What if we made the QR code bigger than it is? For the text, do you just need the game number bigger, so you can pull up the online info (as mentioned above)? For those who are trying to read info directly off the card, what info is most important?

I don't think the average person knew what the cards were for last year. Maybe if they are closer to the player, that would do the trick.
