I have already made Dracula for you

Next is Firepower

I have tried VP before. Not a big fan of the tools

#1550 9 years ago

I never tried Future pinball. I guess at the end of the day i would like to see more pre-rendered pinball games like Timeshock by Pro-pinball. Not that the real-time FP and VP aren't fun its just that they will always far short graphically compared to something pre-rendered. Frame rate too. Since a pre-rendered game isn't processing as much geometry it will always have a higher frame rate and there by better game play(i think). And it looks soooooo much better.

#1551 9 years ago

I would also like to see more attention into making pinball games 3D. It just lends itself to pinball so well. My friend have a virtual pinball machine cutting edge with every toy that you could imagine but, It just looks like i am viewing it threw a fish tank. Flat and with no depth perception. Pinball arcade has been talking about this i believe and i think they should move forward as Zen pinball did because it is simply amazing. I have purchased every single game they put out because of this.

So the other day i was cleaning up and going threw some old paperwork and i came across the shipping invoice for a pinball machine i sold to a very nice gentleman in California. Never bothered to look at the recipe until recently and discovered it was none other the Farsight Studio's!!! It was my Dracula that i had fully restored lol. I feel honored to be a small part of the development of this latest release

#1622 9 years ago
Quoted from bub2010:

Definitely different for sure. So in some part you'll always be able to "play" and "see" your machine. Heh.

Hahaha yes, Pinball arcade has made it "Immortal" Mwhahahaha

#1623 9 years ago

Its too funny because now i have been playing it seeing if i notice the one or two small things i did and or added to the real game that weren't necessarily part of the original game.

How many years until video pinball looks like this? May be sooner then you think

Working on my VP10 Addams right now! No comparison. I guess that pairs well with ios users that buy there stuff and that is all they expect. I can't believe they didn't even update the base sound effects on this table after all the money they spent on the license. I would love to know the salary that their 3d modelers get just out of curiosity. This model of The Addams Family i have created took me alone two weeks to create with one computer. Why anyone would want to wait when far better versions of TAF from VP9 have been out for years.

Its a little bit of that sure. Sour grapes. I won't deny that but they were looking for 3d modelers at the time and after looking into the company's history i am probably better off anyway.

Several of them have left mid-project at various points.

I heard the same thing. Just sounds like a real flakey company.

#1762 9 years ago

Something i made just for

#1772 9 years ago

I knew it was a long shot and i live on the East coast anyway. It's just everything this company does or doesn't do that drains my balls.

#1774 9 years ago
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

I decided a few months ago to never give them another dime unless things drastically improve with their code.

I second that..

Would kill for that running & pyprocgame, it probably does work but cannot test it unfortunately.

You mean running VP on IOS?

I honestly don't by any means have a gripe with Farsight Studio's what so ever. I wasn't looking for or in need of any work, i just thought it would be some interesting work to do, something just for fun.
I really used to respect and support their efforts since ball one. When it was considered "cutting edge" And in general sure, i enjoy playing FS tables now and then but usually only on a console based platform to get the best pinexperience. This "cashing in" on the multi-platform release format they are doing more lately just imo, takes away from something that could be much better and possible great...JACKPOT!!!!

I am however very excited about the new release of Visual Pinball 10 and have seen its possibilities. Its just awesome both visually and physically. But its benefits of being open source might i think also limit its true worth. With so many authors making so many tables i would imagine it time consuming to find the best representation of what ever table you want to play /\/\/\/\==-O

When i see games like the new Timeshock with its pre-rendered method then look at TPA's its just so disappointing on so many levels. And i know it apples and o-rings but its just not the right way to do pinball in my opinion. A poly-based real-time, 3d mesh rendered format will never play and look as well as a pre-rendered one. Pre-blended will always look and play a million times better (fps, physics etc) There's not even a single polygon its just an image, .jpg, whatever.
The one player will never beat the second player technologicaly, ever.. Pre-renderered will always lend itself better to pinball, imo:")

