Quoted from V_piscopo:

With that said I am playing re3 remake and it was super short. (So was the original) but $60 is a lot for the playtime. I am replaying it now on a harder mode and will see how I feel after re playing.

I started RE3 last week when it arrived, it was the only RE I did once when it came out. And same feeling 10$ an hour of game is a rip off.

Dreams is all I play now.

I have wreckfest and need to play it some more. I am also slightly interested in this maybe, what do you think? Its also online co op.

#205 75 days ago

Been having a blast with FF7 remake after pre-ordering back in 2016. The wife and daughter have watched all 40hrs for the most part and have been extremely engaged in the whole story. That's extremely rare especially for my 16 year old.

Guys for anyone interested SnowRunner is a really fun game!

1 month later
#207 21 days ago

Due to an ongoing/slow healing elbow injury I haven't been able to play pinball for the last few months - or even the next few probably. So with the money saved from all the cancelled tournaments, reduced socialising etc. I bought myself a PS4 to keep me entertained.

The last 2 consoles I owned were the Dreamcast and Wii, so it shows how long I've been out of the game!

I bought a few games to get started (in the order I've enjoyed them):

Sniper Elite 4 (since got SE2 & 3)
Unchartered 4 (since got the free downloads of 1-3)
COD (free download)
Red Dead Redemption 2
World of Warships (free Download)
GTA5
Crash Bandicoot
Fifa 20
Journey (free Download)

I've just about finished the majority of the solo objectives in UC & SE, haven't played much of RDR2 yet and about to launch into that fully.

A couple of points:

Feel free to add me (WWJPin) if you're interested in joining up for CoOp games, or even just to get in touch.

What games would you recommend as my next game purchase based on my preference for the UC & SE series?
I've looked at both the Hitman and Assassins Creed series - these look like a similar style game play / story wise.

#208 21 days ago

You have to buy God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn. Great choice with the Uncharted series as well. I'm a big fan of Ratchet and Clank for just some really fun gaming. I am also a big fan of the Final Fantasy series, Bloodstained for some classic Metroidvania action, and I really enjoyed playing Diablo 3 both solo and with my daughter (couch co-ops are unfortunately so rare now).

Once you start RDR2, you're probably going to spend the next month it, that game is just plain awesome !

I would recommend getting The Last of Us remake, and The Last of Us 2 that's coming out tomorrow. Unlike most of us you won't have had to wait 7 years to get the next episode, and the game is a true masterpiece with intense action, beautiful story, a varied gameplay and a true survivor feeling that no other game in the genre, IMO, managed to bring to life that way.

I haven't been an avid gamer since Atari and Classic NES, but I play occasionally. I had a PS2 and an XBox 360, but bought only maybe 5 games for each. Ditto with the PS4. Horizon Zero Dawn may be the best game I've ever played. I've played it completely through 3 times so far. I've played the ending sequence through about 10 times. With it *beat*, I still run around and fight enemies sometimes, although there's no point to it since all the missions have been completed. They just announced a sequel for PS5. I usually don't buy a new system until it's been out a couple years, but I might need the PS5 at launch for that game alone.

I'm trying to get into RDR2 right now, but I'm just playing it about an hour a week. Not much is happening, no real fighting at all. I'm at the point where I just robbed the train.

The Last of Us had a great story, but I thought the game play was pretty lame. It was very linear and there wasn't much variety of enemies at all. It felt more like a great movie than a game. Days Gone had a similar emotional feel to it, but far superior game play.

Interesting, it's exactly at the train attack scene that RDR 2 climbed to my masterpiece rank.

If you want more action you can look into Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII remake. The 2 Resident Evil remakes are also worth a shot with a strong preference for RE2 who is more achieved.

Last of Us 2 coming out tomorrow. The first one was probably the best game I ever played. IGN gave this one a 10 already.

Some good games you have been playing there. I like RDR2 a lot, going to get back into that again soon. So many good games and so little time to play them.

#215 21 days ago

like others have said, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, and I'll add Spider-Man. All EXCELLENT games and worth it for the PS4 alone. I'm looking forward to what the PS5 brings us. Horizon is getting a sequel, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales is getting a release.

Just finished FF7R and it was ok. Prior to that, I had finished Horizon, so the bar was set high. CANNOT wait to dig into Last of Us 2 over the weekend!!!!

Any stores doing a midnight release of TLOU2?

If you don't need a physical copy, the game will be downloadable on PSN on midnight Thursday night. I preordered mine from Amazon, so I'll be getting it Friday afternoon, when my usual mail comes.

Did anyone else get choked up when the lead characters daughter got shot and died? I have never had another video game do that to me.

I started up the Remastered version on PS4 last night to get prepped for Part 2....man oh man, I was full out ugly crying! I have a daughter that turns 7 soon, and could totally relate.

No, but the final scene of HZD gets me a little teary every time.

Unless there's more than one train attack, nothing much really happens. You run to the front of the train, shoot maybe 5 guys along the way, and that's about it. The rest of your posse shoots everybody else. Visually it was great, but you don't have to do much but watch.

