I pre-ordered RE2 the second it was available, and didn't get the demo to keep the remake surprise intact.

January is quite the month actually, RE2 is one, but Ace Combat 7 is also coming out and it looks like Namco finally put their s*** together to revive the awesome series that goes back to the PS1. And then (well not just then but THEN) comes Kingdom Hearts 3, after 12 years of announcements, rumors and hopes, it's almost there and looks more fantastic than ever.

TO me KH3 is the most underrated series in modern gaming, one that should sell more than 10 million copies and be revered around the world as the most unexpected licence Disney ever gave and the most amazing use of a Disney licence that has ever been made.

Anyways I'm counting the days to each of those, while playing Earth Defense Force 5 til then, another great release this month, a game that started as a joke in 2003 and that has matured in its own twisted way to become the most intense/frantic action shooter, really a class of its own.

Quoted from heni1977:

Is PS really that much better than the XBox One X, LOL. Sorry, Trolling for my first time!

The choice goes down to which exclusive titles you are interested in. Sony has put some serious efforts in having a lot of exclusive, Xbox has been trying to catch up but in my opinion Sony is way above in that regard.

#61 5 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

Gran Turismo used to be so good, i cant believe they don't make that great again. Did you guys ever play that game called Blur on PS3? Man that was fun lol.

They are working on the next one, Yamauchi is a guy who takes his time. Rumor says it will be a ps5 launch title, there are a few images of their new graphic engine, if it ends up like that on the screen, the next GT will leave the planet speechless.

Did anyone get Ace Combat 7 ? If not, you really should, I've been on it for a week now, it's a great arcade dog fight game, the return of one the games from the initial line up of the PS1 some years ago, and I don't think it has any equivalent on the market.

#74 5 years ago

And just got an email from Amazon, Resident Evil 2 has shipped, they say delivey Friday, but who knows it could arrive tomorrow. I believe in miracle ! (and really can't wait to play this remake, 20 years after the original !)

#84 5 years ago

I just got an email from Amazon, Kingdom Hearts 3 has shipped. 12 years later I still can’t believe this is actually happening

#86 5 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

Never played Kingdom Hearts. I sure would like to have my old Socom games back though i know that much!

I remember the first Socom that came with the earset. Sitting in my dark room and going « Bravo attack to Charlie » that was good !

With modern voice recognition Socom would definitely be worth a new release

Btw you should really get into Kingdom Hearts it’s a one of a kind and my all time absolute favourite. Im on to a long night trying to wrap up RE2 so I can start KH3 tomorrow

#91 5 years ago

Confession of the day : I just received a delivery notification for Kingdom Hearts 3. I jumped from my desk, said I needed to rush home for an emergency and am now stuck in traffic while writing on pinside !

#94 5 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

Lol thats pretty funny adol!

The second half of the story happened when I made it home, and found my daughter on the couch playing it. I only have one PS4 and one game, so I'm still on Pinside, while trying not to look at the tv and waiting for bed time, to finally get to play MY game (dammit !)

#97 5 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

You are having some bad luck today lol.

It makes me miss France, where kids where at school until 6 pm !

#99 5 years ago

I finally managed to get the controller back from my daughter's hand... at 9pm. Playing KH3 feels like coming back home after a long stay away. I strongly recommend if you haven't played the previous episodes or if you forgot them to read one of the many summaries that can be found online, otherwise none of the story or the many cut-scenes will make any kind of sense to you.

So far I got everything I was hoping for, a KH that doesn't reinvent the wheel and that relies on the same gameplay that it has since the beginning.
They've put much more money on the table, the game looks like a real next gen one, gorgeous graphics, much bigger environments, awesome sound track, and this still unique character crossover that blend so amazingly well that it feels they've always been together.

