What a game. Can't imagine that or even where to begin....my GC 669m and I thought what a game.
2b??? How the heck do you break that atmosphere, anyway?? Stratospheric!!

Know the modes and what to shoot for in those modes (learn to shoot without looking at the target in multiball to keep your eyes near the flippers), work up the jackpot bonuses, get the 1-2-3 combos set up, try to keep yourself in multiballs as much as possible and take the riskier shots in multiball instead of single-ball play, etc.

Once you get things stacking up and work through the modes then the scores will add up quickly. Work on the accuracy of your shots. If you can't yet shoot accurately with the ball on the move, learn to cradle/pass/catch to make your shots more accurate from a cradle (ie: the ball rolls at the same rate each time, so much easier to shoot more accurately). As you make more shots consistently, the ball should stay away from the outlanes, improving your scores. There are various tutorial videos on Youtube about pinball skill basics which are worth a look.

Use the action button to have the ramps return the ball to the side you want it on, anticipating where your next shot will need to come from.

Watch Rayday's videos:

Hopefully that helps. The deeper you get into Rush, the more rewarding this game gets!

More than helps, thank you, this is so awesome just boiled down and the way I need to hear it at just the right time in my learning (advanced beginner?) Where I totally understand what you're saying just didn't have it all organized in simple terms like that. Thanks for sharing your experience with me and others reading this!

The should be a Key post for Rush playing tips

#12956 1 year ago

I've seen people use different overall strategies to pinball. Seems like a lot of the highly competitive players extensively use a lot of catches/passes, cradle multiple balls in multiball to have more control over shots, etc. I tend to just "go for it" in multiball and glance up to see what is lit and keep an image of that in my mind, then watch for the balls to make the shots down by the flippers and essentially flip blind (knowing the angles/shots I want to hit). I don't cradle much in multiball, which probably lowers my scores - but it seems more fun to me to play that way, instead of stopping to analyze shots, etc. I've been collecting/playing for around 25 years now, so in general my shot accuracy is pretty good even with balls on the fly. At least good enough for me to have fun and get far on the games in my collection.

I think my top Rush score is around 4.7 billion. I don't often score in that range, but sometimes if I'm "In The Zone" and just playing relaxed I get scores like that. There's a lot for me to work on yet, and most of it is around the things I mentioned above (catching, trapping, passing). There are always areas to improve - it helps to focus on a certain aspect each week.

The big thing is to look at what other (better) players are doing and study what's working for them and adapt pieces of that to your technique. Knowing the possibilities and mechanics helps you identify where you can best improve.

Yoda, you are.
Man you are in my head. This is exactly like my thinking and observations about me when I'm playing but only 1.5 years experience and my scores reflect that.. GNR Nov'21, now Rush Dec'22. It's great to know and hear this.. the direction and thinking and playing style is so similarly to yours it's eerie, but I just can't articulate it so succinctly... That's your experience showing! Oh, and your 4.7Billion, of course.

#12958 1 year ago

Vespula May be time to replace your GNR avatar with a Rush avatar. Then again, it may be time to replace my Pinball Magic avatar with a Rush avatar.

#12959 1 year ago

The big thing to do to blow up scores in Rush is to play and finish multiple songs without draining, so you get the x4 rainbow records in place and keep them there. Those overwhelm anything else you do to line up record colors or increase shot values (you can do those too, but the x4s are the lion's share.) And they work for multiball jackpots too, and also the 1-2-3 combo shots. Whenever you get one of those how-the-hell-did-that-happen games, that's how, you got the x4 rainbows and kept them for a while.

And yes, Rush rewards controlled catchy multiball play. It's very easy to catch balls on the right flipper, thanks to that overhanging slingshot - any ball that rolls into that area will tend to rattle around off the slingshot post and shed momentum to stay there. Then you can make a lot of shots from the left flipper with one loose ball, including flipper staging to make upper flipper shots after the spinner or time machine.

Stern Pinball Reveals New Official "Spirit of Radio" Topper & Other Accessories for Rush Pinball
Fresh on the heels of winning multiple awards at this past weekend's TWIPYs, including the coveted Game of the Year award, Stern Pinball's Rush pinball machine finally has an official topper. Minutes ago, Stern revealed its new Rush "Spirit of the Radio" topper for the game in videos on YouTube and its social media channels.

