    Quoted from ZMeny:

Still waiting on a definition that makes actual sense besides “that’s the way it’s always been described”. Based on the TPN Discord, sounds like the term isn’t agreed upon by anyone

Here's Elwin's description of his design:
"More of a traditional – I wouldn’t call it a fan layout – but it is more of a traditional layout where most of the important shots are up the middle. "

Wish zack and Dennis could do 2 episodes a week, they are a great team. I miss Coast 2 Coast with 3 episodes a week, Nate couldn't wait to talk about, a half working pin he found on the road somewhere. I still wonder whatever happened to the infamous " You don't live in California. " Bakersfield, Bride of Pinbot he dragged all the way back to San Diego.

TPN’s Zach spoke with deeproot Correspondent & VIP Media, Chris Chandler, about his experiences touring the deeproot facilities.

HUGE credit given to Chandler on this broadcast. Zach didn’t take it easy on him and asked the questions that needed to be asked. Chandler was not fazed and proved why he’s one of the best that TPN has to offer.

Thanks for representing The Pinball Network at the deeproot media event last week.

The sound mix in this is really off. Chris is all mid-hi and you're all mid-low with a lower volume. It's like you're mumbling under your breath compared to him. I know you're still dialing this in, but you need less bass in your mix to pull your mic EQ more into midrange, for sure. Also, a popper stopper would help. You're off angle, but you're still hitting it too much.

Don't think so. Generally the TPN video content isn't usually mirrored on the podcast feed in audio-only form. But you could always ask Zach if he'd do it special this once. He used to do it for the SDTM stuff back in the day.

Well, there’s a first for everything. Zach is right and Dennis is wrong.

I’m in total agreement with Zach on the shoes off in the house debate. Surprising stance from Den Den as he’s always so Covidcentric (if that’s a word.) I’ve always removed my shoes before visiting friends and almost all have told me how much they appreciate it.

Hey Zach...I got this sign off of Amazon and it works great!

What’s better than episode #1 of puppet pals? Well .... episode 2. Top notch writing, performing and life lessons. Frickin hilarious.

Zaccario the singing mailman with his operatic delivery, joined by a chanting tenor brought tears of joy down my face.

Moppy’s best lines were at 1:24 mark singing,”suck on my d*@k”. Also 12:24, “I’m going to cut your little nutz off”! . Maybe this tuff talking muppet is already a made puppet. My hope that he develop into a deranged, threatening, egomaniacal streetwise-thug might come true yet.

    #1821 3 years ago

So funny! My favorite was the song about the deal gone bad. "Fu@# that Guy" LOL.

I never would have guessed who is the madman behind all this. But the song about the 1st tourney gave it away....

Great discussion on GNR. I agree with Zach on the need to cut down on the Multiballs, outside of the song modes. I think it would be great if these 4 modes were single ball modes..kind of like Elwin's JP 3 control room modes and the T-rex modes (outside of T-Rex Multiball mode). You'd still have the the risk/reward of song mode multi balls, while keeping the game going longer to hear the songs, which is of course what a music themed pin is meant for. And now add in more difficulty outside of song modes, to take advantage of trying to do some flow and explore the shots (ramp combos, keep diverter closed on left, open up the orbits.

Where I disagree on Zach...better shooting then POTC? No POTC NIB to sell these days, lol sorry couldn't resist.

Lastly, where I am concerned most is not so much the multi balls, but the rule that discourages trapping up and playing in control. As a person's skills improves in pinball we all know trapping up during Multiball is so key to success and makes for better shot flow.

    #1837 3 years ago

Great show @ZMeny, and thank you for going into detail on the distributor situation for the GnR rollout. You hit the nail on the head as that is exactly how I feel at the end of the day, we want to honor the distribution network but JJP has a decision to make in the future or else they have just instructed their CE buyers to skip the distribution route going forward.

    #1838 3 years ago

Zach, as a true pinball player, Dennis nailed your hide on GNR assessment. BTW, are you still a Stern Distributor or did you go exclusively to JJP? (Sounded like it from the way you talked on episode 33.)

Dennis is definitely the more pinball savy guru in pinball than your ideas of what makes pinball. If we are talking about pinball execution and flow, with all the geometry needed to make a great pinball machine, Dennis’s assessment on GNR is right on the money. Your retorts don’t hold water and all you could say to counter Dennis is he hasn’t played it yet??? Tisk tisk... In addition, you showed almost no class in putting down each good point Dennis was making, with your inserted, “wrong” audio clip. Grow up my friend, Dennis far out classes you in a debate about pinball, with his superior knowledge and understanding.

