Quoted from Seatmandan:Not Gold Ball,
SECOND HINT: It's a DMD game
I'm not new to pinball but I'm new here. Would you mind filling me in on B/W and DMD? Thanks!
Wow, an early cordless phone. No clue as to the game. I'll guess Spy Hunter: International Man of Espionage II.
D'oh! You got skipped. I have no clue, so I'll make up Chicago Coin's epic 1973 EM classic The Exorcist.
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:Bally Capersville - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=431&picno=40312&zoom=1
I don't think anyone will get this one, unless they intimately know the game.
Jim
I play CA all the damn time (it's free at the local pinbar) and had no clue.
I'm curious where you are all getting these pics from. Pins you own/owned, pics you've taken, IPDB, etc. I took a bunch a my local pinbar to use here. Used one so far. Fun thread!
http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=709&picno=21556&zoom=1
Be back with a clue shortly.
Quoted from pinwiztom:I am pretty good at recognizing most 60s & 70s EMs
less so for woodrails and early S/S games
but anything post 1985 is just pure guessing.
The above looks like 1982-86 era,
Wild guess is Af-tor or Space Invaders??.
Time for bed so hope someone gets it before morning.
Wild or not, you are correct.
I searched for a specific pin and found a second pin with same name so I used it instead. There's a domestic one and a foreign one.
Quoted from pinwiztom:Pure ass guess without checking ipdb
but going with Black Knight
Good timing! Played my first original BK in probably 20+ years last night at Blairally. Game is thoroughly shopped and playing really well, albeit a bit slow for my taste. Very fun pin. Put up a 1.7, which the owner admired.
Quoted from AvidListener:Hi Mikael,
Is it Old Coney Island!?
http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=553&picno=33276&zoom=1
Looks just like it and fits the clues to me.
Getting this IPDB searching thing kinda down. I'll search through some pics of my own and post something shortly.
Thanks for the hints! Skyway: http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2206&picno=60004
bbiab
Quoted from dothedoo:Well that looks like a Stern Viper.
http://ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2739&picno=24167&zoom=1
Correct! Next clue?
Quoted from AvidListener:Ha! Very funny, Gott_Lieb!
I'm pretty new around here but I was literally scrolling through threads looking for your avatar.
Surfers: http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2466&picno=8707&zoom=1
The Bally clue helped me search your collection. No IPDB needed! (Except the photo.)
Changing things up? Big Deal! http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=244&picno=4364&zoom=1
BRB...
Quoted from pinwiztom:What European GTB clone is that?
It does share a name with a slightly older GTB but it is not a remake of that game. In short, there are two different American pinballs with the same name as the mystery machine.
On an unrelated note, pinwiztom, you are hereby cordially invited to the Eugene Pinball Knights weekly Wednesday pinball tournament at Blairally in Eugene. They have 20 or so pins on the floor at any given moment, and they all work really well. Props to the techs. I won 120 bucks last week, and am hoping to do so again tonight. Back to the hints!
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:The targets are a dead giveaway that it's an Atari. I'll guess Superman.
You are correct, as usual. http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2454&picno=37579&zoom=1
One of their models that didn't go into full production are highly sought after and tend to go for 15K and up.
Gave it away. Still had to search a bit though. BRB with new clue.
EDIT: I would have searched Joker anyway due to the image, but the text didn't hurt.
Well done yet again! I had to check the listed pins at this location to figure out which game it was.
First game I didn't even have to search for, and the game that got me into pinball at 10. LLLAAAAASERRR WARRRRR!
Quoted from Boof-Ed:Is that the snack bar on cftbl? Hilarious. I was thinking I've seen that some where. I went and played my new machine and had a game of cftbl on my way out of the games room and still didn't notice it straight away.
https://images.pinside.com/e/b8/58/eb858d76bbc1643fa375fd25bdb878ced8982d36.jpg
Missing the scoop! I snapped this a few days ago at a local pinbar with the lamest QC you can imagine. Horrible machines. Fun game, however. I wish there was a good one locally.
I swear I saw this one recently browsing IPDB. There were several made (different themes, players, etc) but I don't recall it.
What a strange world we live in. http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2397&picno=48626&zoom=1
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:Is this thread now officially dead? Say it ain't so!
Not on my watch! And now for something completely different (than the machine it was based on):
Quoted from pinwiztom:http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1214&picno=14692
Hollywood CCoin
nextMy wife and i are heading to Eugene this afternoon to go to a real estate open house (near OU) in a few hours
Stop by Blairally if you get a chance. Lots of great machines on the floor. Recently in is Harlem Globetrotters, Black Knight, and Cheetah. I LOVE Cheetah!
Time Machine. I have the second highest score on pinside; didn't even need to IPDB it. New clue soon.
http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2565&picno=34258&zoom=1
This is a different type of clue. It's a very popular pin with some upper bits removed.
Capcom Kingpin: http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=4000&picno=48041
New clue forthcoming.
Quoted from Taxman:Once again. Is this going to turn into picking games we don't see and just try to stump each other?
Going Nuts 10 made, Kingpin 9 made . . .
If so posting a picture that will be more difficult than fun is easy.
My clue had way more than 8 made.
But seriously, I probably know less about pinball than most people in this thread but I found Kingpin in about 10 minutes. It's all about the search.
Took a while using the movie clue: Pot O Gold! http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1857&picno=27603
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:Must be Rotation 8, nope, not Spectra IV either, hmm. . . . It has to be a cocktail pin.
It does look somewhat cockatilish.
Quoted from Taxman:I would love a set of rules. I take a break from the thread every once and a while after an obscure post. It can be fun to kill some times when you're sitting around but it is frustrating when you don't have a chance.
Obscure companies, low production, non pinball, conversions and concept games . . .
If the thread really wants people to join it can't be next to impossible. And the poster has to pay attention when too much time is going by and no one seems to have a clue. You might need to give a clue like "Cabinet, BG, plastic or playfield". Also if you guess you really should post and not pass it on to someone.
I'm not OP but I agree that all pics/hints should be available on IPDB.

