Williams Big Deal (1963) - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=244&picno=48069&zoom=1
Jim
Quoted from AvidListener:Great comic-style art from Gordon Morison!
The enormous quantity of inspired backglass/playfield/plastic/cabinet work from him is hard to fathom.
My favorite pinball artist by far. Christian Marche comes in second along with Paul Faris in third.
Jim
Quoted from pinwiztom:this may be a tough one unless you have seen the game before.
kinda rare
I've looked and looked, but I've got nothing! I believe I've seen this "new concepts in pinball" before, I just don't recall where. The artwork looks like it is from an 80's solid state game.
Jim
Quoted from pinwiztom:2nd clue
USA made but
game not from one of the Big 3
That's interesting, because I was looking at stuff like Capt. Hook, Af-Tor, Sharpshooter II, and a couple other off brands because of the earthtones / wood grain in your pic.
The motto sounds like it would be fitting for PinStar kits. At least it's not "The Next Trend".
Jim
Nice one, Tom!
Bally Star Jet - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2347&picno=10971 Great artwork!

Quoted from AvidListener:Hi All,
Ballypin correctly guessed Flash Gordon yesterday. Nice!
And good photo post, Gott_Lieb!
I am not sure if a new photo is forthcoming, so I am going to post one to keep the thread going:

Good guess on the Galaxy Ranger, Mr. Gott_Lieb
I've always like the artwork on Galaxy Ranger. I actually prefer the artwork of the Capt. Fan home version too. Too bad these games were mediocre versions of an already mediocre game.

LAST HINT: This should be the giveaway. It was Jim Lovell's target.
Quoted from pinwiztom:Beautiful BG artwork, back lit animation of the rocket shooting at the moon is also fun
for a carry-over special feature game to game.
One of a few games that I actually got paid to repair/service
back when i freelanced my limited pinball knowledge for cash
for a local operator on games he did not want to bother servicing ( older EMs).

Not thinking it would come back to haunt us.

Quoted from pinwiztom:This pin was a transitional game.
It's a Williams. Probably from the late 60's.

I could tell that it was Williams style of art. Not certain how I knew it was Hayburners II, but I confirmed it to myself.
Quoted from LeonSpinkx:I'm guessing this will be easy but I'm never certain: (and I'm a huge Monty Python fan)

One of the few (non Woodrail) EMs that I have
never seen or played in person.
Hmmmm... a messenger ball game that I've never seen. I know of Skylab / Spacelab, Jubilee / Darling, Flying Circus, Sunset, and Whoopee. Actually, this may be Whoopee. I'm not familiar with the plastic Whoopee used.

WMS Alpine Club - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=63&picno=38352
Next is of the PF again
Quoted from pinwiztom:This one may be tricky
in order to get the exact right game
but it is obvious once you know what to look for.
Magic City / Town?
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:Magic City / Town?
Quoted from Taxman:It was Magic Town (red credit window) while Magic City has white center.
Good point! I forgot to look at the credit window.
Quoted from pinwiztom:hey

BLY Gold Ball - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1024&picno=25862

Next. Should be easy.
Quoted from aobrien5:Flames were going to be my next clue.
That's Mystic again.

GTB Hot Shots - http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=1248 PS I used this same pic some time ago.
And no, Rock is not a "street level" game. And yes, I should have gotten that one, as we've had several Rocks over the years. Still have a PF that is half artwork, half whitewood.
Quoted from pinwiztom:Unless you are familiar
this one might be hard
BLY Transporter the Rescue - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2630&picno=30867. Excellent game! I passed one onto a buddy about 11 years ago. After he got it going, I really regretted that. Turned a customer / friend onto the game, and did an NOS PF swap on it for him last year.
Quoted from Taxman:Tx Sector - I was playing one yesterday. Also missed out on the NBA. Played in a linked tournament yesterday.

Stern Magnum P.I. (whoops! We gave away Stern's next, top secret title!!! )
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:Stern Magnum P.I. (whoops! I / we gave away Stern's next, top secret title!!! )
Quoted from pinwiztom:I did not think this clue was going to be so tough, either that or everyone has grown tired of the quiz game.
Anyway a helpful hint might be
think of this game as what makes pinball
the fun and competitive game of skill it is today.
I;m not tired of the game. I just don't recognize this title. The fonts used make it look like a Gottlieb, but that narrows it down to about 50 games.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:target alpha

GTB Pro Football - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1865&picno=35348
A day late for this one.
Quoted from LeonSpinkx:Time Machine. I have the second highest score on pinside; didn't even need to IPDB it. New clue soon.
http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2565&picno=34258&zoom=1
This is a different type of clue. It's a very popular pin with some upper bits removed.
It took me awhile to process what this is, but I kept thinking about that bar across the lanes. BLY Twilight Zone
Quoted from Taxman:Twilight Zone beneath the mini playfield.
http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2684&picno=37888&zoom=1
Wow! Beaten by 30 seconds again! Way to go, Dave!
Quoted from Taxman:Not very common, but we have one at The Sanctum to play (from the playfield).
Stern Viper - www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2739&picno=2620
Quoted from Taxman:Wow, that was quick. Until The Sanctum go one last year I don't remember playing one. Cool looking game, but I don't particularly like playing.
I just repaired one about 2 months ago, so the image was stuck in my head.
I agree. It's cool to look at, but not that great to play. IMO, it would be a much better game w/o the turret shooter smack dab in the middle of the PF.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:is that the shape of the plastic or has it been cropped?
Cropped
Quoted from pinwiztom:PF plastic: most definitely some 80s era pin, though could be later or Euro mfr
but feeling WMS or maybe BLY, not so much GTB.
Looks like Connie Mitchell's work?
Not Euro. I posted an import once on here (Jolly park), and won't do it again.
Quoted from lmsybiatb:Here ya go

