Anyone know how many made it out the door before the parts holdup?

#109 2 years ago
Quoted from skink91:

Isn’t the first run of pros always just for locations?

No that's relatively new

#159 2 years ago

Holy crap, no clearance there - no wonder it's getting f'd up

#176 2 years ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

this is a scoop… and a narrow one.

Narrow may be the problem here - no room for the ball and a protector without friction coming out

#179 2 years ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

Its not THAT tight. The ball isn’t pinched and has a good 1/4” or so width more the ball’s width. It is the tabs get that beat up that quick!

got it - I'll be able to check one out this week - probably pull the protector if it is the same one.

#181 2 years ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

The first tell is the scoop kickout is inconsistent in where it feeds. That is the ball getting deflected by the protector’s tabs.
Unless you want two-three service calls a day on the same game… pull it

No doubt - it's coming out when it gets unboxed.

#188 2 years ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

Well notice there is no mylar below the scoop either.. where typically you have a tongue of mylar to protect against the ball skidding after an eject.
Right now the no protector is the lesser of evils..

Might be a good idea to put a mylar runway in.

#200 2 years ago

Pallet I have in my garage is 31" x 31"

#213 2 years ago

Hoping to get a incoming notification tomorrow or wed.

fingers crossed.giffingers crossed.gif
#283 2 years ago

got notification - hits the distro today at 5. Problem is we are in the middle of an ice/snow storm so can't go get it.

#304 2 years ago
Quoted from Jamesays:

excuses excuses.mine is not here and im camping at my distros parking lot.

picked it up today - will set up tomorrow.

#332 2 years ago

pulled the protectors out of our pro before playing a game the one on the right from the front scoop was damaged before they even boxed it up!

Picking up my pro today. Op said it wasn't making the cut with earnings so traded it for a TMNT. Has less than 250 plays

It's here - just have to update the code and it's ready - gameroom isn't what it used to be....

Quoted from Jamesays:

I would give up my left something or other to have a nice space that size.Looks good

That's only a quarter of it

#1585 2 years ago
Quoted from konjurer:

You mean like these magnetic apron covers from WizardMods?[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Anybody used any of these yet would love to see how it really looks - dying to cover up the connected bs

#1587 2 years ago
Quoted from smokinhos:

That's not exactly a positive endorsement for Rush. Hopefully the premium fares better...

It will get played here - not worried about how it does on location.

#1657 2 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

I'm not a fan of whole playfield protectors.

agreed plays like a full mylar or hard top, just not the same.

- why not wrap the entire cab in cellophane to prevent finger prints too.

#1763 2 years ago
Quoted from MaxIsDead:

Any word on Premiums shipping yet?

not a peep here

#1789 2 years ago
Quoted from jonboy71:

I'm looking for a solution to my problem here due to a narrow doorway.
Good news: Rush LE arrived today!
Bad news: My doorway is too narrow for the backbox to get thru. With other pinball machines, I've been able to loosen the backbox enough to swivel it and bring it in while being held. However, this machine is presenting a different set of problems.
1. The left bolt connecting it to the left side inside of the machine is not accessible because of the ramp. It appears i will have to remove the ramp from the playfield to get to this bolt in order to take off the backbox.
2. Thought about removing it from the 4 screws on the inside of the backbox, but the bolts on the right side are covered by part of the power supply or something, which would require me to remove it.
3. The right inside bolt broke off so there is no way for me to raise or lower the backbox without scratching the side artwork until I get a replacement bolt.
What's the easiest/best solution here?

Install a 40" door

#1795 2 years ago
Quoted from kool1:

I'm so thankful for my big basement door into the garage every time I move a pin. My basement is built for moving them in and out.

I built this house around my addiction. Walkout basement with a sidewalk to the driveway. 40" door, 1350 sq ft game room with no posts 8' ceilings, 1150 sq ft shop with chain hoist to not kill my back setting up games.

#1804 2 years ago
Quoted from gandamack:

I saw a previous photo of a pinsider picking up his nib LE in the pickup truck. Is it OK to lay them sideways like that when driving it home? I eventually will be picking up a nib from the distributor and wondering if I should simply rent a u-haul with the hydraulic lift.

There is one side that says truck this side or something like that - that is the bottom of the pin - lay that side down

#1814 2 years ago
Quoted from red-line:

We received a rush LE and the lights along the side blades on the right side aren't working. The left side works fine. Any ideas where to start?

wires in the connector?

#1889 2 years ago

By the way.... I have Hobbit as well. Only difference really is that Hobbit has a clear coat on top as it looks much more glossy.

Did this a long time ago on LOTR

I find it interesting too that people complain about cost cutting, but I noticed the pf support rails are back on the pro. First one I've bought in a while so not sure when the added them back in but thank you Stern!

