I just received a "replacement motor" from the dist. for my premium. I have yet to have a blown node board. (1186 plays so far) Is there a consensuses on replacing the motor? I hate to fix something that isn't "broke".

Mylar and turn down your eject power as low as it will go that the balls still come out consistently.
I can usually go down to 170 area I think it’s factory like 225

Yep 225.... 176 was as low as I could go and it still feeds. Thanks!

Some folks get bent on shooter lane blemishes. No game plays any different with some shooter lane marring. It's a stupid and pointless thing that some collectors worry about. I will never take money off purchasing a game because the shooter lane has a little wear.
That said, if you want to keep it looking pretty, add some mylar, and you are good to go

Funny tho, first thing damn near every person asks for is shooter lane pics.
Quoted from Hayfarmer:Funny tho, first thing damn near every person asks for is shooter lane pics.
And most of us still laugh and just shake our head.
Shooter lane pics were the first sign of the home rich guy collectors that came into the hobby years ago. No one ever cared what the shooter lane looked like before the LE crowd came along.
I get both perspectives. That being said it ain't no big whoop to throw down Mylar next time the glass is off.
Might as well.

Oh I know, bought my first game 40 yrs ago. I do try and protect the lane tho, bugs me when its all beat to hell.

Nah it does work and isn’t expensive, so it’s not a bad way to keep wear down.
Quoted from Hayfarmer:Oh I know, bought my first game 40 yrs ago. I do try and protect the lane tho, bugs me when its all beat to hell.
Yea there is no doubt the wood has gotten softer than those old games. I actually don’t mind the wear on the spike 2 games.
The SAM era games I bought new drove me nuts because the clear would crack starting at the shooter lane and THAT looked awful.
Clear fingernail polish helped quite a bit!
Quoted from bigguybbr:Some folks get bent on shooter lane blemishes. No game plays any different with some shooter lane marring.
Ehhhhhh... it can depend on the game. Yeah, it isn't likely to cause us to have any problems on our Rush pins given how high the ball ejects, but I know of a Space Station near me that the shooter divot is bad enough that the ball rolls forward of the plunger at rest. With the design of that plunge to the playfield the plunger connects just barely enough to make it up and into play. I'm wondering if a Cliffy protector will hold the ball up from the divot and allow it to roll all the way back to the plunger. Something needs to be done on that pin.
Personally I did install one of the Pinball Universe protectors early on. Yes, it will only last for so long and need to be replaced. But I'm a big Rush fan, this is an LE I've got, and I intend to keep it until I'm forced to part with it. So I'd like to keep it protected and the $25 or whatever to do so is worthwhile to me. To each their own tho.
Quoted from arcyallen:So I was trying to figure out what awarded an extra ball and saw that "eight ramp shots" would qualify it. I didn't believe it, because eight ramp shots would be waaaay too easy. So I decided to test it out.
And yeah, after trying non-stop for half an hour, I can confirm it's true.
That one's easy (and the default is 6, if it's 8 then it auto-increased on you), but all the other EBs are really far from the start button - 5 albums collected, 50 time machine years, 68 ramp shots.
One easy EB is pretty typical for Stern; other examples are Led Zep (one or two tours), Stranger Things (a low number of missions or burn it backs), AIQ (three sets of bullseye targets).

I think it's just one more piece of the Condition Puzzle, like number of plays. There was an Aerosmith for sale recently that was showing 2k plays...and a horribly, blackened beat up shooter lane. Clearly the number of plays wasn't accurate. Or, they cranked up the trough power to hear it eject over the cranked up music (that's a thing, right?).

I don't know I've been collecting pins since 2006 and the first thing I ask is for is shooter lane pics, as it's the easiest way to guestimate on the overall condition of the rest of the playfield and if I want to continue to even bother. I find the shooter lanes seem to take more damage faster than the rest of the playfield. So if the shooter lane looks crappy more than likely the rest of the game will look crappy. you can ask for pics of the other parts (which I do) but often I find those can be deceiving. so If I see a crappy shooter lane I usually just pass.
in my opinion a closeup of the shooter lane is the easiest way to let me know the condition that I can expect the rest of the game to be in. (now certainly the seller coudl send a pic of another perfect shooter lane... but that's another story)

That's actually a fair reply.
I see your point for sure however I've seen the opposite too, where people are obsessed with keeping a shooter lane nice because its a known thing people ask for and the rest of the game has never been cleaned or maintained.

Makes sense and more picture are always a plus!
Vespula's rush pic above is pretty common, and I will say the good news is that they will usually stop to wear after that point.

My best deals are pins that are dirty and haven't been maintained. I got my GoTG for a song from a laundromat owner who wasn't making money off of it. It had these beauties rolling around in it, was covered inside and out in dryer lint, so much grime on the play field that you could barely make out Star Lord's mask, and one of the decals on the head was ruined by something that rubbed against it over time and wore through the artwork.
For ~ $150 I grabbed a new decal, a cliffy, coil sleeves and stops, and new 'rubbers' from Titan and shopped it out. All the grime came off the with a little Novus 2. Gave it a fresh coat of wax. No one could tell that this game was routed and not HUO. Newer Sterns are built far better than the pins from 30-40 years ago. They can take some serious abuse and still be brough back into good shape without a lot of money or effort.

Freddy's pinball in Germany has shooter lane protectors
Quoted from yzfguy:Am I in the Rush thread?
It started with Rush, my shooter lane showing wear in about 3 months and about 400 plays.
It got a lot of comment ... Which I appreciated!!
Thanks all.
I got my protector from a Pinside Shop:

Love mine, never think about it anymore since installation! I used clear.

Nice. Must have IMO.
Had an incredible comeback in a league playoffs game last night. Coming into ball 3 I was in 2rd among 4 players, but only the 1st place player had been able to do anything of note in the game. I then proceeded to blow it up, scoring at least 1.3B in ball 3 (and 4 because of extra ball) plus having to plunge another extra ball as in league we can only play one EB. No one was able to catch me from there and ultimately this won me 1st place in our division. Only got my initials in for one score though, which was a 444M Subdivisions MB. Was a hell of a time!

This point...
Quoted from brzezicki:So if the shooter lane looks crappy more than likely the rest of the game will look crappy.
...does not equal this.

Haven't looked, but can you put a washer under the screw, to lower the height of the leaf?

Yes, trim the switch anywhere above the rivet. We do this on EOS switches all the time to stop them catching on the pawl.

wow that is cool. I was just thinking out amazing this game before right before I read this. That said I still credit much of the awesome ness it to the music of Rush. I cannot stop playing it because I don't want the music to end. also it's re-introduced me to songs I forgot about taht I never realized i love so much (bastille day, working man for example) I'm half tempted just to play rush on headphones whenever I play any pinball and see how that feels
Quoted from brzezicki:working man
This song rocks pinball.
I think my pin starts this song on first press of start after power up 70 percent of the time and I never mind... It's even better when I get "we have assumed control" at the beginning with the opening guitar. Great song to start the game. Ooh what a Rush to play to!
