reporter: "living there was almost a death sentence"
Favorite part was G'ma opening the small door on the trailer and looking scared of what she saw in it. Probably all the court summons' that "never showed up". Also it just dawned on me that the Predator Pinball saga was in question until the Mythbusters showed up..."in the case of the license we find this BUSTED!"Untitled (resized).jpg
I love how this entire courtcase is about Kevin selling false goods and keeping money, but we haven't heard from him in what 4-5 MONTHS? Kevin's mom goes to court, wife takes her. House is flooded and furniture needs to be moved outside and the inside needs to be evaluated whether it can be saved, Amanda is taking care of it while I'm assuming Kevin is babysitting kids in a hotel room.

I'm sure the family reached out to the media.....we need help with handouts. What really bothers me, those kids have a horrible excuse for a father. Con artist, liar, bum who refuses to get a job to provide for his family.
Quoted from Stones:What really bothers me, those kids have a horrible excuse for a father.
Don't forget, one of the 5 fathers is a "pinball champion, known around the world".
That was testified under oath.

"Beat the Sharpe kids...."
Coming soon:Predator 2.0 LE for (uh, how much do we need for a new house? divide that by #of machines we'll claim to build).
The wnem story page has a couple comments.
News reporter thinks she's getting a nice, heart breaking fluff story. This story could age her 50years. Do yourself a favor and stay away!
It's toxic.
Unless she's a real killer queen detective type that wants a huge story.
The comments are great below the story.
I'm sure all their neighbors are like "Really?? People sent THEM millions of dollars to build a pinball machine????
I lent them my Comcast remote so they could test their cable box and never got it back....."
Seems it is on the station *Facebook page* website as well:

I feel bad for the kids. Lost are toys and clothes and upheaval from their normal home life. But how did the station find out about this is the question I have.

She is listed as the producer not the reporter.

It's a local station. Maybe someone in the Kulek circle knows the reporter.

^^^This^^^. What a pathetic group of losers.
This may have been said before, but the more I think about this the more I believe they were hoping, maybe even planning for this to happen.
Buy a home in a flood plain for cheap.
Wait for the inevitable flood to happen.
Suck up all the assistance, charity and donations they can.
Claim "All is lost, We have nothing. Records, receipts, everything gone!"
Then again, maybe I'm giving them to much credit for thinking ahead.
Quoted from Jvspin:She is listed as the producer not the reporter.
I wonder if the Producer would be interested in the REAL story?
If well done, it could get picked up nationally

It flooded last year too
If there is a real need for shelter and clothing (particularly for the kids), the Kulek's should still have access to it, even if it comes from other people that don't know about the on-going proceedings. It was probably going to go to Goodwill anyway. I think some of the comments are harsh, but I understand where the anger comes from. Let the slow wheels of justice turn.
Imagine if all those Predator games were being made there at that house. They would all be ruined as well... If these people were stupid enough to buy a house in a KNOWN flood zone that happens each year then they had it coming to them. What did they think, it wont happen to them?? I'm sorry but these people don't even deserve the oxygen there breathing and I have no sympathy for them what so ever. And who's paying for motel and how ??

OK. It's hard to remember all the facts of this story. Was the flood as severe as this one though? Seems like a great opportunity for them to fleece more people.

The Red Cross is set up in MI to help people who got flooded with lodging, food and bottled water.
It's in the companion article on the same page.
"The Michigan Red Cross was able to set up everything at the high school in about an hour, according to John Fouts, who does logistics work for the Michigan Red Cross.
"Including event-based volunteers, we had about 10 volunteers here last night," he said. "We had 12 people registered (last night), but we will probably double that tonight."
Nurses, mental health experts, mass care and logistics are all on site to service each shelter.

