Oh man that is tough, Victoria to Indiana! That is like going from Malibu to Detroit.

Question: If got in the line today to order a Premium, do you think it would come with the scoop fix (being there is actually one at Stern)? I am guessing if I ordered one now, the machine probably has not been assembled at this point due to supply chain issues. I would think Stern would have a Monday morning meeting and order no more shipping of machines until the issue is resolved.

#1598 2 years ago

Nice looking pin! I see you got it next to a maiden pin. Do you like the maiden pin? The reason I ask is that I am torn between getting an Iron Maiden or Rush pin. If I decide on the maiden pin then I could get it a whole lot sooner than waiting for a Rush pin. Also, after I read all these posts on the Rush scoop issue and durability of the Rush playfield I am a little hesitant. I like both bands music....what is your honest opinion...what would you do? This will be my first pin. Thank you.

Quoted from Rushlarz2112:

The game is absolutely incredible from the artwork to the shots and layout...I'm a first time NIB owner and this was a special night with my best friend after a long days drive. Rush is the GOAT!!! Jam that Jam!

#1628 2 years ago

So when this final scoop fix is installed, do we box up the current LE and send the whole machine back to Stern? What a headache.

#1629 2 years ago

Does Stern plan to address the sound issues with this particular machine? Seriously, was the Quality Control team on vacation when they put this pin out?

#1632 2 years ago
Quoted from Hayfarmer:

It's not difficult to do, sure, we shouldn't have to, but previous removals of scoops is really 15-20 minute job

So, you think they will send us some type of DIY scoop kit?

#1633 2 years ago
Quoted from Craziestsinge:

ry disabling the sound "Filter" in settings. I'm sorry I don't remember off hand what the name of the filter is. Once the filter is disabled, the music and SFX seem to come through louder and clearer.

Roger that.

What is your opinion on this: if I put in an order with a distributor for a Premium today or the next few days, would I have a 100 percent chance of getting a pin with the new scoop design (fix)? It is my understanding that the Premium models are the last in line to be assembled and shipped to distributors, but maybe I am mistaken.
Thx

#1801 2 years ago

I saw a previous photo of a pinsider picking up his nib LE in the pickup truck. Is it OK to lay them sideways like that when driving it home? I eventually will be picking up a nib from the distributor and wondering if I should simply rent a u-haul with the hydraulic lift.

#1807 2 years ago
Quoted from MaxIsDead:

Yes, as long as the bottom of the game is pointing down. The box is labeled. 3 Sides say DO NOT truck from the side. One says truck from this side. That side is the bottom of the game.

Got it thanks

#1822 2 years ago

Anybody installed that mod that resembles the Signals album cover? There was a post awhile back of it being installed.

#1854 2 years ago

Do you know if it has a permanent scoop fix or are they shipping premiums with the same issue as the Pro and LE. It may be worth waiting until a fresher batch of premiums is made.

#1879 2 years ago

Can someone please post a "do this before your first play" list? For example:
1. Set flipper power to .....
2. Adjust audio to ......
etc, etc.

It would be really helpful to have in a single post so I can take a screenshot.
Really appreciate it!

#1897 2 years ago
Quoted from indypinhead:

I'm hoping to buy the Pro translite to install on my premium. Are the translites already available for purchase?

Uh....You can get the Pro translite on a Pro model.

#1899 2 years ago

When did your distributor say to expect delivery of your premium? When did you order? I am trying to figure out when I can expect mine. Thx

#1978 2 years ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

Rush premium is in da house!

Congrats. Keep us posted with any scoop issues. It is important to know if this batch of Prems have a modified scoop.

#1979 2 years ago

Actually looks like the same scoop as the LEs. Hard to see though.

#1980 2 years ago

Congrats on being one of the first to get a Prem. I just wish Stern would wait to ship the Prems until a final fix is implemented.

#1983 2 years ago
Quoted from Guinnesstime:

Ball hang up location found

Is your Rush Hemispheres ramp mounted crooked? Or is that the way it has to be mounded due to ball trajectory?

#2072 2 years ago

On the brightside: 1. The issues with the quality of this particular release will hopefully drive the cost down to those out there flipping.
2. Serves as a wakeup call to Stern's engineers and QA.

#2337 2 years ago
Quoted from CrashJT:

My Premium has arrived!!! Build date of April!!! Yee Haw!!!!

Your distributor gave you a build date of April and it arrived in March? Did you know it was coming that quick or did it just arrive out of the blue? Open it up...maybe you got an LE by mistake, lol.

#2340 2 years ago

Christ man...is there anything one can do that does not void a Stern warranty? Seems like Stern has more lawyers writing void clauses than engineers designing functioning components.

