Quoted from flynnibus:

Yup.. happens within a day or two here with 3 of the 4 rushes onsite. Don't know why the inside tabs are moving so much... but immediate solution is just to remove Stern's poor protector. It's not holding up AT ALL.

This is a bummer. My Mando is 700 plays in and the scoop protector on it still looks great.

Contact ZMeny at flip n out. He usually has most banners at competitive prices. That is where all mine come from.

Unfortunately I'm on my own today so no help with getting legs on etc so might be staying in the box for a bit

For the love of God, someone in Indiana get over there to help!

Quoted from bouche03:

Apologize in advance for the poor cinematography

We are all so excited to see one in the wild. I don’t think anyone will care, lol. Thanks for posting!

#763 2 years ago
Quoted from NightTrain:

This is my goodie bag. Anyone else get shafted?! Lol!
[quoted image]

Bummer man. Why even include one at that point? In the good old days they were packed. My Star Trek LE is loaded with goodies.

#967 2 years ago
Quoted from Craiger:

Soooooo…I gotta ask because I haven’t followed any other release threads as closely as this one. From a rough tally Of the 5 or so LEs delivered to the good folk that are posting on here we have:
Two machines with mis-mounted legs,
a spinner falling off,
multiple reports of regular crashing.
And this aside from the scoop related issues.
Given the sample number, these seem like statistically significant occurrences.
Is every Stern release this riddled with issues? This LE will be my first NIB and I’ll admit, the reports so far are damaging my calm.

Mando had issues with encounter ramp breaking (Cliffy to the rescue) as well as diverter welds breaking. You just take the issues as they come. If the manufacturer doesn’t address them the community will.

Maybe today…

Quoted from insight75:

If they didn't call for appointment, it likely won't happen. Ask me how I know. They just called and told me Monday. I said, "Great, when can I pick it up?". They are calling Stern now for approval. They must hate pinball guys. We are like kids on Christmas morning.
Edit: Haha...I just saw the post above about Christmas eve.....great minds think alike!

Haha. Yeah this is going to the terminal. I always pick up myself at the terminal to save the extra cost of it coming to the house.

#1282 2 years ago

At this time I think listing to $12.5k is probably the highest to break even depending if you had to pay taxes and shipping. $11.1k + $900 tax ~8% + $500 shipping on the high end. Folks listing higher than that are seeking bonus IMO.

#1292 2 years ago

It looks like the area well out in front of the scoop through the arrow is wearing badly or is that just a camera artifact?

#1294 2 years ago

#1297 2 years ago
Quoted from Multiballmaniac1:

Does this justify a new playfield? Lmao

Maybe? Seems like the scoop exits should have had Mylar.

#1318 2 years ago
Quoted from Jcanuck72:

This may be naive of me to say, but why don't we as a pinball/Rush community "Resist" buying LE's from flippers that are clearly not fans looking to make a fast (and unreasonable return). If I'm not mistaken this is the first time Stern has built 1000 LE's -- there are already a ton on the market and most haven't even been delivered yet!
In this case supply of LE's may well exceed demand. I think it would be fitting if flippers were made to sit on there NIB machines due to a lack of buyers and then have to sell at a loss!

They also made 1000 GZ LEs. Those are going much higher right now.

BackAlleyMatt Sent me two different lockdown button and flipper styles for Rush! These are made of resin and hand painted. Can’t wait to get them on my LE when it gets here this week. Will post more pics on the machine once it arrives. These are absolutely beautiful in person.

Anyone have damage on the sides like this on their machine? I can't unsee them now and just stare at them...
Also had the back bracket issue on the back right bottom leg bolt. Fixed it by trying different angles and it finally went in. Also, a small chip in the wood in the back, but backbox covers it up.
Little stuff? Maybe. I'm grateful to have one and am thankful, and I try to not let it bother me, but this much money on something, I guess, just makes me a cringe a little.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

In that last pic you are about to lose the middle screw on the expression lighting insert. I would take care of that so it doesn’t go flying around the playfield.

Edit…or is that an illusion with the art…

Anybody seen an issue where the reader is lit but won’t attempt to scan? I reset the cable on the node board but may also have to pop the apron to reseat it on the reader. This is on my Rush LE. Was working and just stopped. Can’t figure out why.

#1892 2 years ago
Quoted from Lateralus:

Make sure your brightness is up on your phone. Sometimes, turn it way up.

Yeah thought about that. But it scans just fine on my other IC games.

#2093 2 years ago
Quoted from manadams:

I'm on .89 and haven't had this issue, only played about 15-20 games so far though.