One small complaint (actually the same only issue I have with RE2), the characters completely lack facial expression, and their eyes don't have any expression. The "acting" is very old style too, one character speaks, pause 2 seconds, then the next one speaks, another 2 seconds pause, then the discussion continues, and so on. It's a common issue with japanese productions, they still rely on game designers, instead of hiring people from the movie industry like US productions do to bring more dynamic. It doesn't bother me more than that, but the more it goes and the more visible the gap between game development schools starts to be visible.

Anyways, KH3 is an absolute must, go for it !

#100 5 years ago

And the curse goes on ! I had a day off today (planned for a while), and I was looking forward to a day playing KH3 while the kids are at school.
Turns out my daugther is sick (a cold nothing bad) and playing KH3 !

#104 5 years ago
Quoted from jorro:

I recently bought a playstation1
Not the remake, the real thing
It was looking so nice, like new!
Then i bought tekken 2, soulblade, whipeout and destruction derby
Oooh the nostalgia, im getting old huh
But it makes me smile

I have a jailbroken psp that I mostly use to play ps1 games. There are just so many games that aged perfectly well and the small screen of the psp makes old style 3d very watchable. You can get any Squaresoft game it’s a sure hit.

I finished Kingdom Hearts 3 this week end, and wow what a true masterpiece. I'm now finishing RE2 then I'll take a couple months to do a rerun of the entire Kingdom Hearts saga, I just love KH and this third one's ending leads me to believe that they're will be some new ones (which was the most exciting part of this ending !)

#110 5 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

Should be about time for some new Pinball Arcade and Zen Pinball tables shouldn’t it?

I haven’t touched a pinball video game since the one in Windows 95, space something. You’re right maybe I should give it another shot !

#124 5 years ago

Back to Resident Evil 2, quite a change of atmosphere from KH3 ! I finished Claire story, which was quite easy in the end, I finished the game with way more ammos than I could count for thanks to the pile of gunpowder that can be found everywhere. It's funny the same happens to me on every RE2, I spend the whole game counting ammos, I avoid killing as many zombies as I can and I never use anything but the standard handgun throughout the game. And when the end comes i realize I could have blasted all of them, and not spend 8 hours running away.

Now on to Chris' story, so far I find it much harder than Claire, more zombies, less ammos, and smaller pockets which is super annoying because he also has less item chests.

By the way, Capcom is releasing a free DLC tomorrow with 3 (yes free 3 !), new stories to play. I find it rare enough to get real playable dlc for free that it should be mentioned and even bragged about !

#126 5 years ago
Quoted from rooky79:

Does RE2 have a VR mode?

No, and according to Capcom officials it will never have one. I don't think VR would have suited that game well though.

#129 5 years ago
Quoted from rooky79:

Fair enough. I’ve had my PSVR packed away for quite some time now and decided to get it out and have a good crack on it. I never finished RE7 but my save game corrupted so I started from scratch and have been playing Rush of Blood, Accounting +, Farpoint with PS Aim and a few others. Forgot how much fun it is, but I just can never be bothered setting it up. Feels like it takes forever ha ha ha

Take a look at Ace Combat 7 I’ve heard tha VR mode is something.

#137 5 years ago
Quoted from Dano:

Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a try and I'll give Moss another shot as well. I'm really hoping the FF7 remake comes out sometime this century. It's my one must have title even if they break it up into multiple chapters/releases.

I wouldnt expect it before January 2022 after an official announcement at TGS 2021

As for standard PS4 games EDF! EDF! EDF! That's all I really need and the whole reason I bought my PS4 Pro. EDF5 was a literal system seller in my case (along with EDF 4.1....and EDF 4.1 Wing Diver....and the upcoming EDF: Iron Rain).

Another EDF fan, yay ! EDF is the most intense and satisfying blast game I’ve ever played !

Did anyone start playing Devil may cry 5. I am completely lost with the battle system (basically one button and jump) and dont understand how to get some decent combat ratings.
Any help appreciated

Advance apologies if this has been asked before.
I just bought a couple of new TVs (Samsung 75") and now when I play pinball on my PS4 and Switch I sometimes get what I would call ball flutter. The ball kind of flashes on occasion.
I checked the settings and the TV automatically changes to game mode whenever I turn on either system.
Any ideas?