Easier to arrange a fire than a flood.
Two businessmen had both gone to the same lawyer for help in settling insurance claims. While they were waiting, they struck up a conversation, and each learned that the other's business had also been destroyed.
"So, how'd it happen to you?" asked the first businessman.
"Fire. Destroyed everything. What happened to your business?"
"Flood", replied the first businessman.
"Really? How do you arrange a flood?"
Quoted from Jvspin:It's a local station. Maybe someone in the Kulek circle knows the reporter.
Possibly, but more then likely Amanda called them herself. "Take pity on me and my family....send us money because we can't seem to find the Predator money we stole and had hidden in the back yard."
John
Incidentally, when I was still in elementary school there was an old bowling alley a few blocks from our house whose business went downhill when a new and much nicer one opened a couple miles away.
The "old" bowling alley caught on fire on three separate occasions (within the same year) before it finally burned down. One of the first "adult topics" I remember adults from the neighborhood talking and laughing about at the annual 4th of July picnic that year. My dad still gets a kick out of telling that story when people mention failed businesses and insurance fraud.

I believe this too......we will go to the media for handouts....
Be tactful in the way you leave comments. Misfortune has befallen a family with lots of kids. Avoidable misfortune, yes, to ill-gotten property, yes, but misfortune nonetheless. The public knows the flood story, not the fraud. Over the top comments, regardless of the merit, can help make the kulek clan the victims they want to be in the public eye
LOL....I just read the Facebook comments that people are leaving. I LOVE IT!! Anything to bring it to the public eyes and hopefully the news station will do another story on them probing into what people like us have known for years. Keep those comments on Facebook coming.
John

But when you factor in the part about them scamming the public with the welfare as well I don't think many people will feel sympathetic. Do you?
John
Quoted from c508:"Really? How do you arrange a flood?"
Just move into a Flood-Medow that floods yearly. Saves money on matches.
Quoted from Dayhuff:But when you factor in the part about them scamming the public with the welfare as well I don't think many people will feel sympathetic. Do you?
John
People are always sympathetic to children...unless you're a shitbag.
I think they deliberately bought Flood House as a get out of jail free card, plus might get a few million in compensation. What they are doing currently (FB posts and reaching out to journalists) supports this hypothesis. Utterly despicable if true. A Hillbilly Investment plan.
Quoted from Dayhuff:But when you factor in the part about them scamming the public with the welfare as well I don't think many people will feel sympathetic. Do you?
John
I think they'll see it as crazy pinball nerds attacking a poor family that just lost everything. Optics matter more than truth. Not saying don't comment, just saying be mindful of your audience's likely biases and craft your message accordingly to maximize effectiveness
if we assume they never actually intended to make the machines,
perhaps they bought this house in the flood plan to say once it flooded that everything was ruined in the basement shop and couldnt refund people? but never actually tried to make games so they just kept the money and could move later, under the radar?
but shit hit the fan before the first time it flooded them so they did not get to do that?
maybe. who knows

Quoted from Nibbles:I love how the mom replied
Someone might want to point out to her that the judge has not ruled yet in the case.
Quoted from dkazz1:Actually, banks will lend money to property like this. They simply require that if the property is in a floodplain, they require flood insurance up to the value of the loan and property/liability coverage that does the same(the property/liability coverage is required on all property with bank loans/mortgages on it). Banks don't mind borrowing the money, they just make sure they are first in line to recover any money they borrowed in order to recoup their investment.
Banks lend money to consumers, not borrow it.
You do all realize that the post purposely insinuates something nefarious with the comment, "posting pictures of children to an adult site", don't you?
As to the rest...I'd compare against the court testimony because that sounds different to me.
What world is Kathy living in? The judge let you have the trailer because it's not worth the time trying to prove who paid the $250 (especially now since it's likely worthless). According to the testimony I heard, Keith didn't lose the house. It's my understanding it's in the process of granting $30k ($5k less than appraisal for the sake of quick sale). Good thing they got that appraisal done before the flood.
Quoted from investingdad:Did the judge order pictures to be removed as the comment states?
No, he doesn't have that jurisdiction. Keith in his kindness offered to contact a moderator to have that image removed (which is why I reposted an edited version removing the faces of the kids so the evidence can stand that Kevin is buying arcade games when he's supposedly broke).