I am on 0.89 and yesterday display froze and it all locked up. I wish I would have noted which MB was running. I just power cycled and got back to fun!

#2094 2 years ago
Quoted from mbrave77:

My last 3 games came without them. Stern buttons now. Godzilla mando and now rush.

My December run Beatles and B66 also had the stern coin rejects. So I agree. Likely a full cutover. Whether driven by cost or supply chain I don’t know.

Favorite song light show so far? Mine right now is One Little Victory. The sound and lights on that one really work for me. Interested to hear which ones others think they nailed.

#2191 2 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

They're all really cool...I find myself digging Big Money...something about that neon pink light show just screams mid-80's...very appropriate for Big Money. There's one that goes full rainbow at one point, but I forget which one that is offhand. Fly By Night, maybe?

Nice. I will go back and give Big Money a closer look.

Quoted from insight75:

Download so slow. What is Stern still on dial up for internet?

Yeah man. It is terrible.

#2393 2 years ago
Quoted from jid:

It isn’t -that- bad. I’m sure that when we all start to download at the same time (which we do) it is line a giant DOS attack on them. 40 min isn’t unreasonable. 2 hours would be too much. 5-7 minutes would be bad-ass. But it is soooo much better than burning ROMs!

For me it was at 5% after about 30 minutes. Game is close to wifi router. All other devices speed test plenty fast. Just usb updated. No big deal. Glad it is speedy for the rest of you.

#2441 2 years ago
Quoted from dgposter:

Yes! Same problem on my Godzilla LE, so it looks like it started before Rush. I was wondering if my buttons were defective as well.

My Mando LE buttons are a hot mess as well, but Rush LE is perfect. Probably just poor QC from the supplier Stern uses.

#2534 2 years ago

Is "Extra Ball" not working on the upper scoop a known bug? In my RUSH temp test the other day, I hit the lit extra ball scoop a number of times and it did not collect. The behind the upper right flipper one worked, just the one for the scoop didn't seem to.

That is super weird. Mine always rewards the extra ball so far. Watch I will play tonight and it won’t give it to me, lol.

Just installed the PinWoofer DIY amp upgrade on Rush LE. We all know spike 2 is underpowered. This kicks it up a notch while still utilizing the upgrade Stern LE speakers. It sounds wonderful. So much more bass when you can properly drive the speaker in the cabinet. Also a very clean and well integrated plug and play install. As an electrical engineer myself I appreciate the design and ease of use. It was just what I was looking for just a little extra kick while utilizing the already upgraded stock LE speakers.

#3420 2 years ago
Quoted from mstang01:

I’m wondering how pinwoofer compares to using pinSub cards and a mixer to connect all your machines to a home amp/speakers…. Has anyone tried both?

I have not tried both, but I am very happy with the pinwoofer setup.

#3495 2 years ago
Quoted from manadams:

At the 20:24 mark, JD shoots the time machine and it shoots the ball back at him. His machine shot it more towards his right flipper so maybe it's a pitch or leveling issue with mine
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1420737689

Yeah I have never had it throw it down the middle. I play quite a bit and have had a lot thrown back at me and never felt in danger. I am interested to hear what you find in case mine does start to hate me.

Is Stern working on a Topper for Rush?

Yes. Borg confirmed it on a podcast and hinted it was going to be pretty special.

#3540 2 years ago
Quoted from kool1:

I want to come to your arcade

Yes confirmed but who knows when though ... still no Godzilla topper.

Hell, no Mando topper either.

#3705 2 years ago

DJ mixer is a thing now but the EL shows don’t match the shows in actual gameplay. In gameplay the light shows are way better and synced. In DJ mixer it is a generic light show and doesn’t change at all based in song. LZ EL shows are the same in game and DJ mixer.

#3707 2 years ago
Quoted from onemilemore:

Time Machines also 2-ball? Hoping not - definitely prefer a mix.

Been playing .91 and mystery award is generous with add a ball. So you get to 3 ball pretty quick.

#3713 2 years ago
Quoted from TinyBlackDog:

This is true - but it was just as easy to get to 4 before.
For those that want the old .90 defaults you can select the “Home Install”.

Good point. Where do you select home install? Is that done at install time or can it be done after?

Finally getting my Premium on Thursday. Wondering whether I should do a shaker or not?
Is a shaker a must have or meh on Rush?

Very well integrated. Really adds a lot.

