Quoted from rotordave:

Decided to watch all the Paul Thomas Anderson movies, in order, 7 nights in a row. As you do.
Most of you will be familiar with most of them...
1996 Hard Eight
1997 Boogie Nights
1999 Magnolia
2002 Punch-Drunk Love
2007 There Will Be Blood
2012 The Master
2014 Inherent Vice
2017 Phantom Thread
What is interesting about them - they're all very different. No two themes are the same.
The one thread that carries through all the movies is people with flawed characters.
I had seen some of them, but not all of them.
Boogie Nights is one of my favorite movies ever Great story, great characters ... and a great big dong. lol
Hard Eight was a pleasant surprise - we enjoyed that one.
Magnolia is probably a bit too long ... the Mrs was moaning at that one. "is that the frog movie?" she asked beforehand .. "it never ends!" she said afterward. lol
The Master seemed sorta pointless on first viewing. Evidently based on L Ron Hubbard, it could have been better if they'd gone more that way, IMO.
Inherent Vice I enjoyed much more this time around - goes to show, you have to be "in the mood" for movies - first time out on it's release, I thought it was boring. Not so, on the second viewing.
The wifes favorite was Phantom Thread, set in England in the 60s (dating it by the cars used)
Looking forward to the next one, Licorice Pizza - due to come out soon.

I can’t really think of any better acting or movie character then Daniel Day Lewis as Oil Magnate Daniel Plainview in there will be blood. That movie is just incredible.