#2367 2 years ago
Quoted from swampfire:

I’m guessing that the Louisville show this weekend will be the first time we see a Rush on free play for 30 solid hours. I’m expecting 700-1000 plays on my Premium, and I’m planning to do all of these things to prevent scoop damage:
1 - use strapping tape to secure the protectors to the bottom of the playfield
2 - mylar under the scoop protectors (and possibly over)
3 - set MB difficulty to Medium
4 - enable the ball lock
5 - lower power to scoop kickouts and lower flippers
I’ve generally had good luck bringing my games to SFGE, with no real damage to 30+ games in 6 years. Hopefully the pingods will be looking out for me.

Leave yours at home - Flip N Out is loading the show with Rush games

#2383 2 years ago
Quoted from Black_Knight:

He's buying one of FNO's show games.

Ah, got it - I'm buying a pro and premium show game.

#2385 2 years ago
Quoted from swampfire:

I’m bringing an SD card with the new 0.90 code - I'll flash another one for your Premium. Can’t wait, less than 2 days!

I won't be there - so just talk to Zach about updating

#2396 2 years ago
Quoted from Photopin:

I'm not really digging this Straight Down the Middle change in the new code.
Not sure what happened but I installed the new code and had a game where I barely got to touch the ball.

Play better!

I reckon the pins at LAX are for being used the fix. Makes me happy - I was planning to go nuts with mylar in that area.

I'm trying to get someone to post a pic of the scoop on the pros at LAX so we can see

#2610 2 years ago

Pro scoops are different at Louisville...

Quoted from hawknole:

Sorry, I am missing it. What is different?

Blue bumpers on each side!

#2619 2 years ago
Quoted from AUKraut:

Someone else had already posted pics about 6 hours ago from Louisville, hence the confusion about your post...

That was a premium just wanted to verify pros had a fix

#2702 2 years ago

I have faith that the talent pool will come up with a great after-market fix. Do I like it - no, but if this holds it together until then I'm fine with it.

#2786 2 years ago
Quoted from swampfire:

FWIW, the LAX show is closing in an hour. I looked at every Rush (I think there are 6), and none of them showed any signs of wear on either scoop. Just a data point.

Very good news - hold the fort until the cliffy reveal!

#2795 2 years ago
Quoted from McIntyre905:

Also is there a way to reset the high scores ? My dad's not very good but I'd like to have him on the scoreboard haha

standard adjustments in the menu starting at 35

#2801 2 years ago

Take a picture of how the forks rest on the ball in the shooter lane

#2823 2 years ago
Quoted from northvibe:

When do us pitiful pro owners get the expression lighting :-p

I've been wondering the same thing - had mine on order since Jan 10th and don't even know how much it costs yet.

#2893 2 years ago
Quoted from PinBalt:

Anyone know if Cliffy fix is incoming soon ?

I asked...
"First Protos are out being tested, should hear early this week"

#2894 2 years ago
Quoted from PinBalt:

So does anyone know if the new Premiums coming out have the LE scoop fix or the new “blue ear muffs” version in the pro?

Ear muffs

#2927 2 years ago
Quoted from Zukram:

Happened here at least once that I noticed, pop bumper by itself eventually freed itself. Wondering if there is a little play in the pop or scoop to move them apart by a hair or more to make the contact / stickiness less possible..

or just shave a bit off the ring in that spot.

#3047 2 years ago

Aniraf i think it is great that you are trying a new approach to solve this problem. I for one would love to try it. It is people like you that continue to amaze me with the talent pool in this community. Thanks for trying to pave the way for us.

#3138 2 years ago

I love stern, but engineering is gotta take their knocks with the blinders.

Just leaked, the moment the protector was dreamed up by the design team...

blinders.gifblinders.gif
#3143 2 years ago
Quoted from John-Floyd:

Exactly one of my points. It’s not the greatest fix.

I don't think that specific thing will be a problem

#3154 2 years ago
Quoted from northvibe:

how much is time and labor to replace since you'll have to take the whole guide out and they use loctite so you have to fiddle with breaking the screws loose without stripping them. changing them is a pita. And this is closer to the flippers in a high shot area. I dont think they meant for the scoop to be walled in....but they are just doing what they can as cheap as they can.

those screws they use are a b!tch to remove as well

#3158 2 years ago
Quoted from swampfire:

Not this time.[quoted image]

glad to hear they made it easily changable.

#3185 2 years ago
Quoted from schudel5:

The inside of my LE cabinet with glue and paint slopped on the bottom. Again, not like it's going to be seen, but just showing the attention to detail Stern has with 5 figure games.
[quoted image]

Hate to break it to you but Stern still doesn't give a damn about collectors - they think the ops rule the market.

#3188 2 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

I'd take that recycled B/W cab wood over what Stern is putting out. Much better quality wood.
The POINT is Stern is cutting past the point of failure in many cases, including wood, where they had to dial it back and include better corner braces because the crappier cheaper, lighter wood was splitting at the seams.

