If a guy can only have two pinballs, what would be some of the best combinations to have side by side. I am talking about playability and lastability on this one. Not asthetics or similar games from same designer, etc. Not talking about the two rarest games. We are talking about PLAY here....

** Where the two would compliment each other with different styles of play that would make each feel fresh and new again after playing the other one.
** Where playing one helps your skills on the other, and vice versa.
** Where between the two of them, almost every type of pinball shot is covered.
** Where going back and forth between the games makes you love the other one even more!
** Where having these two games would make a guy say ' this is all I need!'

The ULTIMATE side by side PLAYING EXPERIENCE!!

Let the discussion begin.......

ACDC & Tron
Shadow & BSD
LOTR & IM

IJ & MM.

Tz, addams and bsd, ,shadow, mm
I think a stop and go game with a fast flowing short ball time game is a good pair

Fish Tales and North Star

MET LE + TWD LE

#11 9 years ago

STLE and Jack in the Box

#12 9 years ago

I think TZ and MM make the perfect pair.

BK and BK2K

ACDC and any other game! The second game does not even have to work....

True !

LOTR + IM seems a very good combination - deep with long ball times vs shallow, fast and addictive.
Might try ACDC + WoZ

#22 9 years ago

TZ & Wh20

#23 9 years ago

ES and WW? Same designer Lawlor? Are they that different? Seeing a few vote for this combo.

#24 9 years ago

I have a T2 with a WW on the way. I am hoping those would fit the bill of a perfect pair. Any thoughts from the crowd if they would pair up well?

#25 9 years ago

Tron and IJ

#26 9 years ago

As much as I love Metallica, I'd say I500 & LOTR next to each other is a good combo.

#27 9 years ago

Fishtales for simple beauty yet VERY fun and challenging short games.
WOZ (or TH?) for extremely deep adventure and new style of play.

I honestly can never imagine only having a 2 game collection. If you have a room with 2 pins, there must be a way to make it 5 pins.

5 pins is the miniumum I can see ever being worthwhile to have for a small home colelction.

If only 2 then 1 needs to be fast and 'just 1 more' style of play. The other needs to be more depth and when you are ready to hunker down for a 45min adventure.

Centaur, MM and ACDC are all studs, but from different era's. Any legitimate pairing needs to include a game from 1980's, as an appetizer, so this is why Centaur was chosen. MM is simply the best B/W game ever made. Agree with this or not, it is the gold standard imho, from which all others are judged. Can't think of anything it is lacking (there are things that can be improved but no show stoppers). Finally, there needs to be a Stern in this ultimate pinball collection, but picking one is not easy. ACDC allows much strategery (it's a real word coined by George W Bush) and is a great risk / reward style game that can be played for points or pleasure.

There are so many different possibilities and everyone has different tastes I really dont think there is a perfect pair ? I would get something that is deep and stop and go and then the opposite of that with not so deep rule set and fast ball times and they will compliment each other nicely

Yup, I'd say those two would make a good pair. Probably one of the best budget price pairs.

Stargazer & EBD - Best of both worlds
Nineball & EBD - Wizard vs. Chet
Gottlieb 300 and Bow & Arrow - 2 classic great EM's
Stargazer & Quicksilver
Stargazer & Nineball
Dragonfist & Catacomb
EBD & Medusa
EBD & Bow&Arrow

I could pair a bunch of games in my collection. Endless possibilities. I do like SG and EBD paired though.

BSD and WCS94 If you can master both no game will ever stand a chance.

#33 9 years ago

Ive got ToM and LOTR and am pretty happy with the pair!

Both great games, but too similar if you only have room for two. ES or WW, and ? is a great start.

Have to agree here. Strictly for personal lastability/playability, I would also say...

TSPP/MET
Funhouse/LOTR
TZ/AFM
TWD/MB

Edit: let's add TOTAN & TZ

#45 9 years ago

I have IMVE and Avengers LE

I would like:

ACDC / Metallica

TSPP / FGY

#46 9 years ago

TSPP and LotR. Thank you Keith Johnson.

#47 9 years ago

AC/DC premium and Centaur. The best of the new with the best of the old. The fact that I'm lucky enough to have both did not effect my decision at all...

#48 9 years ago

Attack from mars and revenge from mars .....

#49 9 years ago

AFM - TSPP
MM - LotR
Champion pub - CFTBL

My first two pins which I purchased 2 years ago in the same week:

Tron Pro and LOTR.

Still have both (although I've upgraded my originals to nicer versions). Great 1-2 punch.