#2343 2 years ago

OK, I calmed down, lol. I guess the combination of high NIB (the new normal) priced machines with certain component issues raised my temperature. I guess that I just have to accept that it is a pinball machine with many working parts and nothing is going to function 100 percent of the time.

#2482 2 years ago
Quoted from indypinhead:

Hearing all of these details make me want my premium more & more.

Me too. So, apparently they are cranking out the Prems now?

#2572 2 years ago
Quoted from snaroff:

Surprising that licensee/Rush doesn't insist on better audio. If the promo video is accurate, they were involved and you'd think would have some say.

You hear that Geddy and Alex! It is all your fault!

#2600 2 years ago
Quoted from bouche03:

Here’s another pic...I am really interested to see if anything was done for the side scoop?

I'll take it, ugly or not. Seems they could have at least made the scoop protection a themed mod. I could totally see rounding out the 90 degree edges and makine it look like a pair of wheels. Whoo-lah, you now have "between the wheels."

Quoted from faceforward_007:

Also thanks to Michael Barnard for the amazing artwork, you killed it man, fantastic job!

.....and a special thanks to Ms. Johnson's 4th grade class for the amazing scoop protection fix and a big shout out to Maple Park Elementary's A/V club for designing the amazing sound system.

#2692 2 years ago
Quoted from faceforward_007:

Keep on trolling brother!

Nah man, my attempt at humor (humour: Canadian spelling) was not a jab at you. Trust me I have a machine too and I am a big Rush fan. Just couldn't resist. Seriously, you are correct in saying that it is a beautiful machine. Trust me, I upvoted your post.

#2709 2 years ago
Quoted from J-drum11:

also put a 10 inch strip in my shooter lane And smooth it down with the pressure from a pinball

Next time you do this, could you possibly make a video? Would really appreciate it! I think I will do it regardless of "upsetting Stern". They upset me first.

#2775 2 years ago
Quoted from swampfire:

I feel bad for the engineer(s) at Stern reading this thread.

Really? I do appreciate the point that you make in saying folks posting need to come up with solutions rather than beating up the engineers; however with that said the engineers at Stern are professionally paid employees assigned with the task of producing a sound product. If that does not materialize then I do feel people have the absolute right to air their frustrations.

#2929 2 years ago

To all the owners of multiple Stern machines:
In your honest assessment, does Rush have more or the same amount of issues when compared to other Stern nib machines?

#2931 2 years ago
Quoted from gandamack:

In your honest assessment, does Rush have more or the same amount of issues when compared to other Stern nib machines?

Just wondering if this title is the Pontiac Aztek of Stern machines?

#2950 2 years ago
Quoted from joetechbob:

Mines been solid. Elvira and STh by far the worst I've had from Stern.

Appreciate the feedback. Sorry to use a Pontiac Aztek as a comparison. I meant in terms of reliability, not how the machine looks. I think the LE is a work of art. The Premium and Pro, not as beautiful as the LE. The band members portraits on the playfield seem cheap which is weird because some of the other artwork is quite intricate.

#2976 2 years ago
Quoted from Aniraf:

We will be selling this solution in two versions

Why not license this to Stern and take a percentage of every unit installed on Rush and future titles? Then you would sell a protector for every single unit rather than waiting for some pinhead to contact you. Anyhow, your product looks fantastic.

In general, the fact that the Expression Lighting is in sync with the music -- and is unique to every song -- is what takes it to the next level

I am possibly interested in getting the EL kit when it is on the market, even though I think it should have come with the Premium to begin with. Oh well.
Is the EL working fairly well on the LE games? Any bugs? It would be cool to see the lights sync with the tunes.

#3741 1 year ago

Hopefully, I have a premium arriving in May or June. Question: if you could go back in time and do something protection-wise before your first play, would you? I mean would you replace the scoops with Ninja and lay mylar in the scoop area? I read through what to do with the game settings, but my concern is doing some type of preventative work before I let the ball fly. Am I being over-cautious or should I just play and do the eventual repairs as they come? If I do some type of preventative repair before playing, what exactly do you recommend?
Thank you

#3781 1 year ago
Quoted from insight75:

Yes, I would definitely protect before the first flip if possible and always turn down the coil power for the ball load to shooter lane. Cliffy or Ninja for sure although you may get the rubber sandwich fix on your premium.

Thank you for the information. I would guess that my Prem will arrive with the blue sandwich. Would the only reason to put in a Cliffy or Ninja then be for aesthetic purposes or is it (will be) superior in protection? Also, is the laying mylar in the area of the scoop necessary? I read somewhere in these forums that laying mylar is generally something only done on older games and the newer Stern playfields are already well protected??

#3814 1 year ago
Quoted from epeabs:

2nd gen scoop forks which I mylared prior to first ball.