DE Rocky and Bullwinkle - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=23&picno=32136
Quoted from Taxman:I did not want to say cartoon or you may have seen it on TV. But you saw that cabin at the beginning of each episode.
I know the cartoon, but I don't remember the cabin at all.
Quoted from Taxman:Yes, but when I owned one it did not have that nice of a look.
Most don't. The girls all have hair on their legs, after years of games played.
Quoted from aobrien5:Sorry for the blur!

Quoted from StormyX73:Let's try this one.
I was thinking Superman, but that's not it either.
Quoted from Taxman:To me it looks like the edge of a plastic on a support. The left side of the picture is a plastic with the explosion and bricks. The upper right is the playfield below the plastic. The art looks slightly different.
Ah, I see that now. Still, no idea what it is.
Quoted from Taxman:Yup. Pretty sure that it up there. No good close up on IPDB.

This will be easier.
Quoted from Taxman:Hurdy Gurdy

Probably too easy.
Bally Black Pyramid - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=312&picno=53910&zoom=1
Quoted from pinwiztom:Point i wanted to make is
that i do not think this game (nor central park)
were done by parker,
but actually stenholm
what do you guys think?
That's a tough call. There have been a lot of discussions of who did what during that time period. North Star comes to mind. Part of it looks like Parker, while part looks like Stenholm. If you compare Cross Town / Subway to Central Park / Hurdy Gurdy, the cop in CP / HG looks like the men on Cross Town - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=481&picno=9702&zoom=1 and http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=601&picno=61311. It's my belief that Stenholm was told to emulate Parker, when doing Gottlieb art at first. I say this, because Stenholm's artwork changed its style around this time.
Sorry for the heartache on the last one, Tom.
Gottlieb Contest - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=564&picno=30109
Quoted from pinwiztom:how about this one
Looks like a Bally of some sort from around the mid-80's, but I have no clue.
Quoted from pinwiztom:how about this one
I was thinking that the only thing it could have been was X's & O's, and it is - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=2822&picno=7975&zoom=1
Quoted from pinwiztom:one of my favorite examples of PF babes

GTB Genie - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=997&picno=36053 Some of Morison's most fantastic work on that game!
Quoted from Taxman:Checking Who Dunnit
Yup - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=3685&picno=8340
I don't like it much either. But it is cool that I don't know any other game where you can lower your score (not just award or bonus) through betting.
Several Gottlieb Sys3 games where the design was by Jon Norris, featured an "all or nothing" option at certain points in the game. If you did not make a specific shot in the allotted time or drain, you would lose your score completely.
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:The colors look like WMS Pat Hand, maybe.
Confirmed. Pat Hand - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1767&picno=11456
Next
Quoted from Taxman:Damn, I didn't get it until I started thinking of a newer game with pops on a left orbit.
Left orbit (especially through pops) = most Lawlor games
Quoted from Taxman:Yes, but I didn't know the pops were on the left until the updated picture.
So here is a cow -
Twister?
Quoted from pinwiztom:here is the only cow on twister
I was judging by the PF colors and the blurriness of the artwork. Next guess would be X-Files, but I don't recall a cow.
Quoted from pinballkim:Ok, one to go with your morning coffee.
Game Plan Andromeda?
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:Game Plan Andromeda?
Quoted from pinwiztom:glub glub
I'm out. I just checked all of the Ballys and one Williams that I though it may have been. This looks like the artwork used on mid to late 60's United shuffle / ball bowlers.

Neat layout on that one, Gott_Lieb
Next one:
I worked on the second LTL that I have ever seen a couple of days ago. I forgot how much fun it was! Between the extra left slingshot and the spinning bumper, it's a very lively game.

BLY Motordome
Not really sure where the TNT clue ties in,
but i have never played this pin, maybe but once.
The original visual clue,
always thought it was some sort of gear wear chest plate
but was looking in all the wrong places.
TNT = The Next Trend It's what Bally was pitching their new 6803 series as. Most had "TNT" on the apron. Never really caught on apparently.
And in searching for TNT Ballys, I found your clue, which I would have never found otherwise. Bally City Slicker - http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=527&picno=46045&zoom=1
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:Sorry for the crappy pic. Nothing decent on the IPDB, and I did not take a great pic of it either. From the BG
HINT: The original T Z
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:HINT: The original TZ
HINT 2: The playfield artwork between the sample and production run was totally different and a different color scheme. The cabinet had the same art, but again a totally different color scheme. Kind of an oddity, IMHO.