Some Samsung requires a specific hdmi port labelled STB. Check if that’s the one you use.

Other option is to look into the video settings on your ps4 and the output resolution.
More infos here : https://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps4/settings/videooutput.html

Last is to check what firmware your ps4 is in there might be a known bug on it.

Played the new Modern Warfare all night last night and had a blast. Call of duty is back!

Im waiting for mine ! Haven’t touched a COD in years, they lost me on the way, but Im still a big fan of modern warfare, so really excited !

#176 4 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

I am really loving this game. The campaign and the multiplayer both are phenomenal. Let me know how you like it. They hit a home run with this COD here in my opinion.

I was about to, then PG&E shut down the electricity most likely for 48 hours this time.

#178 4 years ago

Last night reminded me how much I hate modern gaming. I sent the wife away, put the kids to bed early and was finally ready for a modern warfare night.

I put the disc in, 25 minutes install no big deal just enough time to make popcorns.

I launch the game, solo is grayed « needs full install », launch an update.... 9 hours download.

So long modern warfare night !

#180 4 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

Yeah it's a HUGE download but so worth it in my opinion. That does suck though, bet you were really disappointed.

I finally started it, and probably am close to finishing it. It's definitely brief, but wow it's super intense, and very satisfying. Every second of the campaign is worth playing, I'm back to being a big fan of Call of Duty !

It still has the usual plague of the series, mostly that you are walked by the hand during the whole campaign, there is always someone telling you where to go and what to do, while you can still hide and let your team mates do the job. It's the opposite of Wolfenstein that still tops my list of FPS but it's a great popcorn game. I like how the game doesn't feature super hero grade defense and forces you to be careful while going out to frag.

On the political side, it's an interesting mix of fictional and real events, I'm sure the Russians must be a bit pissed about it !

Who is in for Final Fantasy 7 remake ?
I got it yesterday, started playing it and basically kept going until this morning. I think the last time I got so hooked up to a game was the original FF7.
The game is simply extraordinary, it will probably appeal more to the people who played the original one. To me it feels like we got a prototype that took 20 years to be completed into the full vision.
The only drawback is the battle system, the new one is quite good although totally action, and very inspired by KH, but the announcement that there would be a classic battle system is not really met, it’s a weird mashup of auto battle and order an action once in a while.

#201 4 years ago
Quoted from V_piscopo:

With that said I am playing re3 remake and it was super short. (So was the original) but $60 is a lot for the playtime. I am replaying it now on a harder mode and will see how I feel after re playing.

I started RE3 last week when it arrived, it was the only RE I did once when it came out. And same feeling 10$ an hour of game is a rip off.

Quoted from WJxxxx:

Due to an ongoing/slow healing elbow injury I haven't been able to play pinball for the last few months - or even the next few probably. So with the money saved from all the cancelled tournaments, reduced socialising etc. I bought myself a PS4 to keep me entertained.
The last 2 consoles I owned were the Dreamcast and Wii, so it shows how long I've been out of the game!
I bought a few games to get started (in the order I've enjoyed them):
Sniper Elite 4 (since got SE2 & 3)
Unchartered 4 (since got the free downloads of 1-3)
COD (free download)
Red Dead Redemption 2
World of Warships (free Download)
GTA5
Crash Bandicoot
Fifa 20
Journey (free Download)
I've just about finished the majority of the solo objectives in UC & SE, haven't played much of RDR2 yet and about to launch into that fully.
A couple of points:
Feel free to add me (WWJPin) if you're interested in joining up for CoOp games, or even just to get in touch.
What games would you recommend as my next game purchase based on my preference for the UC & SE series?
I've looked at both the Hitman and Assassins Creed series - these look like a similar style game play / story wise.

Once you start RDR2, you're probably going to spend the next month it, that game is just plain awesome !