Was there zero mylar there before? Or did you put mylar on more mylar? I am trying to figure out what to do once mine comes home.
Thanks

#3834 1 year ago
Quoted from CrashJT:

My Premium built 3/4/22 had rev 2 scoop.

Which revision, 2 or 3, is the blue thing(s)?

#3837 1 year ago
Quoted from epeabs:

2nd gen scoop forks which I mylared prior to first ball.

Thank you for the beautiful photos of your new Premium. I see you put down appx three mylar strips near the scoop. It looks like the mylar goes over the wood and the metal fork in one strip? I guess my question is why to put mylar over the metal fork? Is that the normal way to lay this stuff down? Sorry, if my question is beyond basic, but I am trying to figure all this stuff out. Thx.

#3851 1 year ago
Quoted from CrashJT:

do have mylar. Maybe will do what epeabs did... Thoughts?

I would vote for removing the scoop and then laying mylar. Unfortunately, I would then wait for a ninja scoop and install it. The tough part is gonna be the wait for the protector and not playing until it arrives and you install it.

#3858 1 year ago
Quoted from jonboy71:

Playing devils advocate here, but if Stern felt there would be long term damage with their alternate solution in place, don't you think they would have either halted production or issued a service bulletin to not play the game until there is a proper fix? I understand not wanting to cause further damage, but asking someone to sit on their new machine and not play it until a 3rd party solution is available seems like overkill to me and a potential legal disaster for Stern

Do as you wish. Just sayin' that Stern's fixes have not been exactly stellar.

I used to think like that as well. But, I ventured out of my Rush comfort zone and discovered some real gems. The song, Ceiling Unlimited, from Vapor Trails is really good and to be honeset I consider Clockwork Angels to be one of the band's top three albums.

OK, man you are officially creeping me out now, lol.

Quoted from gsrogers:

I want to thank Geddy, Alex, and Neil (in spirit) for where Rush pin is and will become. It is my belief that they advised Stern early on what they expected in a pin with their name on it more than any other band. I bet they were VERY involved with the development and final approval of almost every aspect. Their commitment to team work and honoring the "Rush brand" is what delivered us a great pin. Well this is me belief for what it is worth.

I put in an order for a Rush Premium on the first of March. In the delays thread somebody said that Stern in making more Rush machines in June. What are my odds of getting the game this summer? I would post this in the delays thread but that thread has drifted off subject and thought this one is more appropriate now.

I finally got my Premium! Yay! I attempted to connect the machine to Stern Insider Connected. I followed the instructions and connected my wifi to the pin. However, step 5 tells me to go to Stern Insider Comnected in the game menu and select that. I show a wifi strength of 25. However, the game will bot connect. When I select Test Connection, I get nothing. Any suggestions?

#9234 1 year ago

Not bot connected.... not connected (sorry, typing on a small iphone)

#9235 1 year ago

Question regarding the diverter and action button: according to the rule sheet, when I push the action button (pulsing red) it is supposed to activate the diverter and the flashing red lights on the side signal which side of the playfield the ball will come down, correct? When I push the button, the flashing lights alternate sides, but the ball keeps coming down the same ramp, usually the right ramp 95 percent of the time. Is the diverter not doing the job?

#9307 1 year ago

I noticed that I never get the Far Cry multiball. Played nearly a hundred games and still have not seen it. Maybe I just suck? I can get the first ball in the scoop and the screen says Far Cry ball one locked. When I hit more balls into either scoop nothing happens. The rule sheet says that putting a ball into either scoop after the first ball is locked will start the multiball. What am I missing?

#9308 1 year ago
Quoted from RC_like_the_cola:

This happens on mine too. The diverter is working properly, but sometimes a side ramp shot isn't strong enough to cross over and come to the right inlane, for example. It works fine for all 3 of the other possible return feeds. Mine is pretty steep, though. I've wondered if this could be the reason.

I tried going into the settings and increasing the diverter strength to something like 220. Still nothing. I think the default strength was set at around 135.

#9322 1 year ago

I am slowly getting the hang of this game . Can somebody explain how the Freewill multiball works exactly? Reading the directions, it seems I need to collect the instruments and then lock a ball in the lower left part of the playfield (area behind the instruments?). I can get the ball back there, but I have never been able to start the freewill mb. Any tips would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Heard a couple of quotes yesterday, that I haven’t heard before, that got me chuckling.

Does anybody know if all the quotes have been put out there? Or did they record a few hundred and release new quotes in new code updates?

#9450 1 year ago
Quoted from blowback1976:

Alright, I've been struggling with this issue since day one, and don't see any others referencing it in the forum. Anyway, 90% of my left ramp to right in-lane shots never make, as they hit the diverter bracket, slow right down and dribble down to the left in-lane.

