I thought it might be Phoenix. Clawed hand and earlier game was about Phoenix Arizona. But I don't see that detail.
Rack Em Up - I play one fairly often and should have known that sooner.

Easy one -
Quoted from pinwiztom:Mick's tits
of course
Knew that as soon as I saw it. Also the strange color change.
Here is a curve ball -
Quoted from pinwiztom:want to say seawitch?
Sweet. Yes, the upper head side.

you're up
Quoted from pinwiztom:http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2089&picno=5555
sneeky
being a side/head CAB artwork
That is why I said curveball without saying too much. You still nailed it form color and style. I'm still mad my buddy sold his last year without offering it to me first.
Quoted from pinwiztom:BG clue
Which version of the BG
For those following but did not get it "Twin Win" had an adult version of the backglass
PG version - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2689&picno=5906
Easy one from the Pointy People era (backglass)
Bowl-O
http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=368&picno=13705
This is from a backglass of a game I have never seen or played in person. But I want to because it has a certain feature I like on many games.
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:BEATEN AGAIN BY SECONDS!!!
All good. I didn't check enough yesterday and missed some easy ones like DE Secret Service. Ones like those you either know or have no clue.
We will go with your king.
Texas Ranger (same playfield as the last Sheriff or Lawman)

From the playfield. (I don't like this game)
I wanted to leave a bit of her shoulder to make keep it from being too generic.

Quoted from pinwiztom:above looks like a GTB multiplayer from the mid to late 50s
(chances are the gal has twin facing the other way)
guessing Seashore
not even sure that is an actual GTB pin name
will have to peruse ipdb to verify.
I had similar thoughts. I could picture another girl facing her on the other side of the wheel. Probably says Gotlieb in the center of the wheel.
I can picture her Pegasus back half but can't think of the game right now.
Is it that Loctronomotion or something?
Checking in - Pretty Baby

From the backglass (and not Hulk)
Hmmm, looks like something on a playfield back board rather than a playfield or backglass. And the font looks like something on a system-11.
I was thinking something like this on MA - http://ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1635&picno=30843&zoom=1
Tx Sector - I was playing one yesterday. Also missed out on the NBA. Played in a linked tournament yesterday.

Here is another fun game.
Quoted from pinballkim:http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=4077&picno=18936
Mephisto
Someone else can post a pic
Wow, no way I would have gotten that game. From "Universal de Desarrollos". I never played any of these and would not recognize artist or anything. If we continue down the path of obscure games I am going to bail. Just not fun if I don't have a chance.
Quoted from aobrien5:I've played Mephisto. Knew I'd seen it.
taxman that's how I feel about all the EMs!
I only own one EM at this point. I am mostly a 90's Bly/Wms and pretty big on System-11 games. But EMs are around and available. At Pintastic I think close to 20% of the games in the Free Play area are EMs and I take advantage of that when I am there.
Decades in the hobby I have never see a "Universal de Desarrollos" game.
Quoted from pinwiztom:I did not think this clue was going to be so tough, either that or everyone has grown tired of the quiz game.
I don't have a chance to look all of the time. I hate it when I come back and missed a few of them and knew a couple. But I will admit I didn't look forward to playing when I thought it would turn to obscure companies I had not change of knowing. Just not fun. The fun part is knowing you have probably played the game but didn't observe a section of the playfield or backglass. So you run game through your mind based on color schemes, post style . . .
Quoted from pinwiztom:Anyway a helpful hint might be think of this game as what makes pinball
the fun and competitive game of skill it is today.
Beer?
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:Wow! Beaten by 30 seconds again! Way to go, Dave!
Not very common, but we have one at The Sanctum to play (from the playfield).
Wow, that was quick. Until The Sanctum go one last year I don't remember playing one. Cool looking game, but I don't particularly like playing.
Quoted from pinwiztom:the main feature turret
tends to slow it down some
Also was it fair to reverse the image
Sorry, I did not realize it was reversed when I took a quick snap shot from this picture -

I just picked it because we have one to play and I know it has cool art but is uncommon.

