Very interested.
Hopefully this won't fall into the recent type of pinball BS: "This isn't Westly or Buttercup's story.... it's YOUR adventure thru the Princess Bride world"
Also hope it's not P3....

That’s the reason my wife and I passed on it.
Thankfully, the “Shrieking Eels” remain a species firmly rooted in fantasy… however it does sound like a Stern replay “knocker”.

IdahoRealtor I’m sure is pumped about this game… Fezzik aka Andre The Giant from Princess Bride has been his avatar for as long as I can remember!

You didn't enjoy YOUR journey through the magical world of Jurassic Park?
Quoted from BallyKISS1978:That’s the reason my wife and I passed on it.
Yup, us too..... huge letdown. If it hadn't been for that, we'd have bought.
Quoted from mrclean:“I told you I would always come for you.” — Westley
Well As you wish!!! So excited this is coming soon! Start the Princess Bride HYPE!! [quoted image]
Received post card in pinvall parts order today.
Quoted from chad:Received post card in pinvall parts order today.
Quoted from konghusker:Who’s rumored to be making this?
Supposed to be for P3 platform, which is a bummer. The only thing that would make me more disappointed is if it were coming from Homepin.

You guys are crazy. Is it the price?

Exactly! What a waste of a great theme that would be. Hoping for bof or jjp.
Why is everyone so against it IF this game would be on the P3 system ?
Would you rather Princess Bride not come out at all ?! That would be yep you guessed it

Personally I’m so happy Labyrinth is aMAZEIng even without Sarah. So silly have you all played it ? Or basing it solely on a character missing from the movie. A great game is a great game. Stern Jurassic Park is missing plenty of key characters / actors yet still a great game.
Sigh, because I love the theme but don’t see ever owning a P3. I would rather have a dedicated machine with normal flippers and proper artwork like Labyrinth did. I was also hoping this might be the surprise Dutch pinball game (rather than some JPOP-tainted theme) as I know they have shown they can do a niche theme justice even if it takes forever to get. As Count Rugen might say, “You've been chasing me your whole life only to P3 now? I think that's about the worst thing I've ever heard.”
I think if you're passionate about a theme it goes a long way for buyers. I bought sw prem because of the movie assets. Then I bought a sw pro because of the movie assets. Yep.
Alien was a grail pin. Good layout but without Ripley, just would not be the same. Now I have one in my collection.
Toy story was a grail pin and my distro had me on top of his list. Toy story 4 wtf jjp? Godfather without the trilogy wtf. Not sure I would want pb done by jjp without movie assets. BTW, just got a black arrow, Amazing integration!
I emailed bof seeing If in the future they would do an add on with Sarah and charge whatever for licensing. No reply.
Here's to the makers of princess bride, never bet against a Sicilian when DEATH is on the line!
Quoted from mrclean:Why is everyone so against it IF this game would be on the P3 system ?
Because to this pinball addict, P3 just feels bad. I'd rather have a macked out v-pin than a P3. There ARE some cool P3 modules and software that tempt me (Ranger in the Ruins, Dungeon Door Defender, and Final Resistance), but I just am not making the compromises needed to do a P3.
So fingers crossed the rumors are wrong, but if they're not I will watch the streams, but I will never own it, relinquishing my hopes of a legit Princess Bride pin to "mostly dead."
Quoted from mrclean:Would you rather Princess Bride not come out at all ?!
Would I have rather Spinal Tap remained a fantasy pin than the THING Homepin delivered? Yes.
Same thing here. I would rather see Princess Bride done well on a traditional pinball platform or not at all. But I'm sure there's a market for this even if it's P3, just not with me.
Don't care who makes it. I just want Wallace Shawn, Shawn wallace??? To do a jackpot callout like John Davies but with double inconceivable, triple inconceivable, super fucking inconceivable!!!
Pinball simply cannot support the insane amount of bad games with niche themes being produced.
The gravy train is plunging into the gorge before our eyes.

Are there bubbles in the gravy? Maybe bubbles in the gorge. Bubbles on the verge of popping??