I have the same problem..... also since day 1

A couple of weeks ago I unlocked Cygnus book one while playing at home. This song then became a song choice when playing new games. However, it disappeared the other day. If you unlock Cygnus (either book), does it only stay a song choice for a limited amount of time?

#9587 1 year ago

A quick question regarding multiball: I was watching a youtube with Ray explaining rules. He seemed to allude there was a way to cycle through multiball choices. How is this accomplished?

#9588 1 year ago
Quoted from spandol:

I'm pretty sure you have to be logged into Insider Connected when you achieve it. From then on when you log in, you have that song as a selection. It says unlocked by "ID"; your insider ID.

True, but I played logged in the other night and the choice for that song has vanished. So, it must be some glitch.

#9609 1 year ago

Updated to the code 1.0 last night. Played one game this AM before leaving the house. Seemed to work OK.

#9617 1 year ago
Quoted from Dalton71611:

#10885 1 year ago

I began the process of downloading the latest code this AM. Download speed is on the average of 30. Six hours later and about 12 percent complete overall. At this rate the download will take around 18-20 hours. Is this normal? Last I checked this was 2022 not 1997.

#10937 1 year ago

I recently updated to the most recent code and was wondering if any others have noticed something strange, yet halfway amusing. At the conclusion of a game, when the different bonuses are displayed there is a strange noise that is quite similar to somebody ripping a huge fart. Is this some part of the new code or some type of easter egg dropped into the game?

#10956 1 year ago

Anybody out there ever have the ramp quit working....stopped going up and down?

#10960 1 year ago

went into diagnostics and then to lift ramp stepper motor test.....and nothing happens...no test nada. suggestions?

#10962 1 year ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

If yes, proceed...
Examine the special node board that drives the ramp motor carefully. If it's blown, there's a square chip on it that should have burn/scorch marks on one side of it.

Thanks. Will check it out now

#10964 1 year ago

It appears my chip has not been damaged. As you suggested, I will look in the index of this forum for where to turn next.

Yes, the clock appears to be working. Strange.

#10970 1 year ago
Quoted from gandamack:

Yes, the clock appears to be working. Strange.

OK, scratch that comment. Went into Drum Clock Test and nothing happens. Is it possible that the chip is fried with no visible discoloration?

#10972 1 year ago

Hmmm. I am not able to perform any of the node board tests (and yes the white plunger is pulled), but I can perform the node bus tests. Is this normal?

#10974 1 year ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

Is the ramp the only thing that's misbehaving with you play a game?

Ramp is down and dead. Clock lights up, but the hand does not move. This could be a sign that the chip is indeed fried.

#10979 1 year ago
Quoted from SterlingRush:

Haven’t seen you mention it, are you getting the Node 10 Failure message on your screen, when powered on?
If not, did you do any work on the machine, and forget to plug something back in?

No failure message. did not do any work on the machine either.

#10982 1 year ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

When that particular chip blows, does it give a message? I don't remember that it does. The machine can still communicate with the board (which would throw a node error if it couldn't), the board just can't drive the ramp and clock motors anymore.

Got a new board being sent my direction. I would bet that resolves the issue. Thanks to the posts out there trying to help me figure this thing out! It reinforces my belief that this hobby has some of the best folks out there.

Quoted from pete_d:

#11003 1 year ago

Is there a way to fast fwd in order to see the Temples Of Syrinx mode and video screen montage (usually reserved once player gets to year 2112)? I have gotten to around 1.7 billion, but honestly I am still a bit far out in terms of time machine years to be even remotely close to 2112......and I doubt I will ever get to that level of play.

#11007 1 year ago
Quoted from j_m_:

yes, it has been posted here but I can't remember on which page. if I recall, there is an adjustment on the ramp in the game specific settings menu to adjust the up position of the ramp (maybe a little high) so that the ball cannot get stuck and rest there.

I was combing through this forum's pages a couple of days ago searching for posts relating to node 10 boards. I remember seeing several posts about the ramp gap from about seven months ago. An index search should pinpoint the posts.

#11032 1 year ago

Thanks for posting the five minute tutorial. I have had the game for some time now and never really understood how locking the instruments worked. Honestly, the video did not help too much either....but I saw how he removed the glass and was simply pushing the instruments. I did this and it helped a lot to figure out how to get the Freewill mb rolling.

#11035 1 year ago

Thanks for the link. Helps me out. Sometimes, I have to collect each instrument twice in order to get the quick flasher signaling Freewill mb is ready. Is this normal?

I have an LE still in a box with a Red Barchetta and other mods waiting for install. Running a barcade really eats into your personal pinball time which is what the LE was for. I play my pro at the shop all the time.
Anyway, anyone looking for an NIB LE and mods at cost, let me know.