Have you guys tried to buy a straight 2x4 lately? Quality is not a good word for much these days. Hell last wood I bought from lowes I could have wrung out about a quart of water it was so green.

And I'll take a plywood bottom any day over the particle board shit that was used for so long.

#3191 2 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

If you're willing to pay, you can get good wood, even 2x4s and 4x4s.
Buying from big box for wood is the first mistake. You're not getting quality wood there. We just re-did our 20 year-old fence with over 500' of fenceline and the wood was fine. We had a few rejects of 2x4 supports and 6x10x1 inch planks, but overall it was very good. We paid a little more with a local business, but the quality was much higher that what you'd find at a Lowes or Home Depot. Buying cheaper wood is absolutely cost-cutting.

Agree, but they don't make the cabs - their QA would have to reject something and send it back. And like I said, they are not catering to collectors - just ops

#3268 2 years ago
Quoted from Av8:

This Rush playfield protector is a must have imo. No need to remove time machine. The only mistake I made was putting the protector under the factory scoop protectors. It caused binding. It goes on top of the protectors. I removed the fork as its not needed. Put some hard as nails nail polish on inside of scoops and VUK area.
Took me a full day to do it. It plays amazing now!
I made a video I need to post.

Plays like a full mylar I hate them

616X9S-goKL._AC_SL1200_ (resized).jpg616X9S-goKL._AC_SL1200_ (resized).jpg
#3272 2 years ago
Quoted from swampfire:

I’ve never noticed a full mylar playing any different. Biggest mistake of my pinball career was pulling the mylar from a NOS Space Station playfield. I should have left it alone!

Ball doesn't act the same as on wood, tough to explain, it slips or something. Game with hardtop

#3273 2 years ago
Quoted from Av8:

You obviously haven't played a new stern with one on it. How can you choose a beat up dimpled pf over a shiny smooth one? I have played GZ, AIQ and now RUSH and they all play superior.

I've had people have me remove them because they hate them. I'm not into playing on a plastic pf

#3293 2 years ago
Quoted from swampfire:

I think I see the problem Boslaw. On my game, the right outlane switch wires are black/orange on the top lug, and blue/green on the middle lug. My inlane switch has black/orange on top and green/yellow on the middle.[quoted image]

Check out that heat shrink - I don't think it was ever heated...

#3338 2 years ago
Quoted from Av8:

Exactly. New Stern playfield need time to cure. The protector will save it. Rush is fast and there are fair amount of air balls in Rush.
Watch my videos about the install.

Had to laugh when I read this... maybe you can saran wrap the cab while the decal glue dries too.

#3344 2 years ago
Quoted from Av8:

Wax is fine. Its a good idea.
I bought and sold over 40 pins and many NIB sterns. I joined pinside when it first started. Stern playfields are the softest. Especially when new. I saw an Stern Elvira first run that looked beat to death after a few months. Like a golf ball. Why? Its the wood they use and the short cure/dry times. Some games are better than others.

The problem is the formula for the clear changed due to environmental stuff and the softer wood. Ball vs wood - wood always looses. If you think you need to let your game cure talk to an auto painter, do they cure cars for weeks?

#3353 2 years ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

Only part of the problem. Short cure times and poor catalyst choices by Stern/Mirco contribute to the problem. Bader seems to have it mostly figured out for Spooky/American (except for one run of TNA). Also, the specialists like Ron Kruzman and HEP churn out consistently good-looking, durable playfields. So it's not just a clear issue and it's also not "there's nothing to be done to fix it."

I've had hep pfs in my games, if you think they don't dimple they do. Not as bad as new pfs, but they were wpc games with older pfs. Kruzman swears his clear doesn't dimple but my auto clear guy uses the same exact product and it does dimple. He's been doing it for a living for over 20 years. I asked hep how long I should let his of cure he told me no waiting required to cure. Not sure what is going on but it isn't just stern.

#3354 2 years ago
Quoted from Av8:

The wood needs to cure/dry. Not the paint. Obviously wood loses. Post something useful instead of trolling. Do you have a Rush? What your experience?
Im having an issue with the clock. Powers up but the hand doesn't move. Doesn't move in test. No tech alerts.

That is an interesting theory, wade Krause makes his own ply to use in pfs he says the stuff available doesn't cut it, so you could be on to something

As far as my experience, look it up. Do I have a rush? Yes 2 right now

#3413 2 years ago
Quoted from Gryszzz:

All these Pinwoofer accolades might finally get me to hop that fence. Mostly interested in the amp ""booster?"