It's very simple: When you have a game that FOLLOWS a movie, you need all the characters (especially the leads).
If you're not following the movie, you don't need the characters (like JP).
In my opinion BOF screwed up because they had the assets and chose not to use them. They could have put an option to use her or not for the owner to decide and had the movie poster (which is awesome) as an optional backglass. It would have been perfect and a dream come true if they had just done it right.
Pure laziness simply because they didn't want to, and preferred to have the bulge chasing "you" around instead. Creepy.
Take Jaws.... you are a character from the movie. Would you want to be some rando fool on a boat?
Or maybe Star Trek.... don't need Kirk, you can be some redshirt trying to be the hero.
Now apply it to everything else:
Pirates of the Caribbean isn't pirates without Johnny Dep.
Superman isn't Superman without Christopher Reeve.
Terminator or Conan isn't right without Arnie.
Moonwalker wouldn't be Moonwalker without Michael Jackson (ha!!! I had to get MJ in there )
Grease wouldn't be Grease without Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta
Rocky Horror is incomplete without Tim Curry
All these would be good pin themes done right, and terrible themes done wrong. It comes back to the leads, because it's the leads you really care about.
Princess Bride has to have the leads and not just the supporting cast. The hardest to get (I'd imagine) would be Mandell Patinkin - he's a difficult person to work with from what I've read.
P3 is awesome. It is the most innovative thing produced in pinball in the past 10 years. The system has its flaws but the company is actively working to resolve them and are constantly reengineering the product. It’s the most immersive way to play pinball with the integration of the interactive playfield screen. Comparing it to a virtual pin is absurd. One is a crappy video game and the other is an unmatched kinetic experience.
The platform will have its share of haters since it’s something new and people hate change. Check out the club thread for all the pearl clutching from having to use two sets of flipper buttons. I bet as the quality improves and companies continue to produce more modules and digital content for the machine it will continue to gain popularity. Just the fact that multimorphic encourages third party apps and modules is great for pinball because it’s probably the only way most of you will even have a chance at the niche grail theme you want.
You can be disappointed princess bride is on a p3 but it’s the only way you’ll ever get a pin with that theme.
I think the P3 is neat, its cool they keep adding more to it which just makes getting a system more interesting with the whole game swapping element.
Quoted from Deez:Comparing it to a virtual pin is absurd. One is a crappy video game and the other is an unmatched kinetic experience.
If you're referring to my statement, I did NOT compare P3 to a v-pin. I did say that if I'm going for a "not quite real pinball" choice, I'd take a v-pin all day long over a P3, despite being tempted by some of P3's modules.
I'm not saying NO ONE can like a P3. Enjoy yours. I understand some of its charms and have been tempted, but the overall package is a no-go for me. Too many compromises.
Has anything regarding Princess Bride been confirmed yet ? Or is everyone just speculating about it being on the P3 platform?!
My first experience that I played was Weird Al on the P3 & thought it was very fun.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:The gravy train is plunging into the gorge before our eyes.
Never doubt theme whorery

Mostly rumors, but you can see what looks like the reflection of a P3 upper side flipper (and the light panel for the staged shot) in the ball in the only picture that has been released.
Quoted from PinMonk:Mostly rumors, but you can see what looks like the reflection
Speaking of at first glance a reflection; I always thought this was such a cool piece of Princess Bride art… flip phone upside down or stand on head.9BF9DCDE-2C34-4F90-A9A1-35612A0D2F0B (resized).jpeg

Yeah, I thought that was really well-conceived. So creative.

I feel like hearing Sarah bitch and moan 8,000 times over about how unfair life is would get old super fast. Personally I am glad they left her out.
Quoted from PDX-Mike:Nobody wants to hear Sarah bitch and moan 8,000 times over about how unfair life is. Personally I am glad they left her out.
Also, I imagine when playing BoF's Labyrinth, you're playing through the adventure now, not her.
Quoted from mrclean:Would you rather Princess Bride not come out at all ?!
Weirdest take ever
Quoted from Flipper_McGavin:Another carelessly hyped up theme from Pinside that will not end well for whoever is making this.
I feel that way about Pulp Fiction, but moreso for the people that will still be waiting for a game after yet another year passes.
Can't wait to see the reveal. Multimorphic's mechs in the past several games have been out of control cool.
See I wouldn't buy a PB pin, but if I had a P3 or get one in the future, I would probably pick up the module for it, that's kind of the neat thing about the modules and whole platform. The owners have options and it's less of a money and space investment to pick up a new title. Going P3 seems smarter than a stand alone pin which I think would be a tough sell.
^ and that's exactly the boat I'm in. Not sure if I'd spend the $7k+ on a full machine, but since I already have a P3 and only have to spend half that for a Princess Bride module? Sign me up!
Later,
EV

You can get a brand new game for 3k. The modules are also pretty easy to sell and ship and trade. The modular design is awesome. The display also opens up a lot of new gameplay options. The whole platform is really neat. If you've played one and thought the flippers were crap then mosy likely the EOS boards were bad. They're working on an upgrade for them as we speak. The original ones were failing after like 100 plays. With a working EOS the flippers feel amazing.
At this point it seems like the game is what it is, not quite sure what the point of all this second-guessing is.
Only a month or so before we see it.
Looking forward to it.
Since everyone shows a bunch at TFP - maybe they'll front run it.
In 100 percent In with owning a P3 and it’s the family’s favorite movie. I hope they have cabinet art. I just need to figure out how to buy it so I can get it quick. I hate waiting months for stuff
You know how long the wait was for FR even if you got in asap so a 3rd party manufacturer we will see but I am in for sure!

EOS boards really didn't even get introduced until a year or so ago; early games didn't have them. I did the EOS upgrade kit (my P3 is older), and definitely FAR prefer the feel of the flippers on the P3 to my Alien. Those feel like little toys