I would recommend getting The Last of Us remake, and The Last of Us 2 that's coming out tomorrow. Unlike most of us you won't have had to wait 7 years to get the next episode, and the game is a true masterpiece with intense action, beautiful story, a varied gameplay and a true survivor feeling that no other game in the genre, IMO, managed to bring to life that way.

#212 3 years ago
Quoted from loneacer:

I'm trying to get into RDR2 right now, but I'm just playing it about an hour a week. Not much is happening, no real fighting at all. I'm at the point where I just robbed the train.
The Last of Us had a great story, but I thought the game play was pretty lame. It was very linear and there wasn't much variety of enemies at all. It felt more like a great movie than a game. Days Gone had a similar emotional feel to it, but far superior game play.

Interesting, it's exactly at the train attack scene that RDR 2 climbed to my masterpiece rank.

If you want more action you can look into Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII remake. The 2 Resident Evil remakes are also worth a shot with a strong preference for RE2 who is more achieved.

#223 3 years ago
Quoted from FatPanda:

If you don't need a physical copy, the game will be downloadable on PSN on midnight Thursday night. I preordered mine from Amazon, so I'll be getting it Friday afternoon, when my usual mail comes.

You would probably get the digital version at the same time Friday if you start your download Thursday night !

#224 3 years ago
Quoted from loneacer:

Unless there's more than one train attack, nothing much really happens. You run to the front of the train, shoot maybe 5 guys along the way, and that's about it. The rest of your posse shoots everybody else. Visually it was great, but you don't have to do much but watch.

I agree, I've just always dreamt of attacking a train with my gang and that was totally it !

#226 3 years ago
Quoted from jayhawkai:

I bit the bullet and went digital, which I rarely do. Downloading now and should be playable in 2 hours, 20 minutes.

I don't think it will be playable right away. They allow early download but they will unlock it tomorrow.

#232 3 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

Who's getting a PS5 on launch day?

Me ! The version with the Blu Ray player, with the last wave of content edit, I'm definitely not trusting digital versions

#240 3 years ago

The curse of the day, my Amazon delivery is delayed, the truck had a problem.

I even took a nap this afternoon because I wanted to play TLOU2 all night !

#242 3 years ago

5 hours In TLOU2 and meh, I wasn't expecting complete revolution but it feels like playing a long DLC that cost 60$ and took 7 years to make.

Same action, same patterns, more talking, actually way more talking with long and slow conversations that have less impact than what used to be some real character and story building in the first episode.

I guess it's a payback from the first one where they explored everything that survivors could do in an apocalypse setting. Except going to Mars there wasn't much more to do.

Anyways I'll keep going, it's not unpleasant it's just slightly boring without much hooks to stay stuck to my chair.

#244 3 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

I love the clickers! Are they in this game?

Yep, that's all there is ! It's your lucky day

#246 3 years ago
Quoted from loneacer:

The reviews are pretty bad, but it's hard to tell how many of them are people just trashing it due to the gay characters. I had the collector's edition ordered, but I canceled it. I'm in no hurry, so I'll wait and see how cheap it gets by Black Friday.

I don't see how anyone would be surprised that Ellie is gay. Back when the first was released Naughty Dog already said that they chose Ellen Page as Ellie for a reason. They don't put it on the table with a lot of subtlety though, not that it matters much but it lessens the impact as if they had to put it somewhere because they said they would.

#248 3 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

Why do they feel the need to put in gay characters anyways? So dumb. I cant watch TV anymore because of this BS and now they are putting it into my video games too. No thanks

I'm not sure it's the right place to discuss that, but it's all about depicting reality. This is the world we live in, with diverse people happy to live the way they choose to. And it takes some efforts to make it become culturally acceptable, I'm thankful to Naughty Dog for that just the same way as was thankful for Gene Rodenberry back in the days who went against public opinion and his own producers to film the first inter racial kiss in TV history.

I was even happy that I could play a Jew in South Park !