The topper includes moving gears and a clock that awards one of four items in the game "Extra Ball," "Advance Time Machine," "Millions or a new scoring mode called "Frenzy," which is available exclusively on games with toppers.

In addition to the topper, Stern showed off several other mods for the game, including a new "2012" illumined shooter knob, new "Rush Starman" Side Armor and add-on Expression Lighting Kits.

As of this writing, I have not seen prices for these new accessories yet. I will share that information when it becomes available.

Stern also released new code for Rush today, Version 1.10. The update includes brand new "Concert Mode" gameplay.

"NEW CODE! Stern Pinball has posted new RUSH code v1.10.0 for the Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition models. This code contains numerous game enhancements including a new "Concert Mode" gameplay mode as well as full support for all official RUSH Accessories. The Topper accessory includes 4 features (Extra Ball, Advance Time Machine, Millions, and Frenzy, a new scoring mode available exclusively with the topper). This code also contains additional polish, game adjustments, and bug fixes."

#12977 1 year ago

I didn’t even see them posted on sterns site yet.

#12986 1 year ago

Yeah I think you're right looking at the topper now it's going to be 2K or more I guess it's wishful thinking on my part

#12987 1 year ago

Just because it has a motor and some pulleys shouldn’t make it a $2k topper.

I’m hoping $1k or less with that BOM.

#12988 1 year ago

Brilliant marketing by Stern. Release a video, get everyone talking, see how much people love or hate it, decide if they should charge $1500 or $2500

#12989 1 year ago
Quoted from Schwaggs:

I agree. I don't see why it has to be $2000. Probably two small motors moving the gears and clock + some LED lights in there.

#12990 1 year ago

Knowing that the pricing is going to be ridiculous for any of these pieces, I’m not seeing anything I have to have.....

Maybe redo my expression lights, but not overly interested in the other stuff. It’s cool, just not that kind of $$$ cool. Which is weird, I thought I’d be all over these, lol.

Topper looks a lot better than what they released for Mandolorian, $10K by Christmas!

New code will be fun.

TMNT is $999 and basically does nothing. This has the clock, the gears, AND extra software. How is this going to be less than the TMNT topper? $1500-1800 all day. Can't match the Mando topper, but it can easily slide in beneath it. There will be buyers.

#12992 1 year ago

Doesn't the eyeball move? Plus extra modes?

#12993 1 year ago
Quoted from kermit24:

Doesn't the eyeball move? Plus extra modes?

The eyeball moves but just side to side and is super lame. No extra modes, everything but the eye is a flat plastic.

I have a feeling that regardless of the functionality or coolness of toppers from here on out - they’re all gonna be 2K unfortunately. I’d love to be wrong.

#12994 1 year ago
Quoted from kermit24:

Doesn't the eyeball move?

Yes, but in the scheme of the topper, it basically does nothing.

Quoted from kermit24:

Plus extra modes?

IIRC no extra modes. It's just integrated into the code to celebrate getting things like jackpots. And it will light the turtle selected at game start. Nothing to the extent of Rush's topper which has additional mystery features. TMNT topper is garbage.

I recently got my dream Rush pin NIB, but I'm still a newb at all-things-pinball, so any sage advice will be greatly appreciated: My Rush Premium arrived running 0.97, so when I go to install the new code update, should I use the Quick Update or the Full Update to get it up to 1.10? Does it matter that my pin is behind on code updates?

#12996 1 year ago

My guess is $1,299. Look at the catalog of toppers:

Yes update it. You can use the wifi to update via insider connected as well. Otherwise, quick seems to work fine. Use full if you have an issue.

If you're new, I'd still recommend going usb route, easier to do for most, me included. But I'm old,,

#13000 1 year ago

So Rush being my first NIB, I'm a little out of the loop regarding accessories. Should I be getting in contact with a distributor for any of these (especially expression lights) - I'm one of those weirdos who bought their pin from Stern's Amazon store so I haven't worked with a dist before - or will Stern be selling everything direct? Thanks.