The part when Elle is in the town in a blizzard and all you have is a knife was the most intense thing ever. The end when you have to rescue her is so fulfilling also. You actually start feeling like she is your daughter.

You would probably get the digital version at the same time Friday if you start your download Thursday night !

I agree, I've just always dreamt of attacking a train with my gang and that was totally it !

I bit the bullet and went digital, which I rarely do. Downloading now and should be playable in 2 hours, 20 minutes.

I don't think it will be playable right away. They allow early download but they will unlock it tomorrow.

Who's getting a PS5 on launch day?

11pm central. Those west coasters are lucky.

I'll be preordering one and the XSX when they're listed, but that's just out of habit. None of the launch titles announced outside of Halo Infinite do anything for me.

Me ! The version with the Blu Ray player, with the last wave of content edit, I'm definitely not trusting digital versions

Getting PS5 and Xbox Series X as soon as they are available , I once thought those were big expenses and would choose one and get the other much later, then I got into pinball and now a new Xbox or Playstation don't seem as expensive anymore

#234 20 days ago

Damn TLOU2 is masterclass, as someone in the industry I don’t impress easily but it is incredible. Hats of to the wizards at Naughty Dog.

#235 20 days ago
Quoted from FatPanda:

God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, and I'll add Spider-Man.

Yet another vote for these. All amazing. Just finished God of War and the GD Valkyrie Queen is nearly the first boss fight that cost me a TV.

Last of Us remains one of the most incredible game playing experiences I've ever had. I've played the intro for friends of mine that aren't into games and it always gets a reaction.

I finally gave up on that queen. Beat pretty much everything else in the game. Failed her around 100 times, put the game in the case, and sold it. Might be the only thing in a game I've tried to beat and failed ever.

That and the crazy boss at the end of Octopath Traveler were just too ridiculous for me, and I didn't beat them. Fortunately they aren't crucial to completing the game/story.

As far as PS5 goes, I'll be really interested when the HZD, GoW and/or Spider-Man sequels are available, but likely not a first-day buy for me.

I may not be buying a PS5 at release either. I cant decide yet. No launch games that I consider a must have really so I may wait possibly

The curse of the day, my Amazon delivery is delayed, the truck had a problem.

I even took a nap this afternoon because I wanted to play TLOU2 all night !

#241 20 days ago

I'll be getting both the xbox series x and ps5 at launch probably. Horizon was amazing, Spiderman and God of War were really good. Persona 5 is also really good but I dislike their save system which dampered my enjoyment of it quite a bit.

Uncharted 4 wasn't that great in my opinion. I loved 1 and 2, 3 started slipping and 4 just wasn't great.

Tried playing the last of us but I don't really enjoy games with jump scares/creeping around as I play a lot on the elliptical and that really messes with you on there, lol.

Probably be like last gen, I'll buy all the ps5 exclusives there and buy everything else on the xbox (if I buy much else, game pass cut down my expenditures like 75% I think). Horizon was probably my favorite game last generation outside of the Witcher 3.

5 hours In TLOU2 and meh, I wasn't expecting complete revolution but it feels like playing a long DLC that cost 60$ and took 7 years to make.

Same action, same patterns, more talking, actually way more talking with long and slow conversations that have less impact than what used to be some real character and story building in the first episode.

I guess it's a payback from the first one where they explored everything that survivors could do in an apocalypse setting. Except going to Mars there wasn't much more to do.

Anyways I'll keep going, it's not unpleasant it's just slightly boring without much hooks to stay stuck to my chair.

The reviews are pretty bad, but it's hard to tell how many of them are people just trashing it due to the gay characters. I had the collector's edition ordered, but I canceled it. I'm in no hurry, so I'll wait and see how cheap it gets by Black Friday.

I don't see how anyone would be surprised that Ellie is gay. Back when the first was released Naughty Dog already said that they chose Ellen Page as Ellie for a reason. They don't put it on the table with a lot of subtlety though, not that it matters much but it lessens the impact as if they had to put it somewhere because they said they would.

#247 18 days ago

Why do they feel the need to put in gay characters anyways? So dumb. I cant watch TV anymore because of this BS and now they are putting it into my video games too. No thanks

I'm not sure it's the right place to discuss that, but it's all about depicting reality. This is the world we live in, with diverse people happy to live the way they choose to. And it takes some efforts to make it become culturally acceptable, I'm thankful to Naughty Dog for that just the same way as was thankful for Gene Rodenberry back in the days who went against public opinion and his own producers to film the first inter racial kiss in TV history.

I was even happy that I could play a Jew in South Park !

I'm not against it, people are free to be whatever they want to be but I'm tired of having it shoved down my throat constantly is all. I'm not really mad about it, I just think its stupid. It's not normal and its never going to be normal and it also goes against what the bible says so I just wish people would stop trying to make me accept it as being normal is all.

I know it sounds like I'm ranting but I'm honestly not, just tired of all the bullshit. I play video games to relax and have fun. I dont need or want politics and other things in my video games. Now I see why everyone is mad about this game.
