Band of Gypsys and Seasons in the Abyss are the first couple that popped in my head.

Bad Brains
Morrison Hotel.

2nd song, after Freak Out, and almost the perfect song :

Nevermind was a landmark album, with great flow. Flow means A LOT to me. I despise iTunes for mixing up the order of songs on some albums ( especially rap). The artist and producer put them in sequence for many reasons, and it should be respected. So I dig where yer comin from OP.
But, in my opinion, In Utero was their top o the mountain masterpiece.

BEASTIE BOYS--Check Your Head
Mmmm,...it does go well with the chicken. Delicious again Peter.

#122 8 years ago

I can never choose between Rust in Peace, Reign in Blood, and Kill em All.
All 3 : front to back, start to finish, beginning to end ; amen.
But I'll take Reign in Blood for the win Pat.

King Curtis is the shiznit.

Quoted from jardine:

Is this the first and only nomination of Iron Maiden in this thread!!! With some guys screaming for a Maiden pin (me included, just not the screaming part...lol), I would have thought that they would have been nominated a few more times.
Great album, thumbs up for you good sir!

Doh !
IRON MAIDEN-- Killers / Piece of Mind
MELVINS--Houdini

Now just hang on a damn minute Jamie Flowers...
The green album has some really good tracks too ! Its not a "listen all the way through" album like the blue album ( Only in Dreams is SUCH a good track),...but it is far from sucking (on a hash pipe even).

Quoted from xbloodgreenx:

Oh there are quite a few perfect albums out there. But I'll pick the less traveled here...
Pissed Jeans - Honeys
Behemoth - The Satanist
At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul
The VSS - 21:51
The Jesus Lizard - Goat
Ink & Dagger - Drive This Seven Inch Wooden Stake Through My Philadelphia Heart
Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary
Boris - Pink
Bloodlet - Entheogen
Eucharist - Eucharist LP
Big Business - Here Come the Waterworks
Talking Heads - Little Creatures
Rye Coalition - Hee Saw Dhuh Kaet

Is this Slash ? Methinks it might be.
Whomever you are Dollywood, you've got me a full day of googling/youtubing ahead. Any band called Pissed Jeans I gotta hear.

#180 8 years ago

Bathroom Laughter....ohhhh....Mikey likes.
Good thing Ive got my record store on speed-dial.

Quoted from eraserhead:

DUDE!!!!! Now that's some noise. If you fellas like that - you may find Whitehouse's - birdseed to be as soothing as i do... it sure as hell isn't for everyone though - you've been warned.
Pissed jeans has been ordered.... Thank you for that - truly.

Hey ! A new guy I actually like !
I only listened to that 1st Pissed Jeans track...but any band that reminds me of the Melvins I'm down for.
Your list has quite a few I need to check out as well. Love discovering/hearing new bands....so thanks gents.

Quoted from eraserhead:

it's noisy, and quite possibly the angriest stuff i've ever heard.
try these:
why you never became a dancer, dump the f'n rubbish, wriggle like a f'n eel
if you like them - go deeper. if not - don't waste your time.

Nobody's angrier than Ian Mackaye. He just needs to have a drink and relax.

#191 8 years ago

Wu Tang Clan.....aint nothin to fuck with.
36 Chambers : Goddamn NYC masterpiece.

#194 8 years ago
Quoted from Fixie:

Surprised nobody has put a Rolling Stones album here. It would be hard to find three albums in a row put out by a group better than "Beggars Banquet" , "Let It Bleed" , and "Sticky Fingers".

I am a huge Stones fan Fixie...."Sticky Fingers" and "Let it Bleed" are both perfect. Kinda like forgetting Iron Maiden, there are soo many "front to back" albums, that most of us could be here all day, everyday, and still forget another great one.
Im just glad so many of you dudes seem to love music as much as I do ! My 1st love..always will be !

The loneliest exclamation point in the world.

Quoted from robertmee:

Jock Jams vol I

Thanks for a great morning laugh ! But II is better....

#198 8 years ago

Also forgot :
VADER--Reborn in Chaos
CAT STEVENS--Tea for the Tillerman
HIGH ON FIRE--Death Is This Communion (absolute perfection)

Quoted from littlecammi:

Boston's first LP was a superb album. First offerings are usually better than follow-ups, since the songs on first LPs are the best ones chosen from everything the artists have written up until then. Songs on second albums are either leftovers from their early compositions (that didn't make the cut for the first album)

You're mostly right.
But DANZIG II, Lucifuge, is absolutely an exception to that. As good as his first....some say better. I can't decide, but I listen to II more.
Under her black wings....

Carcass - Heartwork

Didn't think anybody liked that album but me. Nice 1st post. Welcome to Pinside.

#396 8 years ago

Doh ! You're right Phil.
I still like Swansong.
Polarized is a bad ass track....but it's no Heartwork or Descanting the Insalubrious...their masterpiece. Dont know how I always confuse the two.
As long as it's Carcass,...I'll take it....

#398 8 years ago

Margot and the Nuclear So and So's.....
The Dust of Retreat.
Indy shoegaze perfection.