Actually your clue about the shoot again insert
being below flippers is misleading as while it is located in the drain area
the insert is still placed a few cm above the flippers albeit to the left side drain.
nice try
What clue?
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:This may have been posted before. From the BG
WMS Funhouse
Someone else can post a pic.
I knew it was Lawlor. I had not idea that was up there.
Once again. Is this going to turn into picking games we don't see and just try to stump each other?
Going Nuts 10 made, Kingpin 9 made . . .
If so posting a picture that will be more difficult than fun is easy.
Quoted from aobrien5:Both of them were guessed within 90m, and we always give clues if it takes too long. It's ok if you don't know every one of them.
I do not expect to get even half of them. But when I don't I try to think of what I could have done to narrow it down. Artist, color scheme . . . But then when I realize I would not have ever gotten it without brute for IPDB searches I wonder what the person posting it was thinking. And if it is purely to stump people it loses a bit of the fun.
Don't read too much into my posts about this. I'm not trying to make a big deal. It is not my thread and everyone can take the game in any direction they want. But I'm just saying if I see it going in a direction of total difficulty I don't want to put too much thought into it. I purposely post a few easy ones because it is fun when you recognize it right away. Also helps to get more people playing. So I purposely posted some more recent games when it was mentioned that one person is not that good on the EM spectrum.
To me it looks like the edge of a plastic on a support. The left side of the picture is a plastic with the explosion and bricks. The upper right is the playfield below the plastic. The art looks slightly different.
Yup. Pretty sure that it up there. No good close up on IPDB.

Can anyone here identify this pinball machine?

Quoted from Gott_Lieb:This is a very small, very fine detail on this game's BG. I always thought it was pretty neat.

I don't like it much either. But it is cool that I don't know any other game where you can lower your score (not just award or bonus) through betting.
Quoted from pinwiztom:visual clue was clipped from a blank (unpopulated) PF
Could tell that from the empty circled post hole.
I was wondering if it is upside down. Since that is not how a "P" trap works.
Quoted from pinwiztom:my next clue was going to be
Water Works
I owned a Monopoly for a few months and never saw that.
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:Twister?
No, but that is what I was hoping first thoughts would be.
There are a lot of cows in pinball
Quoted from pinballkim:Is it big buck hunter?
Ding ding ding. We have a winner.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:has to be a sega with the crappy art. ID4?
You forget that crappy Sega art became crappy Stern art.
That is the Buck Rodgers ships. What threw me off was it is from the playfield.

This one is from a game I was going to buy, but The Sanctum got one. Then they sold theirs. I knew I should have grabbed one when I could have.
Quoted from pinwiztom:hopefully we can get some more people to jump on here

Quoted from Gott_Lieb:HINT: The original T Z
Sorry I slacked on this thread this weekend. At least I was playing pinball.
Hmmm, the original TZ to me would be the show "The Outer Limits" but there is no pin I know of. Then I was thinking the "Time Tunnel" but that came after. And the pin was called Space Time but no dice.
Ah, Tri Zone.

Sorry for the quality. From the Backglass.
Totem

Just a minute. Shoving down dinner before league tonight.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:normally you would have, but I've had to restore a lot of fathoms for people and that is a part I always have to touchup, so I knew it the second I saw it.
That is cool. It is so high up I figured people think of the game as an underwater scene and not what people look at generally. But if you're touching up these things had to stick in your head. I love the fact that you (as in me) can see a playfield or backglass for years and not see some of the details.
Quoted from pinwiztom:man

I don't know how this got on the playfield - Tricky one since I do not see it visible on any IPDB pictures. (Edit, I found it on one picture but not nearly as clean as this one off a bare playfield)
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:The DE version of reversed Addams Family (Baywatch)?
Nope. This is just how it is on the playfield position wise, just under a pretty congested area of a 90s Bally/Williams.
Quoted from Taxman:Nope. This is just how it is on the playfield position wise, just under a pretty congested area of a 90s Bally/Williams.
That was not enough?
Quoted from lmsybiatb:Can we make a rule that the machine must be listed on ipdb as a pinball? I spent way too much time on a snipe hunt.
I would love a set of rules. I take a break from the thread every once and a while after an obscure post. It can be fun to kill some times when you're sitting around but it is frustrating when you don't have a chance.
Obscure companies, low production, non pinball, conversions and concept games . . .
If the thread really wants people to join it can't be next to impossible. And the poster has to pay attention when too much time is going by and no one seems to have a clue. You might need to give a clue like "Cabinet, BG, plastic or playfield". Also if you guess you really should post and not pass it on to someone.
I'm going to guess it starts with a "V". And if I buy a vowel it would be "e".
http://ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2723&picno=19737&zoom=1