#255 3 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

I just want to live in a world where people arent trying to force their agenda down my throat. I dont do that shit to people and I dont want anyone doing it to me. I just want to go home and play a non political or agenda driven video game or turn on a sporting even and not have to see a bunch of dumbasses kneeling during the national anthem and relax. Is that too much to ask for?

No it's not too much to ask. No one forced you to buy that game, there is a disclaimer on the back of the game for sexual content and tons of interviews of Naughty Dog executives about that.

I respect your opinion but I don't think it should set the standard for everyone else either.

#258 3 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

Did it actually say there's gay sex and transsexuals in this game? I didn't buy the game but I had planned on it since I liked the first one so much but I definitely wont be buying it now I can guarantee you that much. I just cant believe that a company would be so idiotic with such a hot hot selling title.

There is nothing new there, Ellie already kissed a girl in the first episode DLC called Left behind. That was 6 years ago.

TLOU2 just got the record of the fastest selling video game in history, so I don't think people mind much or there aren't that many people that actually care.

#264 3 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

No doubt oldskool. Everyone is soft and looking for reasons to be offended these days. There are still some good younger people out there but they are few and far between these days let me tell ya. There are some though for sure.

Good, bad, I guess it's all a matter of perspective

#274 3 years ago
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

No, having an ignorant view on something is a disgrace.
If you need a quick way to figure out if a statement you are about to make about any group is not great, you can substitute in a race like "black".
For example, you saying "why do they feel the need to put in black characters" comes off pretty terrible. It's no different for saying that about any other discriminated group.
You can do better who-dey, I know you can.

Except that racism is not a religious belief.

#276 3 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

Racism was never what I was talking about so please don't go there because that is something that I am not.

I wasn't answering you, I was answering wolfmarsh .

#280 3 years ago

Ok back to talking about TLOU2.

I'm starting to get what annoys me the list in the game.

Ellie is actually stronger than Joel was, she can kill zombies bare hands, her knife never brakes so she is never helpless againt clickers, and her sidekick can shoot and sometimes kill too.

And that is what kills the intensity of the action scenes and takes away a big part of what I enjoyed in the first one.

#283 3 years ago
Quoted from timtim:

All I know is resident evil VIIIage better be in freaking vr. I'll buy a ps5 day one in preparation.

I love the RE games but I didnt like the shift to first person view.
I would recommend playing both Evil Within games who were done by Shinji Mikami after he left Capcom (who In turn never recovered from it)

3 weeks later
#286 3 years ago

I've finished the Last of Us 2, I'm happy I did, the history was satisfying although predictable, but I will never replay that game again. The game is plagued by a horribly repetitive gameplay of looting, the 1st already had that problem but it had less looting and more fighting, especially zombie fighting which was very pleasant.
The 2 has more human fights, I don't think LTOU 2 gameplay has enough depth to bring these encounters to an enjoyable level, the ennemies are dumb, the shooting choices limited, and there is much better out here when it comes to TPS. Same with the infiltration part other games do that far better.

I don't regret the 24 hours I spent but I am happy they didn't drag the game for 20 hours more, the end part already felt like it was too long, but I do hope Naughty Dog considers more variety in gameplay for their future productions

I got in the hype and pre ordered a ps, the disc version. Then I figured I should get some games and found nothing of interest to buy, so it will be my first game less system since I got into gaming.

I don't recall any day 1 launch being so thin in games, it looks like Sony didn't deliver the sdk in time to allow developers to make games.

Quoted from Who-Dey:

That wont work on a PS5, its gotta be a SSD hard drive. Seems like they are about $169.00 for a 1TB.

SSD and pcie4, that brings the price up to 200 for now but it will go down as always.

But this is only an additional drive. The system hdd is soldered on the main board and won't be easy to replace that's where I'm more concerned.

#372 3 years ago

Mine ended up arriving last night, I haven't played it much though, my son hasn't given me the pad yet. I got Spiderman and Sackboy, mostly for him as I have no interest in these games.