No one has to play a game to discover from a stream or viewing the layout, whether it works as a good pinball machine or not. Can see straight away from just looking at Houdini’s layout for example, that the shots are really tight and the geometry is not so good.

I trust Dennis to give a fair and objective review. You on the other hand, with your bias sales/shill glasses constantly on, not so much. What Dennis and other top pinball players have had to say about GNR not being a very good playing game or being very multiball heavy makes sense. But do not argue that GNR has plenty of theme assets. If all it takes to make you happy in a $12.5k purchase is plenty of lights, with some concert footage on the back box, along with a ball lock or two, you’re pretty easy to please. But a really good playing pinball machine???? Agree with Dennis on that one: GNR doesn’t appear to be a fun shooter when it comes to real pinball game flow combos, with real objectives to be accomplished, besides just getting a song to play, with multiball after multiball to keep the song going over and over again. Looks monotonous just like the stream we saw from Buffalo Pinball, like chopping wood. Although Kevin did a good job with what he had.

I do appreciate your effort in pinball media although. Maybe just turn down the GNR hype train a bit, as you’re beginning to sound a lot like Kaneda. Dennis is the only reason your show stays somewhat credible. Nate Shivers you’ll never be, lol.

    Quoted from Thunderbird:

How about you trust the people who have actually fing played it or play it yourself, there are quite a few out there who have, and it seems the reviews are all very very consistent!

What you don‘t get is that the show works and is interresting BECAUSE Zach & Dennis are so different.

Also Zach is representing Zach being Zach, and he does this way better then Nate Shivers!

Everyone being on the same page is a snooze fest.

    Quoted from Breger1:

Why need to add additional Multiball modes sprinkled on top of an already Multiball heavy game?

Could’ve been a nice hurry up shot like Jack the monkey or hyper loop hurry up. Not necessarily to add more Multiballs.

Probably can make achievable MB modes harder to get in the menu settings.

I didn't think the discussion was very controversial. I disclosed the limitations on my experience, my concerns as a potential buyer from the video, and shared some feedback I'd heard from others. I love the immersion but don't think the gameplay is something I'd personally be into buying, but I'd want to play it to formalize the opinion (that said, I've played so many games at this point I generally assess if I'll enjoy how a pin shoots by watching significant video of a leveled pin with a decent player on it; it's just geometry after all and not magic, what you see is what you get).

I think the pin will appeal to a lot of people. I think it will be well rated, especially by collectors who are after theme integration (even if they aren't huge GnR fans) and I think this is a smash hit for JJP. Good on them for making a pin that has broad appeal. I don't think it'll cater to everyone, but what pin does? The subjective differences we all have in terms of rules and geometry is one of the interesting things about pinball (to me at least), and why I didn't poop all over Zach's opinion just because it differed from my own first impressions.

Zach putting in the silly sound effects around my words is just a Zach thing, it doesn't bother me.

Zachs sound effects are the best and I crack up every time. Especially the "wrong". It makes the conversation way more entertaining and its ridiculous to me that some individuals in this forum get butt hurt about it acting like he is being a bully to you. We all know 100% that you could kick Zachs ass in a fight and Zach secretly fears you. I love the jabs you guys give each other and that is what makes an entertaining show.

Silverball Chronicles with David and Ron

Episode 8: Moving Units Part 2 – The Class of 1981

    Visit Our Silverball Swag Store
    https://silverballswag.com/collections/silverball-chronicles

David and Ron are going to finish what they started last month. As mentioned in the previous podcast, from 1975 to 1980 Bally were breaking sales records. It seemed that Paul Faris’s art team could do no wrong but by 1981 the gaming industry’s footing was feeling shaky.

In an effort to hold ground and boost sales Bally push out some of their most creative works ever. The Class of 1981 was, and still is, the pinnacle of pinball art.

Join us as we talk about Xenon’s tube shot and sound package, polaroid pictures, Kevin O’Connor’s jeep, Claude Fernandez stealing design ideas from Steve Ritchie, Margaret Hudson being a trail blazer for woman in pinball, annoying in lane/out lane designs and the peak of Bally’s stunning art design. Also, did you know Kevin O’Conner had a jeep?
