New TPN Provider, New TPN Series! Welcome Duncan from Arcade Crusade and check out the awesome and thorough video he did about how to rebuild pinball flippers. His new series for TPN will cover all sorts of pinball repair and maintenance.

What Zach said. If there are any repair/maintenance topics you would like to see covered in this series, please reach out to one of us and we will do our best to cover it. I've pretty much wrapped up rebuilding all 3 of my pins, so hopefully I'll find a new project pin to film a bunch of videos on soon.

Some basics... Adjusting leaf switches, using a multimeter to trace issues, and changing pop bumpers

Agreed. I need to find a game to rebuild some pops on. A lot of people are turned off by replacing the lamp sockets and it's really not too bad once you get the hang of it. A few videos on basic multimeter use, reading schematics, etc. would be great.

This will come in handy. I have to rebuild a flipper! Would a series on how/when to install "protection" on your playfield? Mylar, Cliffy, etc. It would be helpful to the newer folks in the hobby.

My biggest issue was replacing the coil stop and then the pop kept blowing a fuse... Turned out the pop ring wasn't aligned correctly and was sticking. Took months to figure it out...

Silverball Chronicles Episode 3: Zombie Pinball - The Gottlieb System 3 Era

Our Previous episodes have all been from the early solid-state era. The last 70’s and early 80’s was where the industry went though some of its largest shifts, we call that ‘disruption’ now-a-days. The exit of electro-mechanical pinball and the entrance of solid-state was a watershed moment in the hobby.

Some companies excelled in the new market and some fell almost immediately. Gottlieb well… they became zombies, just refusing to die and walking on and on and on… hanging in there… Somehow…

Today we’re going to review their final years of Gottlieb in the System 3 era.

As always we love to hear from you and we can always be reached at [email protected]

    Real nice above ground$5000
    Nice inground pool here$28500

    #1030 4 years ago

Well, with an above ground pool you're way less likely to die by falling in there (and drown or smash your head in an empty pool) by accident.

    That's a good Thing!

    Quoted from romulusx:

I totally get it, just messing around

    #1032 4 years ago

    I have additional questions.

Did you buy that house from Greg?

That'd only be fair since you sell him every Stern Pro that comes out.

(Sorry, just tired of corona boredom.)

    That's a good Thing!

Another thing an above ground pool will do is leave a 4’ x 12” deep scar on the ground when hit by a tornado.I lost 24000 gallons of water in 3 seconds After the tornado I put in an inground

    #1034 4 years ago

I have an inflateable paddling pool on my balcony that did not yet fly away in a tornado or leave a scar (since there is no lawn).

    Plz kill me!

Really enjoy the latest Silverball Chronicles. But tell me, will there be a follow up on episode one?

    #1041 4 years ago

Was Butch Peel really fired by JJP or is this just a rumour?

    #1042 4 years ago
    Quoted from mtn-:

Really enjoy the latest Silverball Chronicles. But tell me, will there be a follow up on episode one?

Yes. The research on the Ritchie episodes is all done... Since The king of flow is so important to Pinball we wanted to stretch out the content. There are 3 more Ritchie episodes

probably because 135% of all points come from the plunge.

    Quoted from Gorgar666:

Why wasn’t Gottlieb Arena not mentioned,.....ok, here come the jokes.

The same reason that the Ford Model T wasn't mentioned?

(Neither one is a Gottlieb System 3 pinball machine.)

Silverball Chronicles Episode 3: Zombie Pinball - The Gottlieb System 3 Era

Interesting episode and a good listen. Have to admit I'm disappointed "Big Hurt" was glossed over and not given a few minutes. Has to be the best and most loaded Gottlieb and got nothing.

$60,000 for a pool ,did you want an Olympic size pool with a grandstand , I'd get some more quotes , but you're right , I would rather save up the extra to have an in-ground pool rather than half do it with an above ground pool .You should have tried all your psychology skills to change her mind .
I'm really in enjoying the Pinball Show podcasts , but I am missing sdtm shows with you and Greg

Believe it or not, 50-60 grand around here doesn’t get you a huge pool. I had pool and to be honest Ohio and Indiana is a horrible place to have a pool. My recommendation is to not get a pool at all but if you cant resist the urge to get a above ground because its going to be far less expensive and easier to tear down and throw away after you realize that buying a pool was the worst purchase that you ever made in your life. The day that i tore my pool down was one of the happiest days of my life.

I think you're right , as a kid we had a fully tiled , salt water , solar heated pool with a waterfall and spa , it didn't get used enough especially when it regularly gets over 100 degrees here . It is now filled in and is a Garden , not from us but the people who brought the house .

I would own a pool if i lived somewhere where i didnt have to open and close it but we get very little summer in Ohio and Indiana and its just not worth the hassle to me. Zach is young and full of energy so that helps but when he gets older he will be scratching his head and saying “ehh.....this is the dumbest thing that ive ever did in my life”. We are more of a hot tub state than a pool state.
