Unfortunately it's the only option sometimes.
Quoted from GnFnR:Just bought the LE! I donāt know much about pinball but I love me some Guns. Iām glad this forum exists because Iāll have a million noob questions for you guys Iām sure. The man cave juts got a massive upgrade!
Congrats! A new game is exciting.
One caveat: do not accept delivery until you inspect the playfield on the game before the delivery driver leaves. Refuse delivery if you see defects.
Quoted from PtownPin:How does that even work? I've never heard of anyone unpacking the game and inspecting the play field while the driver sits there and waits?
Yeah, well we've also never heard of manufacturers sending out defective products and expecting buyers to just accept them either.
If you're buying from a distributor, tell them you are not accepting delivery unless the game is defect free.
If you're buying the game direct from JJP and you're dealing with a 3rd party shipper like a moving company, tell them when they contact you to set up the delivery that you will be inspecting the item for defects when it's dropped off. If they refuse to allow you to inspect the game while they wait, then refuse the delivery, ask for a refund on the game, and purchase from a distributor.
Or, take the risk and get a defective game and try to get restitution later through the warranty process. Good luck with that, however.
Quoted from Yelobird:More so has there been a Single picture of a game unboxed that had pooling or chipping? Don't think so. That doesn't happen until a few dozen or more games are played and the posts are smacked on. Then any issues show up. Looking at a new in box playfield will yield no value or result.
It may be too early to tell with GnR, but I distinctly remember a distributor telling me that aged inventory with Wonka had problems right out of the box.
Quoted from Bmanpin:Ugh I hate reading these stories. Especially when I am out 10gās with nothing in hand yet. Itās getting close to Halloween but donāt scare me.
But that's the past, and not likely to happen again. JJP is currently building to order, and demand for GnR is high. I don't think we'll see aged inventory in that title for some time to come. So it's not really an issue at the moment. They still have the ability to stop the line and get ahead of it. At least I THINK they do.
Quoted from zaphX:That's because in my view we've identified the issue and potential workarounds. What else is there to say? What's the point of 1000 "me too" posts?
You can log out of Pinside. Problem solved. Go play your pin.
Quoted from jarozi:Found this today in the bottom-back of the cabinet. Nothing malfunctioning at this point. I've been in the cab several times doing other things and this screw wasn't there, so pretty sure this isn't just a loose extra.
Any ideas where it might have dropped from?[quoted image]
The assembly line, most likely. I had like 6 spare parts inside my machine that had no home.
Quoted from screaminr:I hope he wasn't offended by the take it to the " I'm sick of hearing about the playfields thread "
It was genuinely meant in a lighthearted , tongue-in-cheek way .
A few people were pissed , even after it was explained that it was a joke , I get it , but that's not going stop me from trying to have some fun and lighten up the place .
Sometimes we can all get a bit too serious about what's meant to be a fun hobby .
Although , there's nothing funny about art work coming off your playfield .
Jjp needs to come up with a better solution than buying your game back , which no one wants to sell , because it's such a great game .
It's such a pitty these Playfield issues are detracting from such a awesome game that Eric has made .
Whatever. He dished me on the daily, every time I posted something to bitch about my issues with JJP, he trolled me immediately. Once he started getting some static back because of his behavior, he took his ball and went home. Grow thicker skin, the internet is a scary place sometimes.
This pretty much confirms it - JJP is just silently implementing mitigation measures to minimize the damage to the crap Mirco fields. Whether or not they're using the info they read here on Pinside (oh, you KNOW they're reading Pinside all the time, right?) or they are figuring this stuff out on their own, I guess we'll never know. Because they haven't said a peep about anything.
But know this: any of you who are sharing your fixes for things and those fixes get used on the production line, you are essentially "working" for JJP without getting paid. They are basically using Pinside as a crowd-sourced supply of brains and info on the cheap.
That's nice.