#4572 2 years ago
Quoted from schudel5:

Here's my solution to the switch not activating on that tight loop shot. The switch actuated on fast shots, it's just that the ball lifts up going around the tight bend missing the actuator.
I made a cover around the loop using clear PETG I have for making plastics. It's only held on by the 2 nuts on the outside loop plastic. It's cantilevered over the loop to give a little bit of flex.
So far on 5 or 6 games the ball has registered every shot around that loop. So another approach to getting the switch to register the shot.
Now to get the bottom side scoop switch to register reliability and eliminate both ball traps on the moving ramp...
[quoted image]

This is clever. I like it.

#4581 2 years ago
Quoted from schudel5:

Just a quick one I did by hand. Let me scan it in and clean it up tomorrow. There's a little notch I want to add to go around the VUK wireform.

I would buy this.

#4631 2 years ago
Quoted from swampfire:

I hate to interrupt the scoopfest, but…
Damn this is such a fine game! I’ve always been a big John Borg fan, but this layout has rocketed to #1 in my Borg collection (MET, AS, TWD, Rush). I’m gonna say it…it’s better than Godzilla. Music is better than any rock pin Stern has ever made (I may be biased). The FLOW, my god it’s so good. It has me looking side-eye at Aerosmith, which I still love. Seems like the right ramp and the shot through the pops are just a bit easier on Rush? And I can reliably hold up the upper flipper to make the upper scoop, so satisfying. There’s not a single shot on this game that makes me mad.
I’m going to put in my reviews of Pro, Premium and LE now. This game deserves to live in the top ten for a long damned time!

Nevus and I talked to Borg at TPF and personally thanked him for such a great game.

#4636 2 years ago
Quoted from swampfire:

I had the privilege of thanking Lyman for Metallica when it first came out (before the Crank It Up modes, even!). We were in the same hotel for PAPA. I kept it short, and I know by his smile that it made him happy to hear that.

That is so awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Quoted from ian866:

Why would they still attempt to deliver it ? Any reasonable carrier would contact the company and the client and return it back to the manufacturer.
All this does is embarrass both parties and create friction.

FedEx has dumb policies. A few weeks back I had a NIB pin show up with a fork through the cabinet. The driver arrived and told me it was damaged and he already filled out the refusal paperwork on his side because he knew any sane customer would refuse it. He said FedEx makes him attempt to deliver so I the customer can see it and refuse it in person. We both agreed this is dumb and a waste of time and fuel. Ultimately he was just doing what FedEx policy mandated.

#6016 1 year ago
Quoted from Chetrico:

Great advice. My scores on other machines improve a ton after playing The Beatles for a few hours. It has simple rules and a few great shots along with nasty outlanes to hone in your skills.

Yes! Absolutely this. I noticed the same thing. I would play Beatles exclusively for hours and sometimes only play it for a few days in a row. When I switch back to other machines I do better. Coincidence, maybe? Interesting to know someone else has had a similar experience.

Got my nib rush premium. It doesn't have a goodie bag like my other machines.
Does yours have a goodie bag? Does stern pick and choose which games have them?

My LE didn’t come with a goodie bag. General consensus is that they didn’t do them for any of the Rush games.

The side scoop stopped kicking the ball out. Coil fired but didn’t kick the ball. Dug into it. The nylon tip on the plunger tip snapped off. Found it in the bottom of the cabinet. New one coming from Stern.

Quoted from Paddy-o:

Just had the same issue. Reported to Stern, and hoping to get it replaced. That part is backordered everywhere!

Yeah I was just going to buy one and move on, but like you said, back ordered everywhere. Hopefully they stock them at the moment. Game is playable but it gets old waiting for it to try and fail to eject it and then route it to the front scoop to finally eject it out.

#11161 1 year ago
Quoted from Big_Whoopin:

Can you disable the side scoop kick-out in settings? Would save you from waiting for the ball search.

Good question! I haven’t looked. I will have to check.

#11172 1 year ago
Quoted from Paddy-o:

I ordered two from Cointaker, and they sent me an email saying it was backordered. So that's a no-go as well.

Yep. Nowhere to be found. That is why I went direct to Stern. They accepted my request and it is now being processed. Stern was really fast in approving a replacement.

#11231 1 year ago
Quoted from pinballjah:

Is there anything we can do to prevent the node 10 board from having issues? Thanks.

Make sure connections are all good. I also cut the zip ties for the ramp stepper motor because the zip tie is so tight it was cutting into the insulation. I then put some electrical tape around each wire where the zip tie was and then zip tied the bunch back together but not near as tight. Do the same for the clock if you find any tight and pinching zip ties. The electrical engineer in me says a lot of these issues are because of these wiring harnesses with such tiny wires and insulation and then being over stressed by zip ties that are way too tight.

