Has anyone been able to illuminate the battlefield only when active? Right now I have a led strip tied to GI, but thinking it would be cool to only have it illuminate when the ball is up there.

#5602 5 years ago
Quoted from Spacemanratso09:

If anyone knows where to get the upper ramp behind the battlefield I would greatly appreciate it I did the foam suggestion and worked like a charm thank you but obviously would love locate a replacement
Thanks

Look up at my last post or two, I ordered a new one and there might be another left.

The mini playfield flipper is only active when the ball is up there, so rigging up a relay to power some lighting should be pretty straight forward.

Glad you got everything sorted.

Quoted from RobDutch:

Just installed my first ColorDMD in my Shadow and it looks awesome!
But I do have a question: there seems to be some delay between animations and sometimes the screen goes black for a second, is this normal?
[quoted image]

I'm with Scoot. Not normal. I also recently installed my first ColorDMD on my TS, and once I got the connector turned around the right way, everything has been perfect since!

Quoted from RobDutch:

I don't see a delay between animations, but I do sometimes have the screen go black for a second or 2 it seems. Usually after a plunge.
I've double checked the ribbon cable, and it's good. My old regular dmd had zero issues.
I have the LED ColorDMD (if that makes a difference).

#5609 5 years ago

I don't recall any aberrant performance from my ColorDMD in Shadow. There's really no way to wire it up wrong either.

Maybe make sure your game is running a ROM version that's compatible with the ColorDMD?

That's a good point. I'm running LX-2 I think... I'll burn a more modern (LA-6?) version and try that out.

What is the latest ROM. Think mine has has LH6.

#5613 5 years ago

Pretty sure you’re up to date.

#5614 5 years ago

I noticed sometimes the targets at the back of the mini-playfield do not always work (in terms of counting down the number of targets hit). Any suggestions on what to look for? Thanks for your help.

I think that is because the countdown hits come from the side targets. Doesn’t seem right I know.

Try taking them apart and cleaning the grime, and waxing them so they move smoothly.

#5617 5 years ago

So I reseated the connectors of my ColorDMD and uploaded the software again, but still the same 0.5 seconds of black screen between animations.

In this video from SDTM, the same can be seen at 13:17 =

Starting to think these black screens were always there (and are supposed to be there) but I didn't look at the screen a lot until I bought a ColorDMD lol

Thoughts anyone?

Hi guys,
I am thinking of adding a led strip at the back of the playfield to light up a bit, according to you, what will be the most appropriate color?

This is the correct answer.

In a normal dmd you see 2 frames merging. On the colordmd you miss this scene’s ,so i think they paint it black for a smoother transition.

Pinovogel's correct. When I colored the game I couldn't color the transitions because they are random dither dissolves so I black them out instead so you don't see uncolored frames.

Thanks for the advice. I thought on my first Shadow the back targets also worked for the count down. A cleaning is always a good idea. Is it easy to remove them?

Does anyone know if replacement plastic phurbas (for the top of the diverters) are available anywhere? I checked the usual suspects but they seem sold out (not surprising, but I thought I'd check )

I found some here, but I know nothing about the company.

Pinball Inc is good to go. Ive ordered from them in the past.

Pinball , Inc was the guy that made all the ramps before he sold to Starship Fantasy. I’ve ordered multiple things from him and his repuatation is stellar within the pinball community.

Well everyone, looks like I am joining the club pretty soon! Just committed to this one from pinsider WeirPinball . I saw this game back in December when I picked up Transformers LE from him, and I told him "Come April, if this is still here, I'll be making another trip."

Looks like I'll be going up there sometime in May...!

Can't beat an original PF clearcoated with that Sanctum looking that nice!

Cabinet has some "character" to it, and that's fine with me. The real important area, the PF, is imamaculate (throwback to our beloved Baywatch thread), and the game is 100% electrically and mechanically sound with Weirpinball having gone over practically everything.

You can read more about it here: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-the-shadow-4

And for the price critics, I didn't pay that price. Much closer to $4K - with ColorDMD and mirror blades, and those pictures are a bit older than the game's current condition (read: even better).

This has been a dark horse title for quite some time for me, and I am glad to get it home before prices get even more insane ...

I've changed the orange flashers to Green and put a green LED strip above the rear playfield. Blue under the Battlefield then purple flashes by the rings.

Nice! Welcome to the club! I looked for a long time to find one with a beautiful sanctum! Mine is ALMOST as nice as yours. Around $4K for that is excellent, I think. I paid $3800, but no Color DMD (since added) or side blades or Aurich kit (which I already had). My cab is in a bit better shape, perhaps, but that's a relatively easy fix/low priority. Playfield condition is most important to me.

#5639 4 years ago

I'm in the process of tearing down my other Shadow and will be repairing both Sanctums and shopping them together. Here's an album of tear down pics if anyone needs to reference where a part goes or whatever.

Thanks. I'll probably order enough to do them all just incase. It has the city scape back decal so I at least want to swap out those 3. (Unless I go with a brick background) We'll see once I actually have it in my house.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but where are guys tying in the taxi headlamps on the CPR PF?