The new gamepad is incredibly smooth and precise, really a step forward there. From a pure graphic perspective, the games are surely not optimized for the PS5 yet so they look more like PS4 Pro, with a much better rendering of shadows and lights but at this point it's clearly not the same jump in quality than it was moving from PS3 to PS4

#374 3 years ago
Quoted from Darscot:

The controller is the one thing that most shocked me about Microsoft this generation. The Xbox hardcore have always felt that controller was superior, it was like the one thing they were hanging on too. It’s like Microsoft has just accepted they can’t compete and are only focusing on their base. Sony is just going to continue to dominate the market.

I also have an Xbox One, the one thing they got right, and I must say I still don't get why Sony didn't swap the joysticks, is that the left analog stick is aligned with the buttons.

Nowadays there aren't many games that still uses the D-Pad, so it makes more sense to have the analog left stick as the main one, and use the D Pad below to access secondary function. Although having the 2 analog pads aligned on the PS Stick also makes a lot of sense, but in my opinion only for FPS games where moving and aiming at once becomes critical

I will likely end up being an Xbox S at some points, Microsoft is in a big shopping spree after their move on Bethesda, so it will go back to the good old war of exclusive titles, and some of the MS titles are definitely on my radar. The cheap one at 299 should do a fine job, not too bad price wise actually.

#378 3 years ago

Well I just got my Xbox one series x from eBay , turned out to be a Box of cleaning supplies never had fraud happen before

Ebay is the last place on earth where I buy anything, way too much fraud. I hope you paid with PayPal and can get a refund

I tried Astro play room while waiting for COD to load, it shows everything that the new gamepad can do and wow it does a lot.

The triggers can send feedback or even lock, it's the closest a gamepad ever got to an analog throttle, it's very impressive.

#397 3 years ago
Quoted from Oneangrymo:

Ok my ps5 came it’s the ugliest game console I have ever had and I have had them all

Yep it's impressive how ugly this one is.

But with this fantastic controller in hands I totally forgive them !

#399 3 years ago
Quoted from beelzeboob:

For you guys that have the PS5/Xbox, can you lie the unit on its side, or so they have to be standing up? I'm getting both after Christmas so I have to figure out how to rearrange my shelving unit.

The ps5 can lay flat but only on the stand they provide. It's really wide though, mine doesn't fit in the shelves either way, and that's because of these white plastic covers that don't look necessary.

#406 3 years ago

So reviewers were right, the hard drive on the ps5 wont store many games.
It wouldn't bother me if the games were just installed from the disk but so far all of them take 6 hours of download, and having to prepare ahead of time for what game you're gonna want to play isn't viable.

It's quite annoying actually I do miss the good old days of simply starting a game with the push of a button.

#409 3 years ago
Quoted from Darscot:

You will be able to fit every game available at launch about 390GB and still have 280GB available. You can easily fit 6 landmark blockbuster 100GB titles on the drive at once. Games like that only come out every few months and how many games do you play at the same time. If you want to install games from disk get the version with the optical drive. The Xbox you can use an external drive for temporary storage, but still need to copy it over to play the game. Sony just doesn't want to take the piracy risk.

I have the version with the drive, there hasn't been one game so far that hasn't required a 100gb download.

#414 3 years ago
Quoted from seenev:

Trying to get a ps5 has been such a frustrating process that I think I'm just going to wait until there's a ps5 slim in a few years and let my ps plus account lapse. I rarely use it and I'll let withholding my $60 a year subscription fee be my protest.

I got one day 1 but truth is I haven't played it much because there isn't much to play. So I don't think it's worth rushing until the second wave of games comes out

#418 3 years ago
Quoted from Oneangrymo:

Luckily I got my ps5 from eBay and not from a con artist , yes it cost me 200.00 more then retail but that price was worth it to me for the hassle of finding one and no way I’m camping in some stupid line , rather work and make money then sit around idle

You got half scalped, 200$ isn't too bad. A lot of them sell them for double or triple the price.