I'm pretty certain it's a Bally or Midway or Premier or Williams or Gottlieb or Chicago Coin or GENCO or Sony or Sega or Heighway or Smith&Wesson from 1953 through 2001. Beyond that I have no clue.
Easy, just shopped one of these out last month. Chicago Coin's Cucumber Madness, 1968. Brb with next clue.
Quoted from dothedoo:Wow, I was thinking SFII, but that would have been wrong.
Street Fighter II: http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2403&picno=11566

From the playfield:
Ah, so there's a call-out in No Fear. I missed the context. Haven't played one in years, so no idea. To Googles!
I gave it an hour or more earlier but I couldn't figure it out, even with a page of the shout-outs in No Fear, so I'm out for now until this is solved. *shakes fist*
Twilight Zone: http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2684&picno=2546&zoom=1 (under the Z)
I'll resubmit my earlier mis-timed clue (from the backglass):

Hurricane! Same artist, so I got that going for me. http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1257&picno=21792&zoom=1
From the backglass:
Quoted from wylcot:Hey there!
Just asking for your help here...
I also created this game on the French pinball forum https://flipjuke.fr/, but it got stuck on a picture, and I'd like to restart it...
Any idea on this one? (sorry pinwiztom for cutting in)
Rescue 911. I met the designer a few years ago. Talked my ear off but a good dude.
Well that narrowed it down. Full Throttle: http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=6301&picno=68639&zoom=1
Next clue from the backglass:
Knew it was a Gottlieb but took a while: Mustang http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1645&picno=20875&zoom=1
brb
I still try to check in once a day or so. I just haven't had time to IPDB hunt like I used to. Full time job and all.
I think it has a pilot smoking a cigarette with a rather stacked woman companion but I cannot recall the title.
My first in a while! The Atarians: http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=102&picno=6828&zoom=1

brb with clue, gotta look through some recent pictures
I want to keep the thread going this time, so here's an easy hint: first machine of a notable builder.
The big picture helped. https://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1340&picno=63765&zoom=1

Next clue:
Quoted from pinwiztom:IT was actually Outer Space (2Player) if you look closely at both Backglasses
Outer Space shows more artwork below the gals chin
Oh right, the multiple versions of the same game bites me again! I'll notify management.

Quoted from LeonSpinkx:I don't at all mean for this to take over but I was skimming an article on RogerEbert.com about an Elaine May film from 1986 called "Mikey and Nicky", and this photo is used:
I have no idea what that machine is and this thread seems appropo.

I spent a good thirty minutes or so searching IPDB for baseball and cricket games before I took a good look at the clue. Recognized it as Comet almost immediately after that. hah!