#11233 1 year ago
Quoted from Photopin:

You probably want to also inspect rub points with the wires along the ramps. The insulation is incredibly thin on the wiring and wears away quickly. Make sure the movement of the ramp has not stripped away the insulation.

Yes for sure. Good point.

#11319 1 year ago
Quoted from JMK:

Vino: Was it easy to peel off that Stern connected sticker above the right speaker or did you have to use any product (like goo gone) to remove? Thanks!

All of the ones I have had peeled off easily and cleanly. Then I immediately threw them away! I didn’t see the point in preserving it by covering it up. If somebody won’t buy my game because it is missing that sticker I probably didn’t want to sell to them. Also it isn’t game specific so it’s not like Stern will run out. They would probably send me a bunch of them if I ever wanted one.

I'm a RUSH fan for over 40 years and Pinball player for over 50, and at $199 I'd been in. $499???? LMAO!!!!!

I agree at $199 they would likely sell out today.

Quoted from SkyKing2301:

I still think the LEs should have come with their autographs on the apron already. They had the guys in the studio for how long working on this? No reason they couldn't have had the apron decals pass through there for autographs. For the price (and limited nature) of the LEs, it really would've been a nice touch.

My Primus has apron decal signatures from the band and it is a great touch.

Good morning. I reported awhile back that the nylon tip on the plunger for the right scoop snapped off. Currently Stern, Pinball Life, and Marco do not have this in stock. Currently I have to wait for ball search every time which basically makes the game not fun to play. Theguyoverthere could we get a software adjustment option to completely disable the upper right scoop so it behaves like the pro and always routes to the front scoop for eject? That would be amazing! Thanks.

Quoted from DiabloRush:

There's plenty of plunger assemblies available from these sources (search "plunger assembly" to see a long list). Just buy one with a longer nylon attachment and cut to length. I keep a few of these as spares in my parts bin.

Ahh. Good point.

Don't trust that. 02 cent level, buy a digital level. Most phone apps aren't worth a sh#t either. Amazon one i bought has a tonal feature so you can level side to side without coming out from under machine.

Link please?

Quoted from pinballjah:

I heard from a dealer that Stern will NOT be making any expression lighting side blades for the Premiums/Pros as parts are no longer available. So getting the LZ kit may be a good idea before they are sold out completely. Not sure if the LZ kits were made in advance for any new LZ premiums coming off the line.

That stinks. They really up the fun and game immersion.

Quoted from Evets:

Yes, just having some lighthearted fun. I don't have a horse in this race (yet), but I have played and enjoyed pro and premium in the wild on several occasions. I'll probably wind up with the pro, but that's more of a financial decision than anything else.

I own the LE. The only thing I missed when playing the pro was expression lighting.

Excited to be joining the club picking up a Rush Pro next weekend. When the game was announced I was less than excited. Always been a Rush fan Permanent Waves being one on my favorite albums bought it when it came out. Actually wanted to buy James Bond when it came out but every time I played it, it just did not feel good still doesn’t. So instead of playing Bond on location started playing Rush and started going to locations just to play Rush. Started to reconnect with Rush music a fan mainly of the 80’s stuff but boy Far Cry what a great song! Had to finally pull the trigger to have it at home. I am not a big Mod person but would like to know what are some mods are must haves. I like mods that either make playing better or game experience better. Don’t like mods that are just static and don’t make gameplay or experience better.

If you only do one thing do the pinwoofer kit. It will transform the game. Second after that for me would be expression lighting. Lastly a shaker as it is well integrated into the game.

Quoted from Bill2112Rush:

I just received and added the side armor to my Premium. Install was pretty straight forward: two wood screws and two bolts (7/16) on each side. But there was one hitch: removing the two top blots. I couldn’t get them out or back in unless the backbox was folded down.

Maybe the holes on mine were drilled slightly off at the factory. (I hadn’t folded the backbox down since assembly. Just remove the two 5/8 bolts from the back—no need to unlock the back glass).
In total, it was about a 15 minute job.

Now, a question for you guys with more experience: is there a demand or use for the old rails? What are they worth?

I have had to slightly fold the head when replacing rails to get that one out on all modern sterns. They just like fucking with us. Keep the rails in case you want to swap back. Also I have built up a spare set of metal for spike machines so I can have them powdered without pulling the current ones of the game. Then just do the swap and still have an extra set.

I didn't realize that bob worked on the sound for rush. that's kind of cool considering that we've been friends for the past 20+ years

He also did LZ and the new FF. Here is a good interview with him last year talking about his work on LZ and Rush.
