I wonder if they get all dressed up like that for their regular podcast. This show rocks

Cool! Get to listen to these dickfores at work tonight. Fun

    Content A+
    Annoying Animal sounds F.
Can we agree it's time to retire these? Not sure what purpose they serve besides hurting the listeners ears.
If I am the outlier here then carry on I guess.

The best animal sounds are the ones that DennisK does! Could listen to those forever.

‘F’ for Fun or for F-14 jet or for Great?

You’re not alone, plenty of people dislike the goat and the eagle and the loon and the owl and the peacock

Every time I hear that Eagle I look for the nearest United States flag to admire. Similar feeling as to when the F-16s from Buckley fly over my house.

Love a homebrew focused podcast! Probably won’t appeal to all but will be super interesting to the rest of us.

    #4062 1 year ago

After listening I think another potential strength of this podcast will be the ability to follow up as people develop their games. There is always going to changes to plans through the development process. We don't really get to hear about why things get cut in commercial games and everyone usually assumes it's BOM but it will be interesting to hear when homebrewers change things from a design perspective and why.

    #4063 1 year ago

That Quidditch upper playfield is I think the most impressive thing I've ever seen in a homebrew. Even if it turns out to not be reliable enough for production game. (I'm not saying I think it would, I don't know)

ZMeny Can someone do an episode on licensing?
I would love to hear an indepth discussion on how licensing works, why decisions are made and costs associated.
Eg: why doesnt LZ have stairway? Who owns the rights? Is it a different entity to the other stuff? How much extra $ per machine would they have to add to cover it. Etc
    Wonka- Candyman
DE BTTF - MJ Fox likeness
How does IP work? JP has the name but none of the actors except Nedry. Again, what would that have cost? How much would movie clips have cost.
GNR - Why was it fat axl footage and not 80 90’s footage when they were in their prime? Would that have cost more?
Harry Potter rumour - if JKR signs off on it, does the manufacturer then have to get permission off every actor to use likeness, audio etc
If i draw a person as a caricature instead of a true likeness, does that require approval? Ie GNR topper

Preferably get someone outside of a manufacturer as no one in the manufacturing space seem to be able to answer anything honestly as everything is so top secret .

Might sound boring to some, but it is interesting to learn how and why decisions are made in this hobby.

No one has voiced displeasure of the Loon... The calm wonderous call of the loon from a still lake in a spring morn... ah...

Hey, KadeP , while you're waiting for someone to do a podcast on that topic, you can watch this seminar from Pintastic.

I think costs vary so much that you won't get satisfying answers to questions about costs, but there are some good answers out there about what needs to be licensed and variations in a person's (or IP-holder's) willingness to grant a license.

Maybe rename the network to The Patreon Network? Can still keep TPN initials. You guys have become obsessed with it.

I'd much rather hear a handful of patreon plugs (giving me an opportunity to throw a couple bucks at a podcast I want to support) than hear a bunch of advertisements for things I give zero shits about.

I dunno if anyone here ever listens to any podcasts on the iHeartRadio network, but they're notoriously bad about the frequency, duration, and repetition of their ad spots. This is nothing, by comparison, and it at least directly supports the folks making your commute or workday more bearable.

We try to keep our Patreon comments to a minimum. On one side we want to express how grateful we are for the Patreon supporters we have but at the same time we don't want to annoy people who just don't want to hear it. It is a careful balance for sure.

Don’t worry about it you guys put a lot of time and effort into your content if you want to spend 5 minutes shouting out a way for people to support you go right ahead. You guys are doing great stuff, just need that Flipping out with friends audio released as a podcast lol

    #4091 1 year ago

Yeah, that part about what games earn the most on location was interesting.

    #4092 1 year ago

Oh yeah, I picked up a Johnny Matrix a few days ago. Funny hearing about the host talk about how much fun he had playing it after Scooby Doo. I agree that this game is a total combo-flow monster. What a blast to play. Moving out Avengers to make room for it.

    #4096 1 year ago

I had a 9 hour round trip yesterday to pickup a pin. When I finished listening to my normal podcasts, I decided to check out some pinball podcasts. Pinball Party was first on the list, so it was the path of least resistance when fiddling with Apple Play & driving 75mph.

Pinball Party is now my new favorite pinball podcast and Jason my favorite host. I thought I listened to the first one or two, but at that time I guess it didn't jibe with me. I remember thinking Jason was almost too polished sounding. Like I was listening to a radio host or whatever with pinball talking points. Not a bad thing, but didn't sound genuine to me. Maybe not, but that's my recollection.

I started with this latest episode and worked my way down (skipping the Danesi interview. P3 = Don't care). The regular guests of Nudge guy and operator guy are welcome additions and provide interesting thoughts and opinions to the discussions. Really liking the chemistry of all three guys and also the appearances of the operator's arcade owner wife. She came across as knowledgeable and having plenty of experience to back up what she said and most importantly was interesting.

I appreciate the honest opinions of games, such as Halloween, Scooby, Bond 60th, stupid prices, etc. When each podcast begins with lathering up Flipping Out for the first 5 minutes, I was skeptical this wouldn't be a spinoff of the Pinball Show. Happily it's not and I can listen at 1x speed and never had to drum solo the 30 second skip button (aside from skipping to the 5 min mark each episode).

However, and this needs to be said....holy shit, that award show episode SUCKED. Not because of the content, the conversations were mostly interesting, but they kept being derailed by Amanda. When other people are talking, she has to let them finish their sentences before jumping in and interrupting...and then be sure you're contributing to the conversation.....no one cares about anyone else's dreams. If you listened, then you know. We need to hear what everyone says one at a time.

Looking forward the the next episode. Pretty sure I actually subbed to it so I know when a new one is out.

The Danesi episode was really good. If I recall it was mostly focused on Scott’s background and his games prior to P3 with a heavy emphasis on TNA and the music. If you find time I would give it a try.