Dude, if I were you then I would contact this person w/o hesitation.

Quoted from Vespula:

I did, and its a $5600 lift over the Pro. I just can't seem to make peace with that. ( and your Node 10 story isnt helping either - even though I know crimped wires are the suspect right now - its the price disparity mainly)

Hmm, that is quite a bit of cash. I think if one is really into the band then that person seems to opt for the LE or Prem. But if you are more into the game of pinball then go with the Pro. As has been said, this is a niche theme compared to having broad appeal to a wider audience. Buy Rush for home, buy Godzilla for the biz (and home...lol).

Pete d and his man-bun educating us

Quoted from pete_d:

Not sure this needs to be rehashed every time a new owner orders a machine. Literally all of this information is already present in this thread, available for those willing to spend a little time and look.
For example, https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/the-official-rush-owners-club-1/page/210#post-7216869
And I'd disagree with the claim that "in the end there's always one best solution". People are happy to argue endlessly about what the "best" one is, based on their own sense of aesthetics, functionality, and personal experience with what they've tried.

Interesting. However, my ramp is currently in the down position. I need the node 10 to be working in order to get the ramp up, do I not? Anyhow, I will give it a try later today.

Quoted from DiabloRush:

There is a less-than-perfect insurance policy Premium/LE owners can implement prior to a lasting solution to Node 10 problems. Disable both the clock and ramp in the settings. The ramp will stay up at all times, and I believe the software compensates for this (just like on the Pro models). Not ideal, but perhaps some peace-of-mind until a better solution arrives.

Quoted from Hayfarmer:I've had no #10 issues yet, don't even want to look at the board or wiring

I am a tad jealous! Mine is out and in the queue of owners waiting for a new board. Unfortunately, some have been waiting 2 months apparently.

I have a question for those in the know of how code updates function. Can a code update be applied to somehow deal with the node 10 board issue?

I should say, Replay = Extra ball. Does the scoop award for five free games = five extra balls?

If anybody out there has any thoughts on this subject please feel free to post: First of all, I hate to bring up the subject of the ramp/clock/node 10 issue, but I am hitting dead end after dead end. Yes, I have scoured every article and post regarding this issue. Yes, I have spoken with Eddie back at Stern HQ. Anyhow....
1. Ramp and clock are dead. This leads me to believe there is a node 10 issue. 2. However, I DO NOT receive the infamous "node 10 not found" message at any point. 3. When I attempt to run the Rush Specific diagnostic tests for the clock and ramp, nothing happens, i.e. there is no error message but the test simply does not perform. So, I can logically assume that the system is communicating with the node 10 board otherwise I would get the "node 10 not found" message. There is no visible damage to the chip or wires. I have spent considerable time retracing EVERY wire in the game in order to inspect for possible damage. Others have said, "oh it is because the wire bundles are tied to tight"....I do not see that. I have secured every possible connection. Frustrated.

And...no I did not buy the $500 Rush goodie bag. Salt in the wound right there....but that is a different thread.

I will be getting a node 10 board sent once Stern decides to stop putting them in new games and save a few for warranty shipments....but this could be a couple of months. But, then I will most likely be back at square one when that board goes kaput. There is some type of serious design flaw with this title and I do not feel we are getting the full story.

Thx in advance if have you advice or theories.

I an not sure if I follow when you say "LED on the node board." I verified the dip switch positions are correct with the tech at Stern (there was also a previous post telling us what those positions should be... thx). I have not replaced the SD card.

Quoted from ian866:

Is the LED on the node board flashing to show that it has comms / power, have you checked the dip switch position is correct on the board for the game, did you replace the SD card ?

#11411 1 year ago
Quoted from ian866:

There is a small yellow LED on the board that will flash if comms and power are ok, Stern SD cards can be a little flaky so it's always worth while to replace that and try

Ok.... just used to have everything powered down with the playfield up and working on things. Ya, I will plug it in and have a look with the lifted playfield.

#11414 1 year ago

Total of three LED lights on node 10 board. The yellow light is flickering at a high rate. Is this normal or should it be solid?

#11415 1 year ago

If somebody has a functioning Prem or LE could you pop the top and verify your node 10 lights, in particular the yellow one. Thx

#11416 1 year ago

OK.... I figured out the answer. Flickering yellow is normal... hell, if my node 10 board is OK then what is up with the ramp and clock?

#11419 1 year ago

Can somebody tell me the size of the sd card. I assume it is a 16. Just does not say anywhere on the card. Going to start at ground zero and format a fresh SD card and then install code via USB. Node 10 is communicating and running, so this has to be an SD card issue.