Playfield - If you know the artwork is should not be too hard.
Quoted from AvidListener:It has a pair of pop bumpers down near the flippers.
A slightly expanded photo view:
Where is this picture from? That light stripe below the hand does not appear anywhere I can see.
Quoted from AvidListener:As I look back at the photo I posted, the hand on the stripe almost appears to be a sport theme excerpt (track?), and I apologize if that stripe took anyone down a wrong search path.
Funny stuff, that is exactly what I was thinking (and very confused). I was trying to think of aliens at the starting block of a sprint.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:pabst blue ribbon?
No, I was told when the playfield art was shown for approval the only change requested was "More Cigarette Butts".
There are dice all over Aerosmith, but not those. Also I don't think Jeremy would screw up the die with (2) sets of 2 on the same die.
Looking back at what I missed I see Royal Flush Deluxe. I own that game over 15 years but rarely look at the backglass.

I thought BMX was a bit annoying to play with the in-lane gimmick.
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:Michael Jackson meets Lucille Ball?
He was a teen at the time this game came out and the "Here's Lucy" show was on TV. So maybe.
This is on the playfield.
Travel Time
http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2636&picno=2501
This picture is right in the center of the playfield.
Hint: Game is from the 90's
I know I took the picture from a little known part of the backglass because it is slightly different from the rest of the backglass but is it really that hard? Or is everyone busy this weekend?
Another hint: I am bringing one to The Sanctum tomorrow for people to play for a while. (in other words it is in my collection)
That is why I picked it. The style of the sewer alligator did not match the rest of the artwork.
Waiting for the next . . .
That should be Sheriff or Lawman.
Confirmed (I think we had that one a month ago) - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2116&picno=64570&zoom=1
This might be hard - from the playfield
Sorry, forgot to come back here.
Class of 1812 - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=528&picno=31734&zoom=1
Good one. I owned Future Spa long enough to know it is not there. Artwork looks like late 70's 80's and color scheme like Playboy.
Thread is dying here. Kind of why I throw in an easy one or big hint once and a while.
Is it a known manufacturer or something rarely seen?
Super Mario Bros Mushroom World
Quoted from CaptainNeo:that looks like whitewater.
I knew I would get someone to take the bait.
But I won't drag this out since it is a bit of a trick. It is not a commercial game. (home only, made in Chicago)
No, we were still discussing TOTAN. So you got it twice.

Shall post another shortly.
Funny, most SBM machines I have seen look like the one in your picture.
Quoted from Atari_Daze:Image came from the one I rebuilt the cabinet for late last year, but yes it is HB.
(Hope that is not considered cheating)
Nope, as long as you can find it in an IPDB picture. I posted one that shows most of it.
Here, you won't find a picture this nice on IPDB either. You will see it, but not this clear.
Valiant

There is absolutely nothing on T2 I can take a screen shot of that does not instantly give it away.
Quoted from pinwiztom:new clue looks like a classic Stern
IF i had to guess i would say Cosmic Princess
That is because the person who did the art did some very familiar stuff for a bunch of the top companies.
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:This is definitely a Gottlieb from 1977 or newer. Not certain what it is w/o looking.

My thought also. I did a quick scan on IPDB of Gottlieb 68 up EM and from titles nothing struck me.