Man, that shit was CRAZY! I have 2 machines and a sub running into a surge protector. The other outlets were still on and running, so it took me awhile to pinpoint. Never had just one outlet in a surge protector go out. By that time I was overserved and not too handy lol.
But, my USB I was able to put in both ways, that CANT be right. No update. Think i might've blown up the USB port in bb....
Haven't looked today yet, was gonna get on a stool to see better

Make sure it is one of these ports (there may only be one empty one) - should go in only one way.

Quoted from John1210:

I have ordered a rush pro, but am considering upgrading to a premium. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to play a premium.
Anyone who has played both I'd love to hear you opinion. Cheers

For me the biggest upgrade on the premium was the dead end shot on the pro is now a vuk. Just seemed like something was missing and very unsatisfying. Trivial as it was - that's why I sold the pro to go premium.

#6053 1 year ago
Quoted from Jgaltr56:

Tron is fast, simple, but addictive. Rush is all that and a bit more cerebral if you want it to be. I think the rules are amazing so far.

I'd love to get another tron pro, but at the prices they go for I'll take a rush le all day long

#6058 1 year ago

We're now including washers with the new version.

for those that bought the original and don't have it installed - can we get a washer?

#6109 1 year ago

#6114 1 year ago
Quoted from JToeps:

Quoted from Gryszzz:

The most gorgeous cab you've ever seen

No doubt - blows the generic premium out of the water.

#6119 1 year ago
Quoted from SterlingRush:

Depends on what you want, money saved can be spent on the protection and upgrades. Buying the LE you’d get a lot, but still have to put additional funds in it. The art is nice no question, is it what you want though?
Talking NIB LE, or one that’s already been played?

Either is fine, but the NIB I'm looking at is the better deal

11
#6237 1 year ago

Think I finally struck a deal for an LE - just cancelled my premium preorder.

#6291 1 year ago

Confirmed LE on the way, so what is the must have list - already have the ninja scoop protector, but what else is essential to get like the reed switch, upkicker protector, speaker upgrades? Not really interested in bling, just stuff that makes the game better. Appreciate the help.

Also, do all the le's need the scoop switch replaced?

#6298 1 year ago
Quoted from SterlingRush:

Color Mode mod and instrument mod for the inserts, from Pinmonk, just seems to make those inserts better. There’s a lot of items being offered for the machine, look at all of it and decide what suits your needs/desires.

Yep, thanks for the reminder was going to order the color inserts. Already ordered the rest of ninja's stuff

What is the consensus on ferrite beads for node 10 - is Stern providing a kit or do I have to buy them?

#6351 1 year ago
Quoted from Fezmid:

I've had two balls stuck up there a couple of times. It has always eventually freed itself with one ball rolling back and the other ejecting into the ramp.
It seems to me that whole shot is... not ideal... and nobody at Stern realized this during development? The rejects are horrible, and two getting stuck there isn't rare... interesting concept that just doesn't work well unfortunately.

Same problem whitewater has - if two go in the vuk, shut the game off and try to get the balls out.

Anyone else having trouble with RGB LED's failing? The arrow insert to the upper scoop LED12 on Node Board 9a Blue and Red no longer light. I had the same thing happen on GZ, except it was just red that failed. I will get it replaced under warranty. VERY concerned about the failure rate after they stop replacing them under warranty.

If they are singles, not a problem - a lamp board will need someone who can do surface mount soldering.

The first thing I’d do is remove the plastic playfield protector that I installed 2 weeks in. It’s great, it does its job well, but I’d prefer not to have it. I have 2 other playfield swaps in the pipeline: Skateball and Quick Draw. I think I’m going to start QD this weekend. If the new Rush playfield shows up before I’m done, I’ll probably tackle Rush next, just knowing it will be easier than Skateball.
I’d also be tempted to add a few more coats of clear to the new playfield.

I usually clear pfs again before installing. Only had one problem and that was on a pf that Wade did and used some weird lacquer on it so the clear didn't lay down. Probably done about 50+ pf swaps at this point.

Quoted from swampfire:

The question is, why did Stern stop making good quality playfields? We know it can be done - my last 14 Sterns were fine, except maybe for TWD which I bought used. My theory is that us individual collectors complained too much about pooling and chipping in past years, and Stern realized they could solve the problem by using a much softer and thinner clearcoat. As a bonus, these games won’t be on location in 5 years, competing with newer Sterns. They’ll be too blown out to earn. None of that bothers me. What bothers me is that there are some very good Stern playfields, and some very bad, for the same title. It’s the NIB playfield lottery that bothers me. Until there’s some consistency, I’m going back to buying used (or CGC).
The real shame of this is that Stern are making their best pins ever. Lots of 3-flipper games with unique and improved mechanisms. It just seems crazy to ignore the most important part of the game (for us collectors).

I think the reality is that Stern doesn't make the pfs - they are just an assembly line - everybody else makes the parts. If you don't hold your vendors to a high standard of quality for the price they need - they won't get it.
