Quoted from Ghosters:

Rush Prem is my first Pin I have owned, so I am also new to working with a Pinball company such as Stern. I have had my game for 2/12 months, with 1 month of down time due to Node 10 board failures. I am not that peeved with the failure, but more with Sterns warranty process and their lack of engagement of when your warranty part will be delivered. They are quick at giving a warranty claim, but after that your absolutely ghosted, until the part magically arrives. Why cant we get periodic emails updating us on the status of the claim and tracking numbers when the part ships. Is this asking to much? Do the other PB companies such as JJ and American Pinball act the same way? Once again, I'm new so I'm more curious than anything else. The company I work for bends over backwards for our customers. Maybe I'm expecting too much.

Adam Spreadbury at Stern is a fine example of how the company should conduct their business, after that you enter the mystic world of the parts department.

Quoted from Vino:

My distributor has been great and Stern on point with handling service items.
Sorry you had that experience and hope it improves.

My dist. is amazing! Stern is underwhelming, way under.

Like I said, I would love to say great and amazing things about Stern but they have much to improve on IMO. I certainly hope things change soon but I am doubtful of this...

Quoted from schudel5:

I'm sure the expression lights themselves are the same. But there's some connector differences between the node 2 boards used in LZ and Rush. Not sure about the distribution board between the node board and expression lights but I think there's a difference there too.

Later today I'll have access to both a Rush and LZ that have the expression lighting installed. I can take a look and try to identify if there are any differences. Having not closely looked at these installs before, how far back from the expression lights themselves do I need to look?

Speaker light kit installed on my Rush LE, featuring the Star of the Federation. Really cool with hundreds of mode combos.
It can be found at (Google) Kimball's Pinballs if y'all are interested.

That does look pretty cool. Too bad that the stock speaker grill is a part of the main plate and not something that could be removed to allow the star man to be the "grill" itself.

Alright, I'll pay $500 + shipping costs to any LE owner that will let me borrow their expression light-kit until Stern releases the official kit for Pro and Premium owners.

Once Stern releases the actual kits, then I'll buy one and ship yours back to you. And you just made $500 letting me rent your kit. Win win!

Send me a PM if you're interested.

#8258 1 year ago
Quoted from Schwaggs:

Thanks for the shoutout! I think the 5th piece really rounds out the look to the kit. I thought it only fair to send one to all prior customers.
Everyone should be receive the theirs in the mail in the next few days. If yours arrives broken or you just never receive it in the next 10 days, please PM me and I’ll send another one.

Got my additional piece yesterday or day before, either way it arrived. Thank you so much for going above and beyond, for a great customer experience.

I'm already looking forward to reading the posts from pro and premium folks when they get the Expressions. Will be worth the wait for the majority, I expect!

#8261 1 year ago

So, I looked at the LZ vs Rush expression setup and I *think* it will work. LZ has 2 extra wires coming from the node board to the expression splitter, but these look just to be additional power, with the pins on the splitter board paired. 3 wires for Rush (pos, serial, neg) and 5 wires for LZ (pos, pos, serial, neg, neg). Connectors look interchangeable. I'll have photos to post later.

While it looks to me like this will work if you're really itching for expression lighting, I take no responsibility if you try it and ruin your pin!

Long story, short, Stern found a way to save money by eliminating those 2 wires.

Following @ Tuna_Delights idea, I think this t- molding really fits the LE color scheme very good. Great idea Tuna!

Unfortunately I can’t take that great offer. The expression lighting is so dam good. Lord only knows when stern will release them. I couldn’t not have them and just have the bare black side panels.

I know. How do you think I feel? Wish Stern would just release the damn kits for us all ready.

Noticed this just now. The guide is not loose, should I carefully put some epoxy in there?

Figure out if the guide wire broke… or just isn’t seated in the hole. If just not seated… hammer it in with a block. Don’t put it too low tho.

Looks like it's in there, but the hole is enlarged. Possibly from someone not being careful at factory install.

Looks like I might be waiting for my node 10 board for a while. Any advice on should I unplug the noteboard while waiting for replacement or just play it as is

#8276 1 year ago

OK just joined this elite club on Thursday with an almost new Premium. It was on the floor at SFGE and has a March 22 build date. I traded my AIQ premium for it and even though I had a lot of money sunk in AIQ, I don't regret that trade one bit! I've got all the essential mods on the way, except I haven't ordered replacement rings from Titan yet to get rid of the nasty Stern black rubber.

I can't seem to make up my mind what color to go with. I could see purple, blue, light blue, or even translucent. My wife seems to think grey or red would look good but I don't have a positive reaction to that idea. Any suggestions? Looks like swapping some of these is going to be an ordeal so I hope I can get it right the first time!

We went with purple, really happy with the result. I've seen light blue done as well. It's not bad, but we liked the purple better.

+1 for purple. One of the local barcades just refreshed their machine with those purple rubbers and it looks great. I may do the same to my Premium.

#8279 1 year ago

I went with blue. I’ve seen the purple and it looks awesome
I’m not sure you could go wrong, as long as you have a color that compliments the playfield

Don't have a picture handy, but I went with translucent. Looks good on the game, and let's some extra light through. Which is double nice with the various colors of light used in the game.

Bottom flippers, I went with an owl-matching light blue that someone else showed earlier in the thread. And then I did purple for the upper flipper, but I could see orange or pink working too.

#8282 1 year ago

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I'm leaning towards purple or blue, though the translucent is appealing too (with a solid color on flippers and posts). I can't stomach black... I know the titan black doesn't crumble like the stern rubber does, but I just like to change things up anytime I get a new game.

I turned the game off while waiting for my replacement board, since the time machine is such a large part of the game. I guess one option would be seeing if you could get the ramp to stay in the up position and then it might still be playable. I'll let someone else chime in if this a possibility, wise and how it might be accomplished. My first board took about 2 weeks to arrive and it's been two weeks since I received a warranty claim for the second one. Sure wish I could get a tracking number or know if the part has even shipped yet.

#8284 1 year ago

Yeah I’m in the same boat. It’s been about two or three weeks since I put in the request. My distributor has me on copy with the email to stern asking for an update but no reply. I’m fairly patient and I know how bad supply situation is right now I just would like to know is it going to be a week or a month or six months

Still not digging the black powdercoat, and can't decide on a color I wanna try. So, pinstripe from autozone today.

Count your blessings, I’m coming up on two months for my spinner target replacement......

#8287 1 year ago

Seems lime the plastics around the time machine are also “should loctite” as well.

They are very narrow at points as they surround the ramp. Found our ramp binding and not going down.

Found the plastic on the left was loose and broke in two… with one piece rotated and blocking the ramp. The small countersunk screw was barely holding on in the piece that was spinning.

Really no reason this plastic should have broke unless it was moving around and got caught by the ramp

I use translucent Titans on many of my games now. Years ago, use to fiddle with different colors, but keeping all the colors in stock just wasn't worth the effort.

The translucent posts and Ninja scoop also looks great. On this title, I simply used white Titan flipper rubber. Like the simplicity...

What's the concensus on scoop protector. My game came with the black nub blinders. I have the Ninja camp on the shelf but don't feel like swapping it to try it. 250 games and zero issues.

If you like the blinders then case closed. The ninja protector is closer to how Borg imagined it, I believe, and looks nicer and plays well.

Other than restricted access.

Install the NinjaCamp protector.

Scoop is easy to hit with the Stern solution. It's what I have on my game.

Works well, looks fine to me with the black nubs, and the scoop is protected and holding up well. Can't see why I would change it.

There's a saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