#11432 1 year ago
Quoted from wcbrandes:

Can anyone confirm for me that update 1.02 took forever to upload onto a USB stick ? 6 items is taking half hour or more to upload! Either that or one huge update !

Quoted from Animal:

So, my node 10 board went on me on Christmas day. Been in touch with c/s and Im getting it replaced. In the interim, I guess the game plays the same without the ramp moving, is that right? As well, I guess, the up position would work as this is the Pro position, but, would the game play the same with the ramp down always?

Ya, the shots up and through the ramp register the same with the ramp down and the ball bouncing back.... really messes up the flow, but to answer your question, the game does play... just not as envisioned. I will go on the record and say that the LE and Premiums are lemons. The Pro is the more valuable version of this pin.

#11535 1 year ago
Quoted from aamauzy:

disabled the ramp in software, disconnected the stepper motor, and put a shim under it to hold it up in place to replicate the flow of a pro and............. I gotta say it plays pretty nice like this

I admire your Macgyverism. I wish we would not have to resort to converting our Prems/LEs to Pros by stuffing debris into the ramp in order to keep it up. Anyhow.... anybody out there want to trade their pro for a prem?

#11566 1 year ago
Quoted from Animal:

Thanks for the help again! I was struggling with a shim, so I bought a sponge and stuffed it in there with no need for a cable tie.. If anyone wants to do it, get a yellow one as it works with the color scheme around the ramp as you can see it from the top of the play field, in the gap, if you look for it. So now there is a plump bob and sponge bob!! Sorry, couldn't help it...

Sorry man... I ain't do this crap and I cannot advise others to do this. If we all do this, Stern will absolutely do nothing and call it case closed. We have to take on the mindset of a loyal union member in order to not get stiffed by management. The more people who confront Stern on this issue, the quicker a Stern solution will be implemented.

Just installled a new node 10 board I bought. Took the old one out. #11583 1 year ago

#11584 1 year ago

Tips for people getting new node boards: 1. make sure DIP settings are accurate 2. On your old board slide off the tall "green wall adapter" (hate this thing) and make sure to put it on your new board. In the photo a few posts back I did not do this, be careful because the plug goes smoothly on the pins without it and it is simple to forget. 3. Enjoy the new board (ramp and clock) until it burns out again...enjoy

#11586 1 year ago

Well got about 2.5 hours worth of play on this new node board before it shit the bed. I guess you got to laugh because Stern ain't gonna do jack about this issue. I knew it would happen, but damn that thing fried quick!

#11593 1 year ago
Quoted from SterlingRush:

That tells you there’s something else causing the issue. If you haven’t, follow the wires, from plug back to the ramp, undo all zip ties, check for damage. Check the connector, make sure all pins are seated within the housing. Check wires at ramp, make sure it hasn’t rubbed through the insulation.
Also do the same for the clock, but better chance it’s in the path from the ramp.

Appreciate the feedback. Agreed, node 10 boards are not the issue. The issue is bigger, much bigger. I am starting the painstaking process of tracing the wires. No fun. I started at the ramp as suggested. You know the wire bundle on the side of the ramp encased in a black tube that goes up and down when the ramp is raised and lowered? Well, I did notice that this constant motion of up and down has wore through a small part of the black tubing and is exposing a wire. Do you see the yellow? Do you think that could be a cause? The constant motion would make sense because it causes a runbing action upon the tubing. Anyhow, I will keep looking to see if there is something more substantial.

Quoted from benime:

You want to look at the wires running between the stepper motors and the Node 10 board. Specifically, those two 4-pin connectors on the Node 10 board near the chip that blows.

Thanks for the help. Undid the zips and traced the wires running from step motor and wires to the clock. I could not locate any damage. The zips were beyond snug though.

#11611 1 year ago

As far as total plays before the node 10 chips burn up: got the machine new and got around 700 plays. Spoke with Stern and their solution was to put me on the waitlist for a new board. Got tired of waiting and spent 180 bucks on a new board. Got about 2.5 hours of play on that board before that node 10 board chip cooked.

Going to take apart the clock today, so I can access an area that is hiding an area of wire, after that, I have no idea.

#11612 1 year ago

I do feel that if this type of issue was happening with Godzilla then Stern would be working overtime to resolve the issue at the root cause. Since this is primarily a Rush Premium issue and this game has sold at a fraction of the number of Godzilla, then it will not be addressed. IMO the solution will be solved by the pinside community and us helping one another.... hopefully.

#11613 1 year ago

For those out there that do podcasts or other types of pinball media work, could you possibly mention this issue? This helped push Stern to address the scoop issue last year. Maybe a similar effort is required? Thanks.

#11616 1 year ago

Ideas for Stern:

Step1: update code so the Premium plays as a Pro (ramp stays up). This allows the user to play the machine.