I build 3d tables in 3dsMax and Maya and to try and put it into perspective, TPA runs at 30 or 60 frames per second im not sure so that means your grafix card and processor has to render and create one frame/image 30 times per single second, where as a single "fully" rendered image with an 8core processor, light scattering refraction's/reflections the works, takes on average of up to 8 hours per single frame.
I guess to sum up, TPA just feels like im playing something cartoonish and out-dated. From the still unchanged collision, flipper, bumper sound effects to the lag on an effort to attempt real-time lighting i have a hard time giving even 5 dollars. 46 tables in total, do the math, in fact i wonder what that high score is?

I'm sure Farsight has seen the images i have been posting but it was never an intention to cheese them off or tilt their balls, more so to maybe inspire them to achieve that wizard mode, get the extra ball!! and really re-gain their passion for pinball rather then their multiball madness

#1790 9 years ago
Quoted from Kineticross:

I don't care about FarSight's reputation as a company. The entire reason I love Pinball Arcade is because it's brought pinball back for real and more and more people are being introduced to it. While I enjoy hanging out with some of the people at FarSight I primarily play Pinball Arcade to play all the amazing pinball machines I never knew about from when I was young.

Good point. I guess in the end i do agree. I has at the very least helped regain interest in the hobby of playing pinball.

#1797 9 years ago
Quoted from horseypin:

Can play anywhere normally impossible to play a game

Quoted from PismoArcade:

but I really like being able to play these tables anytime I like.

This seems to be the on going argument in defense of TPA or any multiple have your cake and eat it to game device that you can play anywhere at any time but do any of you really do that? While fishing, on the toilet or during a Metallica concert?...I mean sure i can appreciate having something to do on the plain but that would be about the only time i would find it useful. And even then i would probably just listen to music instead to avoid the motion sickness, same goes for long car rides. I see your point but again, if i am going to do something i'm passionate about i would rather experience it the best way possible. On a big screen tv with surround sound sitting on my leather sofa and with get this...actual buttons to push! If i'm fishing i want to catch fish, if i'm out to dinner i want to eat and if i'm on the toilet....how long does it take you to use the toilet? lol. Just seems like a big waste of money if you ask me considering how much i would "actually" use it. Kind of like The pet rock or Chia pet, COLLECT THEM ALL!! So they wind up in your attic collecting dust...cough

#1804 9 years ago
Quoted from fosaisu:

Obviously you don't have young kids ... "toilet breaks" are about the only time I'm playing video games these days!

You would be correct sir. No kids lol didn't take that into consideration.

Fan boy Sorry i just can't stand Apple stuff, i hate it, hate developing for it, hate using it and would never buy anything from them. Its an evil greedy company that makes shit software meant for simple minded people like my grandmother. And now it makes us true players that want to play it on an "actual" gaming device suffer for it. I want nothing to do with Crapple.

Why anybody would buy a product from a company that has to put suicide nets around the building to keep their employ's from killing themselves is so selfish, ignorant and elitist it makes me sick. And i know HTC and some of the other "device" corporations aren't much better but Apple takes the cake by a mile. But hey...Merica' right? I would NEVER buy an Apple product or develop anything for it. Its artsy bullshit and sub-par to all other competing devices on every level.

Just keep following the heard. Ask anyone who develops software like myself and does programming and they will tell you the same exact thing. I'm not looking to pick a fight but its shit dude. I use nothing but windows and android and never have had a problem with viruses if that is your only argument. Unless you look at porn then stay where you are. Apple is over priced closed source crap. But hey, in a way i have to thank them because it keeps Windows on there toes, competition is good for the rest of us consumers so keep giving them your money and we will reap the benefits in the end right?

HEY! That net isn't to keep people from killing themselves! TOTAL LIES!

That net is to keep people who want to kill themselves from landing on the people who still want to work there!

