Quoted from ian866:Thanks Vic, I'll see if I can buy a kit, Stern don't want to supply it FOC unfortunately despite all the failures !!
Wow. You don't have the ferrite bead on your stepper motor lead and Stern denied a request for a kit? That seems really weird when Stern was the one that issued the service bulletin about it. Was this denial from Stern or your local distributor?
I finally got around to installing my Ninjacamp protector. Fit perfectly & plays perfectly! Thanks Ninjacampers!

I also did a very subtle easy mod, but I highly recommend it. I changed the sling flasher domes to yellow & the back ramp flasher domes to purple. Here’s why this works well:
-Now the red flasher domes totally correspond to the red lockbar button. These are the domes that clearly tell you where the diverter is going.
-The yellow domes fit really well with the brass sling art.
-The Time Machine path has yellow lights, and every time you hit it, it triggers a light show from the sling domes. Now, they’re also yellow! The Time Machine hits cause a light show that seems more intentional, when before, I didn’t really notice.
-Purple rules. Now you got some purple domes.

I'd been debating going all purple but this is a pretty solid setup. I love the wash of lights from left to right (and vice versa) when you change the diverter. The light show on this game is phenomenal.
Are you hitting the scoop easier with Ninja installed? I might need to put mine in - not getting to mystery early in multiball has been killing me lately.
Completely unrelated but here was a wild stuck ball tonight from a shot through the left orbit. Guess I've got some adjustments to make on the back cabinet art there.
20220507_221633 (resized).jpgQuoted from swampfire:Normally I would agree with you, but something has changed recently, especially with the parts department. The initial tech support is still fine. I had 2 node board failures, and I got same-day responses, and they sent orders to the parts department for me. But I’ve been waiting a month for one board (QR reader), and almost a month for a node 10 board for Rush. They don’t share tracking numbers when they do ship, so you have no idea when things will show up or where they are. I’m still a Stern fan, but it’s frustrating, and I can’t even talk to a person there anymore. I bought 5 Sterns NIB and I own 8 now. I hope things improve soon.
I have an issue with the right side expression lights not working properly on my LE. I've gotten pretty good response from the the help desk, but now it comes down to parts. The parts department informed me that they were working on it, but that supply side shortages have been a problem... especially for node boards. I noticed that one chip on one of my node boards was made in Germany (not China) so I don't doubt that statement. Nevertheless, it's still a bummer that only one side of my expression lights is working correctly. I'm trying to be patient and hoping they will live up to their promises.
Quoted from JToeps:So yeah saving 10% on sales tax is substantial. Might do this for my next NIB as an excuse to visit.
Definitely worth it to buy NIB there, but so worth it even just to go and check out the place.

That is correct. E-mail reply from a Stern Tech / Engineer. The assumption is some games need it and some don't, I'd rather fit it and not have the hassle.

Weird. Why risk a node board blowout for a cheap preventative part? But maybe it was a software correction and newer software fixes the issue on that side, so they don't have to worry about it now.

I can't answer that one, other than the comment was ' when tested ', I'll reach out again next week and see, hopefully they'll let me buy the part if nothing else.
Quoted from onemilemore:Are you hitting the scoop easier with Ninja installed? I might need to put mine in - not getting to mystery early in multiball has been killing me lately.
The scoop was always easy to hit before when I had the Stern fork protector, seems exactly the same now. I never installed the rubber nub cage Stern sent.
Joined the club. Really excited about this pin. I’m a huge Rush fan, but it seemed so crazy to order a pin on launch day having only seen the promo videos. Somehow I ended up not even seeing or playing one until yesterday when we opened this up. I have to say that it actually exceeded my expectations. It would have been nice to have had a Premium, but that wasn’t in the cards financially and this is definitely one of the better Pro models available I think.

After 3 orders and lots of waiting for the International shipments, I was able to install my mods yesterday. Two months of waiting since unboxing in early March (noticed wear at a few problem areas immediately, stopped playing) my Rush LE is playable!
Installed the full scoop protector, the VUKypus, 3x rollover protectors and the inner loop fixes. All working great except for the loop fixes, which need some tweaking. Can appreciate how hard it is to implement a universal "fix" for the loop.
For good measure, also installed the pinmonk mode bracket set (this is essential for gameplay, thanks Vic!) and the time machine vacuum tubes mod from Space Coast (can confirm, looks even better in person than in photos/videos). Also put mylar in the shooter lane and the outhole to mitigate the inevitable playfield damage. Got the Stern trough kit installed too.
Wow, what an incredible machine. While I will keep my comments about Sterns manufacturing teams to myself, their software teams are crushing it right now! Just a kid in a candy store listening to the callouts, seeing the assets, and enjoying all of the references to the albums that I've been listening to since I was a kid (born '83, saw 3 tours - Snakes & Arrows, Time Machine and Clockwork Angels). In particular, the implementation of the weapon is great for hardcore fans, adding a competitive advantage to having an understanding of the Rush album catalog. Feels like I am just scratching the surface of an incredible adventure.
Rock on Rush bros! Now, where did I leave that rulesheet... Ahh there it is, excuse me, I'm off to see Cygnus