Step2: devote significant engineering hours to solving this issue. It is in the company's interest, because if not fixed, the problem will pop up in future titles.

Quoted from Jesterpester:

Stern sent me a new motor with my last node 10 replacement board. Replaced both and got 2 games out of it and blew the board again. 3 blown boards now and I’m stuck here waiting for Stern to figure out what’s going on. Don’t waste your money on a motor as it’s probably beyond that.

Not as bad as the previous photos; however still not beautiful. On your other games are the zip ties tied so tight that they crimp and deform the wires?

Note the area around the white connection terminal. My last burned board did not have this, but this one does. Can somebody confirm that this terminal is solely for the ramp? Thanks

#11690 1 year ago
Quoted from benime:

I'd have to open mine up to trace which header controls which stepper.

I am fairly certain the white terminal (furthest right and with burn mark) goes to the motor and the other white terminal (furthest left and no burn residue) goes to the drum clock.

#11697 1 year ago
Quoted from Peak-Pin:

Based on your previous photo, your red wire on the drum is highly suspect for internal breakage.

I agree. I dismantled the clock and put it back together. That red wire was the worst of the lot. Honestly, all the wires going to and from the ramp motor look OK and the connections are OK as well.

So, in order to narrow this problem down, I disconnected the drum clock from the node board and installed board number three. If it burns up again then the issue is from some unseen problem with the ramp motor. If I have no issues then the drum clock was the culprit.

#11707 1 year ago

Sorry to monopolize this thread into node 10 board discussion, but my third node 10 board said goodbye. Got about 30 plays. Drum clock was disconnected this time around so issue is with the ramp stepper motor and associated circuits/wires.

#11711 1 year ago

Can somebody tell me what this piece is exactly? It sits on the node 10 board. Replacement boards do not come with it, so I take it off the original board and always slide it on the replacement boards. Noticed one of the pin holes is a little metallic. Should that be a concern? Thanks

You will get it. Once you get higher up in the points tally, the multipliers are what is key. Also, it doesn't hurt to have a decent boost on a particular mode. The drum solo (difficult shot) function can also rack up some serious points. I remember once (maybe it was an error), but every time I hit the drum pop bumpers, i was getting around 250,000 vs the normal 10,000. If Godzilla had a major game design flaw (like Rush), I would bet the problem would be addressed and solved yesterday. Unfortunately, Rush Prem/LE owners are being put on the back-burner because we are not the "big deal" (smaller owner community) like the Godzilla owners. I do have a degree of faith that the engineers are looking into the issues, but just not at the intensity they would if this was a bigger title. I would love to play this machine again....

Unfortunately, the game gets dismissed by people who have not even played a single ball.

Will be posting my Rush Prem for sale next week. Going to install a fresh node 10 board. Obviously will be upfront with potential buyer about the Rush Prem/LE node 10 issues. Price will reflect node 10 issue (....and possibly tank the value on the Prem version of this machine). Going to be very upfront and honest. Buyer needs to have patience (more patience than myself), for Stern to address this issue and come up with the fix. Christ man....this is worse than breaking up with a past girlfriend. If anybody in this community knows somebody who would appreciate a gorgeous Rush Prem at a steep discount, then feel free to shoot me a PM. Again, I am waiting on the node 10 board to arrive and install it...then I will sell. I am honestly heartbroken.

Quoted from John-Floyd:

If you paid with a credit card, I'd push the "Lemon" theory or push back big time at Stern. Completely unacceptable for your machine to be down for owing it such a short period of time. They should pay for shipping and you should send that machine right back to them to make things right. It's a hard sell for someone to buy a machine that is broken with no resolution in sight from Stern

I agree, but after 50 plus emails and basically getting a copy and paste reply of "our engineers are looking into it, we will pass along any updates" I know when I am getting blown off. As mentioned, the buyer needs patience. They need to know what they are getting into with eyes wide open. I hate to say it, but I think Stern is too focused right now on selling $20,000 Bond SLE machines.

After reading the thread dealing with all the James Bond drama basically saying, "someday the code will get there", I realize just how advanced and superior Rush is to Bond. Even upon initial release the code in Rush was light years ahead of Bond. Do you think Gomez, Borg and Elwin help each other and bounce questions off one another? Or is it a pride thing....and your team is your team?

#12108 1 year ago
Quoted from Hayfarmer:

Big difference, I think, is how involved the band was in making Rush, Bond licensor not involved other than yes or no decisions. Rush seemed to really enjoy the experience

Very good point. I guess with Bond, Stern is simply dealing with lawyers' emails..... not quite as enjoyable I would guess...

