Don't you just love it when your brand new LE decides to pull a Thelma & Louise and go on a 4 state cruise?
This is the second time it has happened to me, the first was with my GNR LE last year. This time it was Rush - the box was at the FedEx hub a few miles from my house *last Monday*, when it decided to take off and go see the country! It was last seen in San Diego two days ago, when it was captured and, er... "rushed" back here to be delivered to me last night. It's finally in my garage waiting to be setup, still in the box which, incidentally, accumulated a whole lot of damage on the road trip. I checked as much as I could and saw no damage to the pin, so I signed for it, but man was I ticked off... I will set it up tonight and hopefully everything checks out on closer inspection.
Oh well... life of the pinhead.
Quoted from Kez11:Totally agreed.
I bought one anyway.
I think I know the real issue: as long as you have no toppers at all, everything is fine and your life is great. Let's face it, the vast majority of toppers add very little to the experience beyond the first 15 minutes of "that is so cool" right after you install them. The problem is that, when you start adding them, your machines begin to feel "incomplete" without, so you buy more, and the more you buy the more incomplete the machines that don't have one feel. It's a vicious addiction, worse than nicotine.
I think manufacturers should throw in a free topper with your first ever NIB pin... always take your marketing lessons from drug pushers!
Bought one too, of course.
Quoted from Pinplayer1967:Most likely limited. I learned my lesson years ago and dithered on the $399 Iron Maiden topper and missed out, now I just tell my distro when buying a game to reserve a future topper.
I remember reading an interview with Wolfgang Porsche, they asked him how he got their top cars to keep their value so well and being in such high demand, and he replied: we estimate how many we could sell, and we make fewer than that. I guess Stern must have learned the same lesson because they seem to never have any inventory sitting there.
Three years ago I hesitated a couple of weeks before ordering the UV Kit for my Stranger Things, next thing you know it took 16 months before my order was fulfilled. Lesson learned... make decisions fast or be prepared to wait.