As silly as POTC LE's selling for $15K or R&M pre-order spots selling for $5K? This hobby is just as guilty of scalping as any other one.

No, not really. These 2 pinballs have limited numbers. Even TBL has hit a more reasonable price point now that production seems to be more steady. There will be an endless supply of PlayStation 5, people are just willing to pay a premium to get one quickly.

Quoted from loneacer:

It doesn't bother me too much. People with more money than time can pay up to get one. People with more time than money can sit on their PC all day clicking refresh to get one at retail.
The first model of a new generation is always rushed and often has bugs. I wait a year or two until the price (and console size) comes down and the processing power and memory go up.

They don't sit on their PC clicking refresh, they have bots that do the job for them, check for when the item comes in stock and can buy piles of units within seconds. It's a whole industry, some developers sell the bots, then scalpers just need to install it, set the url and they are good to go.

So how is everyone enjoying the PS5? Still on PS4 here, but probably will snag a PS5 in a few months.

I haven't played it in a couple months now, there is just nothing to play on it, I don't think there's any need to rush on getting one, especially at scalpers price.

I barely played that GOW, it was a big disappointment but unfortunately with how well it sold I doubt the game will ever go back to it's bta roots.

Quoted from FatPanda:

Sorry gonna have to strongly disagree with you there! It's better in every way from the original franchise (imo of course )
To each their own, but PS4 GoW blows every other story driven single player experience out of the water. It hits it in every aspect, from visuals to gameplay to narrative, to acting quality. There are no slow areas, no filler areas, nothing.
TLOU I and II both had strong narratives, but there were flaws in gameplay mechanics, some clunkiness.
Tsushima had strong narrative too, but too open imo, lots of fetch quests, lots of menial tasks (finding the foxes, all the hats, all the scabbards etc) that don't really add to gameplay, just "stuff to do"
Horizon is up there also with strong narrative, visuals, and great gameplay, but again, lots of menial, unimportant things that you could do but end up skipping out because it would be the umpteenth time you collect a thing (like Tsushima). Some people love this, for me, it's just filler. I could do without it.
GoW has a more linear path compared to the others that never lets up and the gameplay, though challenging, is fair. I never felt like it was cheap. Don't get me wrong, the others that I've mentioned are great games by all means, but each of them had a "flaw" that I could have done without. GoW didn't have any of that! Can't wait for Ragnarok to get released!

Yeah that's all right, I know I'm in the small club of original GOW lovers ! The reason why I didn't like PS4 GOW is exactly everything that makes you like it. I enjoyed the brain less mass brawling against gigantic ennemies, but the OG series did hit a low with Ascension where you could tell the rope was getting to used. And after defeating Zeus, I guess there wasn't much more for Kratos to destroy the good old barbaric way !

Quoted from Phbooms:

Try "it takes two" or 'sackboy" with your little man on PS5. My 6yr old loved them both.

My 7yr old and I are totally into Ratchet and Clank right now, it's not a coop game, but it's so visually stunning that we both enjoy watching each other play. IMO this is the game that shows the true potential of the PS5, the loading times are non existent which actually adds to the gameplay as Ratchet moves between dimensions without any interruption, the gameplay is fun, it's closer to a Pixar movie than a video game has ever been. I've never been a big fan of the series but this time they really nailed it.

I got Yakuza like a Dragon, I only took it because I had nothing else to play and it was on sale.

Now I'm going to buy every over Yakuza game, I totally got sucked into it. The story is captivting, the game has everything I like about Japanese twisted humor and there's a ton of things to do, piles of mini games, a bunch of Sega arcade emulated games, it's just non stop fun.

Highly recommended !

