Question: My battlefield kicker does not respond well when the ball is in the middle of the battlefield...only when it’s near the sides/Optos. I know it’s light reflection/glareand I know there is a bulletin on this but the kit is unavailable so I picked some shrink tube. It’s the perfect fit and I’ll cut it to length but how have you all actually attached it to the opto housing?
I could go ghetto with electrical tape but thought there might be some better ideas here.
Quoted from mwong168:Agree with previous poster and here is my Shadow with warm white leds from Comet.
Purple Passion from Comet works too!
I have Cyan in mine. I think it makes the lettering look like neon light signs which is appropriate for the time period art style.
Quoted from jonesjb:Purple Passion from Comet works too!
I have the purple passions in my shadow as well. Looks great!
My left lane diverter is acting up. It sometimes doesn't work move, sometimes it gets stuck in the middle, and sometimes the ball moves the diverter.
Any thoughts?

I actually purchased the last kit to fix this 3 year's ago from bay area amusements. Mine started acting up after I installed leds and the glare messes with the optos.

Set screw loose? Spring came off?
Need some more help on the battlefield optos. I installed the shrink tubing so the optos are shielded from glare but the same issue persists. Even with the glass off, the optos sense/register my finger in switch edge test within an inch or two each opto but anywhere in the center of the battlefield area is not sensed. Has anyone else experienced this? If it's not glare on the optos, is there anything I could check or adjust? I'm kind of at a loss here. Thanks!
Joined the club a couple of days ago! Picked up a real nice game from a local pinsider and have really been enjoying it.
I've played a good amount of TS before getting it, but it was almost always on route pins in loud environments. Even without being able to hear much, I've always been a fan of the game play. But now getting to play it in a home environment I'm appreciating it on a whole other level. The callouts and audio integration are fantastic.
Love the tilt callout: "You still think you can control the game with brute force?"
So perfect.
Lastly, I had never seen the Aurich trans in person. Having seen it on here I knew it was going to be mandatory to have if I ever owned a TS, fortunately the one I got came with it. Well done Aurich! It really takes the whole experience to the next level. I like Baldwin and all, but I don't need to be starring at his mug all the time.

Have been considering buying a TS for a while now, happy to have finally pulled the trigger.
See what I did there?

Seriously?! No one has experienced this problem with their Shadow?

Do you have any LEDs nearby? Particularly blue, purple, or red?
I have whites in the main play field but nothing close to the battlefield. I also shielded the optos from any reflection off the back glass but it didn’t make a difference.

Have you cleaned both optos with a Q-tip? If so, have you changed out the optos? Maybe one or both is just bad?
Also, maybe measure voltage and see if it's not getting enough power?

I don’t like him. Fortunately, the Aurich was the perfect solution!

Have you tried replacing the receiver?
PinMonk jawjaw Thanks for the suggestions! I did clean the optos and I ruled out replacing them only because they respond close to each opto but not in the center. Wouldn't that confirm that the beam of light is completing if both the transmitter and receiver side are registering? I'll probably order a new Tx and Rx just to rule them out but it seems odd that the issue is only in the middle. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for the replies!

If one or both is failing, they might work partially, but the beam of the sender won't be strong enough, or the receiver won't be sensitive enough to read it well. After trying everything else, if you've cleaned them, it sounds like replacement is the next step. I'd do one at a time, then test so you can see if it was the Tx or Rx that was the problem for posterity on this thread.
Quoted from lpeters82:Does anyone have an extra set of the clear plastics that cover the ramps. Please PM if you do.
Pinball Life sells them:

Quoted from lpeters82:Shoot, I just placed an order two days ago.
Call them and add to the order if it hasn't shipped yet.
What replacement switch do owners use for the switch located on the left ramp when the ball diverts to the right?
Both Shadows I've owned only register a shot to the right 75-95% of the time. The factory switch has to be adjusted just right in order to register a fast moving ball, but if the switch is angled too much, a slow moving ball will get hung up. It seems that a very thin switch that sticks up higher would do the trick? If so, what switch is the best?
Thanks,
Brad

Art
Robertstone407. Cant wait to see how those extra bulbs look in the back. I reckon that will look better than a led strip.
Quoted from pipes:Anybody have these installed on their cab? Just curious how they look.
My Shadow has them and I think they look great! I'd post a photo, but I don't currently have one handy unfortunately.

Thank you, i am about to power up today for test out. I thought it looked like a cool street lamp. Also i got asked if i can make some of the mini playfield thumb screws. Is anyone interested in this?

The Shadow is already on the backglass, playfield and sides of the cabinet. Do you really need him on both the insides of your cabinet too?
I just received these from my buddy hassanchop and will post up pics later once they are installed in my game.

I like these better. Was thinking about picking up a set. Let us know what you think once you get them installed.

Ditto. Just bought a set. I'll probably have them installed before mwong does so I'll post those up as soon as I can
Those are mych better. A pet-peev of mine is when art on decals is a different style than the art on the playfield. Cant wait to see it.

I feel the same way. I wish someone would make a proper set for LOTR. I've seen what's available and I'm not impressed.
Sadly I'll be leaving the club (for now, may buy one again) and have my Shadow listed on Pinside for sale. I bought another pin and I'm out of room...need a bigger house, lol.
If anyone is interested in brand new PPS complete plastic set for the game and brand new Pinbits plastic protector set please see the link below. I never got around to installing these on my game.
