Gottlieb fast draw

To get the playfield in as new condition, I used the following .
Createx opaque colors , that you can use either with a paintbrush or with an airbrush.

For the red ... is one part 5210 opaque red + one part 5204 opaque yellow

For the light blue is 5207 opaque sky blue

For the dark blue is 4 parts 5201 opaque blue + 3 parts 5212 opaque white

For the yellow is 5204 yellow

White is 5212 white and black is ... black

Quoted from wolverinetuner:

Thank you, @phototamer , both for the info and for including the full name of the pin for searchability.
The more pins and paint colors/mixes that get added, the more useful this thread can become for the Pinside community!

I wish this thread was available 2 years ago . It took a lot of experimentation to get the colors right. Let’s hope that this thread will go larger .

Gottlieb Snow Derby (also Gottlieb Snow Queen)
This playfield had extensive wear, but I took on the challenge. As I said early-on in this thread, I am not looking to produce high-end-pins, and this is certainly not one. My goal has been to upgrade this playfield from terrible to presentable, and I think I’ve accomplished that. I am planning to clearcoat next.
Please note that the original playfield colors had faded and yellowed.
I had a difficult time matching the light blue, and settled on the best combination I saw after a number of attempts.
The unpainted football-shaped flipper area was so badly worn that I actually touched up the worn areas with a brown mix. I wanted to avoid painting the entire woodgrain area, and I’m very pleased with how that turned out, not perfectly matching, but softening the look of the worn areas.
I have expanded my acrylic paint selection to include Americana paints, matte and satin. Since there are now so many different brand/type variations, I’m including photos of paint bottles I used, I hope this helps.
Here are the color mixes, followed by some before and after photos:
-Playfield dark blue: 5 parts Michaels Dark Blue satin, 3 parts Americana True Blue matte
-Playfield pink: 5 parts Americana Wild Berry matte, 2 parts Michaels Red premium satin
-Playfield light blue: 4 parts Americana Shoreline matte, 4 parts Michaels Cobalt Blue premium satin, 1 part Michaels Yellow premium satin
-Playfield cream: 7 parts Michaels Honey Mustard premium satin, 5 parts Americana Buttermilk matte
-Playfield yellow: Michaels Yellow premium satin (straight from the bottle)
-Playfield woodgrain: 4 parts Michaels Golden Brown satin, 1 part Michaels Spanish Tile premium satin

In my opinion , since one goes into a great deal of trouble repainting the whole playfield, why not restore it to its original color ? The color we see now is darker and grey from years of exposure to smoke and light. Looking under the posts there is the original light blue color that the playfield had when new. I took that route with 2 of my em restorations and I do not regret it.

Quoted from Garrett:

Very nice color matching and excellent job! Did you air brush too?

Not on this one. All by hand

Quoted from Pin_Fandango:

How did you do all the flipper section by hand?
Is that a huge decal and you painted the solid colour by hand correct?
If not you are not human lol

Quoted from Garrett:

My thoughts as well. I'm ok with a paintbrush but that work is amazing to be done by hand. It's extremely difficult to get an exact color match let alone the detail done to perfection. I thought it was done with decals as well.

The lower central part is , of course, a decal , as part of the upper section. Except of the lower central section , every other area including decals that acted as a guide , were painted over by hand. Every section had to be painted more than 10 times in order for the paintbrush strokes to disappear. The whole thing is here ... https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/robowar-restoration-attempt-