I agree with him. I have a switch, ps5, and series X, and clearly of the 3 Nintendo is the one whose games are basically recycled gamecube games. That doesn't mean that they're not fun and that they're not good, just that they're not really trying that hard relatively. It's hard for me, as someone who owned a ps2, xbox, and gamecube almost 20 years ago, to say that Nintendo's trying when the ps2 to ps5 is a massive jump, the xbox to the series x is a massive jump, but then when you look at what was on the Gamecube compared to the Switch and their games really haven't gone anywhere.

Nintendo makes great games that's all what matters to me. They are also avoiding expensive project Ms can remain independent and still deliver boat loads of fantastic games without ever compromising quality.

I also enjoy the visually stunning AAA games on my PS5, but they leave a short trace in my memory, where I will never forget the thrill of every minute of each of my Zelda adventures.

I've always been intrigued by the Yakuza series, but thought it was too much like GTA, and I was over GTA at that time. I'm probably completely wrong lol. Do you have to play the other games in order to jump in with the latest?

Like a dragon seems to be a parallel story. It's also a bit different from the others. The others have some bta ingredients, this one is more rpg with a turned based battle system.

I will say, as an avid Xbox fan through the years, I'm having more fun on the PS5 than with the Series X. Love the haptic feedback controllers, and the PS5 games are absolutely gorgeous (as is the Ghosts of Tsushima Director's Cut). Just picked up Sackboy to have fun with this weekend, and I've decided to get the COD on PS5 just because of the controller sounds and vibrations. I've never done that before on a cross-platform game.
It could be I'm changing teams...

COD on the PS5 with haptic feedback definitely brings the game to a whole new level.

Anyone done the Forbidden West PS4 upgrade? Is it worth it or should I just spend the extra 10 bucks for the PS5 version?

The loading times are probably much faster on the PS5, the game also makes good use of the haptic feedback on the PS5 controllers. I think it's worth the 10$

Quoted from plovis:

Oh, I'm not debating on playing it on PS4 or 5, its definitely gonna be PS5. Just wondering if there was anything you lose by doing the upgrade instead of just buying the PS5 version straight up and what I'm hearing is that there is not. Appreciate it.

Oh I see, I had no idea there was that upgrade deal, definitely a good deal then !

GT7 is an absolute masterpiece, definitely the ulitmate car game, not just the races, it's also a car history bible, with a compelling way to get you to want to learn everything about car history.
The game is stunningly beautiful, the level of settings for the cars is unseen but more than anything else every single change is noticeable on the tracks.

Truly a class of its own

I have a Xbox Series S and gamepass and I hardly touch it. Kind of a waste of money at this point as I am only playing my PS5. I will play my Series S a few times a month to play Halo with my brother in laws online. That is about it sadly. I do appreciate being able to check out games on gamepass but there have been very few to hold my attention. Couple that with the fact that I much prefer the feel of a PS controller to Xbox. I know I am probably in the minority there though.

Same, I never liked the Xbox controller, so I always bought the ps version of the multi platform games.
I bought a One to play Dead Rising 3 when it was exclusive, then got and enjoyed Gears and Halo and that was literally it

I haven't bought an X yet, I might depending on when and if Bethesda games become exclusive or if there a good Gears that comes out. But Xbox exclusive are no match for Sony exclusive games IMO

Has anyone played Evil Within 2? It's been out for years, but I just decided to give it a go. It's a pretty fun survival horror game!

I've finished it twice, It didn't feel as pressured as in the first one, probably because of the "open world" structure that allows to run away from zombies without taking any risk but still a very entertaining game with a good load of action.

I played Gotham Knights...it was nice being back in the Gotham City universe... I really liked the Arkham games back in the day, but this game isn't as deep honestly, or have all the crazy side missions that Arkham Knight had.
Also started playing Calisto Protocol...it's a sort of space horror shooter game. It's very hard honestly, kind of surprised....not my usual sort of game, but it's interesting.

I gave up on Gotham Knight, it's a Batman game without Batman and any of his great skills that made them so much fun to play. There's really not much to do and exploring Gotham with that motorcycle is painfully tedious.
