Quoted from Aurich:

Hey, give it up for Spooky Pinball! Made a game with no drama, are shipping it to people, and the owners love it.
When was the last time you saw a "BEN HECK WHERE IS THE CODE?" thread?

To be fair though, he IS working on it after original release, just like Stern. Stern just shovels games out the door faster so there are more in the wild to update after the fact.

Quoted from rai:

I'd be shocked if Predator cost a fraction of $1 Million to develope.
Some guy built a Ghostbusters pin in his basement, are you telling me he spent $1M to develope that LOL that's such a laugh.

Stern counts man hours spent at a going market rate. Wonder what Kevin would be up to cost wise if he total up his hours and multiplied by a reasonable wage.

Quoted from Whysnow:

the ONLY parts IP related are pfs and the decals on the 10 cabs

And all the video clips on the DMD? Audio?

Quoted from iceman44:

$4750 isn't viable, accept it

Quoted from Whysnow:

It actually is extremely viable even when other designers have said otherwise.

When I had CCC at expo in the booth right next to Kevin & Predator two expos back, I heard him say "It costs me 4 grand every time I build one of these things". That's without paying someone else to build them.

Who wants to lay odds on Stern picking up the actual Predator license now that this whole kerfuffle proved interest in the game? heh!

Quoted from blondetall:

But the constant bashing and blatant piling-on of how awful the Predator game was by you since the project failed has rubbed me the wrong way as completely unprofessional. It reeks of a bitter rival gloating that the competition failed and rubbing it in the faces of buyers to prove that they backed the wrong machine.

He's not wrong. I'm pretty surprised anyone still wanted it after playing it at any of the shows it was actually working at.

Different strokes, I guess.

Quoted from Hawkeyepin:

What a dramatic, epic disaster. This is the worst side of what's supposed to be a fun hobby. I think this topic should be locked and closed for good. It serves no useful purpose.

You don't think venting is a useful purpose? It's like ... therapy.

Perhaps parts from early versions Hilton is talking about were re-used on updated versions as it evolved during development/show touring.

Quoted from the_one:

I do quite often thinking about what happend if the known guys didn't contact the licence holder (FOX) and whistleblow that a Predator pin might come to production state and that they guess there isn't any licence. Do you think we all would play our Predator at home today?

Not likely. Kevin didn't really have the resources/abilities to build 250 games. If anything, the licensing issues just brought about the end more quickly.