This was the response when I asked. Doesn’t seem to match what I hear elsewhere.
83274D94-D5F0-4718-AE93-5AFDC3308F0F (resized).jpegLike others, I've had issues getting the inner loop switch to register. I appreciate all the fixes and ideas. My fix was quite simple, and it's worked great for my particular machine. I simply tweaked the wire gate on the switch to lessen the amount of travel needed to register the switch is closed. This has been my standard method for about 30 years in fixing lane switches, and it worked great here, too. Since this, I've had 100% switch activation in the inner loop over a few hours of play.
1) Remove switch from underneath playfield.
2) Put game in switch test mode
3) Hold the switch closed with your finger, and slightly bend the switch upward while holding the wire blade closed at the base of the switch. This will have the effect of moving the activiation point to a shorter stroke of the switch.
4) Reinstall switch* and confirm switch activation on slight depression. Iterate steps 3 and 4 until you get a good "bite" point.
5) That's it.
*be sure to center switch in the lane on reinstallation
I'm well aware others have tried this method without success. It may depend on your particular machine and switch. The key in my case was to 1) hold the switch closed while bending to get a clean bend (see pic), and 2) testing the results and iterating to achieve a "bite" when just slightly depressed from the playfield.

Quoted from PinMonk:Guessing that it was one of the early builds that didn't have a ferrite bead on the power line to the stepper motor and it burned up the board. There's a service bulletin for installing the part (502-8017-00) on it, but it didn't affect a huge number of machines because stern caught it pretty fast. Documented here: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/the-official-rush-owners-club-1/page/94#post-6869212
Or it could have just been a defective node 10.
I have an early Rush Pro built on Jan 27th, 2022. Would you happen to know when they caught the Node 10 board issue and fixed it in production?

I did the same thing, noted it a few days ago. One guy suggested I would get ball traps on slow rolls because switch was higher, but I haven’t had a single one and it registers every time. Nothing more is really needed to fix this issue.

Ok, for those who want to protect there node 10 on Prem and LE and not factory installed here is all the Infos
Ferrite bead part number : 125-5021-01
And the installation instructions
I don’t think the ferrite actually helps with node 10 board failures. It just filters out high frequency noise, which might help make the switches more accurate. Based on this thread, node 10 failures actually seem pretty rare. Hopefully we can figure out why my buddy’s LE is going through them.
Quoted from CUJO:I have an early Rush Pro built on Jan 27th, 2022. Would you happen to know when they caught the Node 10 board issue and fixed it in production?
Pros aren't affected because they don't have a moving time machine ramp with the stepper motor.

Yeah, I don’t think Pros have that board at all. Or if they do, I bet it’s depopulated.

Quoted from indypinhead:I added a real knocker to my premium today.
[quoted image]
Could you tell me how you set it up in the settings i can’t seem to get mine working
Got my Rush (Premium) this week - it's my first table and I'm really happy to have it, but I don't have any experience in maintaining tables yet. I've noticed when I go into the service menu it displays four "Technician Alerts", which are just numbers (100, 103, 101 and 102 in that order) with "Press 'Select' for Topper Motor test". If I do that, I get to a screen which says:
Topper Motor Test
Move to switch 100: Failed
[102] [101] [103] [100]
Check Sw. 100
But the Switch Reference in the manual pdf only lists numbers up to 91. Could anyone tell me what I should be looking for?
Quoted from orangedude71:Wanted to check in with you.. My premium arrived today and i have the playfield protector ready to install. Do you still recommend placing it over the top of the scoop protector? Any other recommendations?
I put it on top of factory protector but below the fork. Sandwich it between the two. I added an extra washer under the fork post (post between the 2 scoops) to level it out and provide a gap. Holding up well.
I'm interested in the Ninja protectors.

Toppers not out yet. So it’s nothing to worry about. Surprised it’s giving a tech alert. Maybe that will be corrected in an update.

Can someone confirm that the stock subwoofer speaker grill is plastic and no longer metal on the newer Sterns?
I want to replace mine with either a metal grill so it'll quit vibrating on volumes >21.
Does a replacement subwoofer kit include a new metal grill?
Would this be the right one to buy for a stock Rush Pro? I think I need a 7" X 7" metal, not the 4" I just listed, but I can't find one.

I purchased the Pinwoofer KO speaker kit to install in my Rush premium...
I've decided to purchase the speaker light kit from speakerlightkits.com. I think the lit speakers look cool. I also plan on ordering the 5.25 speaker cut-out plates. My goal is to make my premium look more like the LE machine.
A question that I have...I really like the reflective silver face on the Kenwood KFC-1366S speakers that Stern uses in the LE pins. Do you think these will sound good w/ Pinwoofer kit? Has anyone tried this? The Kenwoods are rated at 4 ohm just like the Pyle speakers that are in Pinwoofer kit.

I'm interested in the Ninja protectors.
I’m running the stern V3 so i just slid it under the bumpers and called it done. I have a Ninja but decided to play this as is first. I did have some issues with the section behind the instrument knock downs so I cut that little finger off. Also I’ve had the ball trapped in the trough where the instrument knockdowns go. I have not leveled the machine yet so i suspect that may address it
