Quoted from RA77:Top effort man, Excellent choice of tracks !

Thanks Bro. Not sure if really considered heavy metal, but just finished my first version of a Rush orchesration for Doctor Who. Check out the sample video below:
Nothing beats Sabbath IMO, but for a younger band that sounds just like Sabbath (probably not undeliberately), Orchid is excellent. Indeed, it's like finding some new Sabbath albums
Another US band I have much time for is Boudain:
Then there's Royal Blood, and I'll shut up now
Full Testament set from Hellfest.
If you didn’t know, ARTEtv show most of the huge European metal festivals live on TV and on the net. Last year I watched most of Wacken live from my sofa. Nice!
Search the ARTEtv channel and you’ll see all the Hellfest stuff from Slayer, Anthrax, COF, LOG, etc etc.

Quoted from mof:LOL where did u find this ??? 1984 cheesiness at its best.
Oh sweet Lee was big in '84 especially in Toronto. I was only 10 at the time but the video helped alot.
Tanith.
Somewhere smack dab between Styx, Thin Lizzy, and 70's sweet mellow goodness.
The lead singer/lead guitar is 56 and was in Satan in 1979. Which means he's in the Metallica/Iron Maiden age range. So there's actually proof that musicians in their 50s can put out GOLD! (I had never seen this before).
The production is near *perfection*, if this were my album, I'd be proud as f*ck to release this. Even the minor imperfections in the performance make it more 70's than some of these retro bands lately that are playing way too tight.
It's one of those albums that gets better and better and better each time you spin it up again. It's rich and deep.
Get in on vinyl before it's gone. 20 years from now, you'll be thanking me.

So I look up Satan. WTF. (see Tanith above) -- the 1983 album has crap production.
I like the 2018 album for sure...
Much better album cover... (which used to matter!!!)

I want to thank you for posting about Orchid. I had never heard of them before and checked them out based on what you posted. Holy shit!! Like you said, it's like old (Ozzy era) Sabbath continued writing and recording and I am loving everything I have found from them.
I grew up a metalhead and graduated high school at the height of metal in the 80's. Back then I only listened to metal. As I've grown, I have broadened my horizons and listen to a lot of things from back then that I wouldn't have touched when I was a teenager. But I still enjoy my hard rock regularly. Some I can only take in small doses nowadays which I used to be able to play constantly back then. Iron Maiden for example. I love them still, but can only take Bruce's voice in small doses now and Steve Harris's galloping bass line in every song gets a bit repetitive... lol. Still, I have undying respect for them as a band and what they have done.
One band that was probably the most underrated 80's band and is still around (minus Dave Prichard, RIP) is Armored Saint. I have loved them since their very first album and just saw them live again a couple of years ago. They still have it and their newer material is great as well. Supposedly they are working on another new album.
And a little fact, John Bush actually was asked to leave Armored Saint and be the lead vocalist for Metallica way back in the day when Metallica was in their infancy. John turned them down out of loyalty to his bandmates (but years later joined Anthrax). This is what could have been:
My favorite hard rock/metal band from the last 20 years however, is Volbeat. I love that band and have seen them live about 6 times now. Every album they come out with, even if at first I am unsure, just grows on me and I love just about everything they have put out.
And then Five Finger Death Punch is a close second favorite band in the last 20 years for me...
Totally impressed by these new tracks from Sweden by Crazy Lixx and Hardcore Superstar. Back catalogues are super as well...
