger:

Wow that's amazing all 10 went out at the same time??!!?

I don’t know about that; they were all out when I bought the machine. Surely they didn’t, though.

Quoted from acedanger:

Just 3D printed these they have strong magnets. LMK what you all think? Sorry for the bad pic.

I dig ‘em!

Quoted from emsrph:

Glad it was something easy.

Me too!

Started work on replacing some of my Shadow’s broken plastics with the full repro kit I got from Marco Specialties, and wouldn’t you know it, the very first piece I started with (large plastic by the ball launch lane) is missing a hole.

Does anyone have any protips for drilling this missing hole without cracking and ruining the plastic?

UPDATE: I have it sorted out. A friend recommended that I not let too much heat build up while drilling to avoid warping, so I went at it VERY carefully, and we have success! (Twas much easier than I anticipated.)

Add me to the list as well. - Hopefully Chris is watching...

Same here.

I’ve never been much for these types of playfield mods, but this one just feels right.

Ordered!

#10269 1 year ago
Quoted from jonesjb:

Is this an official plastic?

I don’t know.

It was from this set: https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/31-2002-XX

Quoted from Gogojohnnyquack:

I'd also lay a piece of Mylar here on the new plastic to protect it from the post below:

Good idea; thanks!

It’s unfortunate that some donut installed this post (I just removed), but at least the hole left behind is in a black patch of the playfield.

Has anybody elses machine had this done to it?

That GB mod is a perfect way to add such a post, and it makes sense on that particular game. (I’d like to pick up a Ghostbusters, but for what they’re going for, it seems like the money might be better spent on other machines. Of course, it might help if I could find a stock one, without having to pay for a crap-ton of mods.)

Heh, the rings are indeed the same color; one’s just lit up more than the other.

#10504 9 months ago
Quoted from RCA1:

Some previous owner of mine added extra posts to narrow down the outlanes by screwing them in below the adjustable posts.

Jeeze…. I get that outlanes can be damn annoying (I’m looking at you, BSD), but that’s a pretty harse move.