My bad. Just mad. Stupid fad. I'll just be here waiting months for a game cause of a stupid iPad, and that makes me sad Hope you are all glad.

TPA gets me and everybody excited show casing their latest and greatest tables at CES with their real-time lighting and better graphics on what else... a PS4. Did they show it on an iPad? Hell no, because it looks like ass and they know it. They show it on a PS4!? So here i go out and buy a PS4 just to play TPA on and now i am last in line, every time. Pisses me off. And because they release on all these mobile devices they are limiting the polygon count across the board so they will play "good" on shitty devices leaving us guys with PS4's and powerful gaming systems designed to play games cheated out of something that could have been much much better. I still argue that i have no problem with the multi-platform release because it gets pinball great exposure and creates more income for FS but the tables they create for the PS4 and XBOX one should be a separate entity using the full capabilities of the next gen console instead of being held back and out-dated. Next-gen should be benefiting from the extra income not suffering from it which it exactly what is happening. Bobby admits this himself right here.
2 minutes in...

#t=119

Look, i'm a 3d modeler/programmer and game developer. I know the deal. I'm sure they are using the Unity3d that will automatically generate different polygons counts depending on the platform and maybe they are but i am just going by what the developer said.

Lots and lots of negative comments on their latest Facebook posting. People are pissed

#1843 9 years ago

Its all good and sorry for the ranting was just bored really. I have a tendency to fly off the handle with ios stuff based on dealing with developing for it which is such a pain in the pop bumper. Going to try and get TPA's TAF today and try it out. I'll try to stay open minded Is it out for pc yet? looking forward to direct x 11. Come on TPA!!! lol

#1847 9 years ago

Just played TAF on my Android device for the first time. After putting on my glasses and playing a couple games its ok. It looks like a TAF, sounds like a TAF plays like, well, it plays like i am on the moon. My honest opinion or rating would be a 6.7/10.

Android pro's and con's

Pro's-
*It looks like a TAF.
*Sounds just like a TAF.
*It's portable.(i can play it on the toilet) Yippy.
*It's very easy.

Con's-
*It's very easy.(no challenge)
*Ball physics are poor.(Moon physics)
*Shoots the ball out of the two scoops differently then a real machine. The chair scoop shoots the ball out as if it is broken, very slow. The swamp scoop shoots the ball two fast, hard to gain control.
*"The Power" magnets act very strangely sometimes weak and other times too strong.
*Lighting is bad.(No eye candy whatsoever) No reflections, shadows, very plain looking.
*The nudging is a little ridiculous. If you have normal man sized hands you will be hitting it often.
*Can not access the operator's menu without paying for it.

Is it worth $5.00, sure of course it is. Could they have done better, sure of course they could have.

*Update

Just played on the ipad.... buggy, clitchy, dropped frames and it crashes. It crashed three times. I'll upload a video to Youtube so you can see for yourself. Disappointing.

Miles better in my opinion.

I would have to agree, better looking graphics, lighting, physics and sound effects. This is just what TPA needs is some competition. Where was this hiding?

IDK, it seems everytime i play TPA i get the ball stuck (done it several times) and the game just sits there like a dumb bunny. No logic in place for a stuck ball... Very frustrating because i am reluctant to play a good game and put a lot of time into it only to have it clitch out and sit there like an idiot. I mean i even put ball trap logic on my LBP2 tables and they are free to play? TPA really needs to hire some real people. They just continue to pump out the same 'ol crap and i refuse to buy it. There needs to be a TPA 2.0

Did you guys see the Zaccaria app is planned for a PC Steam release. 38 tables for day one with portrait mode, configurable cameras, adjustable lighting, physics, etc.. If you buy now via IndieGoGo it costs just $25. After that it will cost at least $35 on Steam. It has already been Greenlit on Steam too:

The image below is just from the mobile app, so the PC build will get a full graphics update.

Yea they make a great product that is far superior to TPA.