I think it was Cary Hardy who mentioned that Zeppelin was more like a jukebox than a pinball machine. Possibly Bond is more of a vehicle for movie clips (pending licensing approval, lol)?? With that said, I did in fact have fun shooting the Bond game. But, it was a bit frustrating because I always found myself saying, "oh man they should do this or they should have done that..". With Rush I was always saying "man this is frickin' amazing!"

The Rush music fans bought most of the machines when this title was first introduced. Now, you have people who have never heard of the band (think millenial age group) getting the opportunity to actually play the game and discovering what a fantastic game it is.... even if they are not into the music. I have seen this on several occasions.

My wife ( who begrudgingly went to one rush concert with me 20 years ago and hated every minute) :
"Oh, my God .. now I have Rush songs popping into my head all day long!"
Love it!

Maybe the music will grow on her? Hell, you may come hone someday and find her playing Caress of Steel in its entire. Then you'll know she has graduated from occasional listener to hardcore fandom.

Quoted from vikingerik:

Next project is to get up the courage to install the Ninjacamp scoop protector. That involves taking apart more than I've ever done on a pinball machine.

Good job! Usually, I would just play the Cygnus modes via settings....only got to book 1 twice by getting all the multiballs completed. Concerning the scoops, don't sweat it, it is not that bad. But, make sure that is what you want to do (which it is), because you will end up having to bend the old metal scoops.

Has anyone in this thread gotten the "Never turn your back on a monster" Achievement? It seems incredibly difficult to get. Probably the hardest achievement stern has posted to date (would be curious if there are others that are harder).

Unfortunately, I am often too lazy to scan my phone into the Insider Connector and simply just play.

That owl looks pretty cool! First I've seen that.

Even better! Why not go for the real thing?

Did Bond machines have a goodie bag?
If they did Rush buyers really got screwed.

I believe there was a goodie bag....it just cost $500
and yes....I would gladly forgo the goodie bag for decent code upon release.

Quoted from VisitorQ:

I have a feeling Rush is about to go up in value. People are finding out just how great of a game it is and dealers are running low on inventory.

Probably correct there. This game reminds me of Cirqus Voltaire. A different theme that is not for everybody, but is truly unique with amazing gameplay.

For a while I thought he did this when you drained on ball three when there was an extra ball available. Just a case of confirmation bias, though!

Would be funny if he said this when you plunge the first ball.

Quoted from bigguybbr:So you downloaded a Starman SVG you found on the internet, pasted a pinball onto it, and are selling the design for personal profit on a made to order t-shirt site because you want to crowd source a pinball machine...

Lemonade stand... car wash.... just happy to see the young kid is trying to raise some money.

You should strongly consider doing away with your current scoop set-up and going the ninjacamp route. Just my 2 cents. The gap with the current scoop protection is going to cause issues.

Quoted from MJK-911:

11- Months and Game is still BROKE, 25-plays NIB, Stern refuses to send all new parts associated with Node-10, I have purchased 15- NIB Sterns in the past 2-1/2 years and currently have a JB-60-th coming, I consider myself a Customer that they would value, but clearly my business isn’t important.

I believe that Stern started mailing replacement motors and boards last week. There was an earlier post showing a warranty fix package being received and I believe there was a post above that shows a person installing the new warranty motor. I would give it another couple weeks and I would bet that you will receive the package from Stern.

Quoted from Drussksu:

Just noticed a glitch in the new software update. I was in a multiball, I think it was subdivisions. I hit the super jackpot shot and all lighting as well as the flippers went dead until the super jackpot animation was completed

Strange. The only thing I can think of is if you had started all the other multiball modes earlier in the game, then you would have entered Cygnus mode which causes a temp power-down. But you did not mention the Cygnus planet mode so I am not sure why this happened.

Been away from Rush for awhile. Did Stern ever solve the node 10 board issue on some of the Premiums and LE's?

#15921 7 months ago
Quoted from Vespula:

You sold your premium?
Are you hunting for a LE? I see it in your wish list.

Ya, I miss it. But, the node board drama was driving me crazy.

Buy pinwoofer!! Cmon , you can buy 1 set, you just need to do it.

The pinwoofer setup is a must have item. I put in Maiden and would not hesitate to put in a Rush machine if I were you. Besides, the owner of Pinwoofer is one of the good guys in this crazy hobby.

Normally, it is do just as you said: " hold both buttons". After you hold both buttons, are you then tapping just one button in order to cycle thru different things?

Quoted from eharan:

I am sure this is a stupid question but how do I start DJ mixer mode? I can’t seem to find how to enable it? I thought it was hold in both buttons but that brings up different game play modes but I do not see DJ mixer in there? I do have my game on location and the owner asked me to put it in that mode while they are working. Is it possible it is not enabled for location play? I have even tried putting it on free play mode and still can’t find how to do it. Thanks!!