You have to admit it is a pretty funny backglass.
Quoted from pinwiztom:#2069 is from the PF
if you hadn't guessed yet.
While the insert is a big give away as a PF picture, I have not had time to think or look. I'll guess early 70s Williams, but that is just a quick thought.
I have not been checking in regularly anymore. But another Sonic? I guess I'll not check back as much
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:Not certain if this was used or not.
Carnival
Quoted from dothedoo:Ok....well.....I USED TO dislike Hook!
What happened to make you like it? Alzheimer? Head injury?
That is a plastic under Fish Tales? I don't remember seeing it and I own one. I checked yesterday and didn't see it in the pics it is so hidden. But the "L" insert for the LIE lanes did it.
Quoted from LeonSpinkx:My initial thought was Charlie's Angels, but I was close: http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=536&picno=19292

I thought it was Chicago Coin Hee Haw
http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1152&picno=19438
But there are differences above the Feature Wheel. This should narrow it down if reused.
Never mind, it is Hee Haw, just taken from this picture with the inserts missing.

This might be tough so let me know if hints are required.

Sorry, not paying attention. 90's classic.
That would be Playboy. This is off the Stern Backglass

I stopped paying regular attention when the clues got stupid. Games like "sonic" and stuff just sucked the fun out. When I do a hard clue I drop hints.
I have not even looked at the current clue or what happened with the past few. I just saw the thread come up and joined for old time sake.
Looks like something that would be a Captain Harlock or Masters of the Universe. But if it is a 1 off again oh well.
Quoted from pinballkim:Thousands of units so far from a 1 off.
Captain Nemo sold thousands of units?
Mr Black?
It was a good run. I did not join until post 641 but we went hot a few times and I got in about 10% of the over 2,000 posts we did have.
Viking - did not need the zoom. Easy to recognize. We just got one at the Sanctum.
I thought this thread was killed off?
What a bunch of Bone Heads. Oh.

I guess we are not totally dead, yet
Quoted from LeonSpinkx:Nice! Did the second glue give it away?
No, I have one in one for years. I think I paid $1,900 if that give you an idea how long.
I'm thinking El Dorado and the City of Gold
You, not a great picture but top center

I need to bookmark this thread to my favorites. I usually only see it when it comes to the top. When I look for it I do it through my post history.
Quoted from o-din:You guys have gotten real good at figuring out obscure EMs from 60 or 70 years ago, and foreign jobs that you may never see in your lifetime, but one from the last 30 years, made in the USA by one of the top manufacturers has you all stumped? I'll give another hint then. It is a prequel to a sequel.
I kind of lost my enthusiasm due to some of the reasons you said. I don't want to "dig" IPDB without looking and getting and idea about company artist or theme. I hate the posts from a company whose games I have never seen or only a handful were made.
When it comes to hints it is sometimes only apparent when you know the answer. Obviously 7 posts in 6 days did nothing to advance this. Sorry. I stopped looking and when this thread comes to the top I look to see if we moved on.
Agreed, Blackwater 100 was a very good pic. Yes, I have played it many times.
Clues like the one about the bands gave me a headache. But those are my issues
Quoted from Piratedan200:Early Bally SS. It's a title from either my collection or wishlist.
Bally narrows it down to AFM, Skateball and TZ. But it does not look like one of them.
I thought this thread was dead.

Next one - this might be rather difficult so here's a hint - it's a european one.
The odd-ball ones I have little chance of ever having seen is a big reason I kind of lost interest in this thread.
But this one is Rock 2500
http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=3538&picno=52918
There is not one picture I could take from the new Star Wars that is not easily recognizable clip art.
Here is one from a game I might be playing tonight. If I disappear again send me a PM.
Quoted from Mardi-Gras-Man:Well done!
I'm rather new in this Forum and I thought it would be rather annoying for most of you to post pictures of 'well known' games so please excuse me
I think that is the secret to why this thread went into the thousands of posts. Creatively selecting a picture from a well known game, but having it be a "not so well know detail". Or even if the game is not well known but something in the picture gives away enough detail to figure it out. The style of the artist, the piece that gives away the theme or even the shape of a playfield part to narrow the company and era.
Some of the participants here have done playfield restores and see these small areas we glance over. I am constantly finding things I have not noticed in games I have owned for many years.
It was made in the past couple of years. This was a fist title released by the company. I am hoping to finally play their second title (Alien).
