Due to an ongoing/slow healing elbow injury I haven't been able to play pinball for the last few months - or even the next few probably. So with the money saved from all the cancelled tournaments, reduced socialising etc. I bought myself a PS4 to keep me entertained.

The last 2 consoles I owned were the Dreamcast and Wii, so it shows how long I've been out of the game!

I bought a few games to get started (in the order I've enjoyed them):

Sniper Elite 4 (since got SE2 & 3)
Unchartered 4 (since got the free downloads of 1-3)
COD (free download)
Red Dead Redemption 2
World of Warships (free Download)
GTA5
Crash Bandicoot
Fifa 20
Journey (free Download)

I've just about finished the majority of the solo objectives in UC & SE, haven't played much of RDR2 yet and about to launch into that fully.

A couple of points:

Feel free to add me (WWJPin) if you're interested in joining up for CoOp games, or even just to get in touch.

What games would you recommend as my next game purchase based on my preference for the UC & SE series?
I've looked at both the Hitman and Assassins Creed series - these look like a similar style game play / story wise.

Quoted from taylor34:

Uncharted 4 wasn't that great in my opinion. I loved 1 and 2, 3 started slipping and 4 just wasn't great.
.

I agree that UC3 was a step down in both gameplay and story from 1 & 2. It was almost as if they were doing stuff just because it could be done (wave motion on the ocean liner) rather than focussing on the gameplay and story.

The story has become a much bigger part of the whole package compared to the game play throughout the series - maybe because as the PS4 loads the next chapter it needs something to take away from a black screen, hence the longer cinematics. Great when you first play the game, not so much when you're on your 2nd or 3rd run through. I just completed a run through collecting all of the missing rewards in UC4, and skipped the cinematics, only to be faced with a loading screen for 30seconds plus.

I think UC2 was the best overall of the series, but only just ahead of UC4.

Just had Hitman 1 & 2 delivered today, so will be trying them before trying to get into RDR2.

Will save TLOU 1&2 for a later date.

This may be akin to a newb saying that TAF is great, and everybody already knows this, but I've had the last week off and finally got round to playing Red Dead Redemption 2.

Holy Crap it is amazing, with gameplay, storyline, graphics, humour, everything - it really is by far the best game I have ever played.

I'm currently running through RDR2 for the third time.

The first time I just did the storyline, not focussing on any of the other side targets, and enjoyed the story and humour for what it was.

The second time I attempted 100% completion, but due to not planning it became a real pain and started to feel like a slog. Also collecting ALL of the exotic orchids before getting to the challenge which requires you to collect everything basically locked me out of full completion.

This time I'm planning as I go along, for example the challenge which requires 8 consecutive small game arrow kills I completed during the clear the bar side mission (ensuring I didn't complete it before getting there). Collecting the cigarette cards asap, and then using premier cig packs to fill in the gaps.

It definitely needs a checklist as you go along, in conjunction with an app map to help you plan your trips and cut down on ride time. Making use of the fast travel, both from camp, and by setting up a temporary camp.

It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm loving it still spending a few hours per night on it while watching the football in the background.

Quoted from beelzeboob:

The very definition of frustration: Loving Horizon Forbidden West, and sucking so bad I can barely kill a damn thing. I have no idea how you aim your arrows at glowing tiny areas of moving mech/animal things. Really annoying, but I love the game otherwise.

I'm finding the trick is to stay hidden and only confront the machines when you absolutely have to as part of the quest/task. Then when you have been able to upgrade your weapons / health / pouch etc you're in a much better place. It worked for me in ZD, hopefully it'll work in FW.

Another hint is to only try and tackle quests which are below or near your level, (it tells you the expected level of a quest in the quest menu) don't go rushing in to a mission which is too OP for you, pick off the lower side missions and tasks first.

I like the Sniper Elite & Hitman series, so decided to buy Snipe Ghost Warrior 3.

Word of warning don't even consider it - I haven't ever played a game so buggy in my life, and that includes HS2 when some doofus decides to trigger secret mania.

I can understand the complaints about travelling in RDR2 if your sole goal is just to reach the end of the game, but if you're going for 100% completion, you can pick up a lot of the required elements along the way travelling to the next scene, but you need to know where you are stopping on the way.
I'm on my 3rd run through of it so far. The combat is a little one-dimensional, but that's because it's more story/exploration based - you can't usually have both.

I just haven't been able to get in to GoW yet, and have been focussing on HzFW - although the dialogue trees are exceptionally boring and pointless.

Quoted from Kkoss24:

My favorite games were the Departed series , GoW series and Tomb Raider

The Unchartered series have a similar feel to the Tomb Raider series - definitely recommend
