Hi all, I’m still a bit of a newbie, I thought I’d share a few of my cheap little mods, if anyone is interested, hope this is on the right thread

First one was a GNR 3d belt buckle, I grinded the little pieces off the back to make if flat, and stuck it on over the printed logo , it was $25 aud
The 2 x les Paul’s guitars , either side of the buckle were off eBay $16 each ..

Third one, is the skull on the left ramp covering the black sensor cap…
$12 for the skull and $6 for about 5 mini roses from a craft shop…

I made a cardboard templet that fitted over the cap, and then use a dremel to cut that out on the bottom of the skull,
Added a bit of extra black on the eyes and teeth, used the smallest drill bit I had and drilled 2 holes in either side of the teeth
And feed the rose thru it, and gave it a coat of clear coat… ( as the skull is hollow I had to put a bit of material packing inside
Just to make it up just right…) so for less than $20 I covered up that ugly senor. ( I will one day, wire up some green leds in the eyes)

Fourth , used one of the mini roses to cover up the wiring on the right side near the not in this life time speakers .

Five , from the same craft shop bought a pack of 6 stick on roses flowers for $5 .
Covered up the top of the spot light in the bottom trough near the flippers, and a couple other places

Six.. I was struggling here in Australia to get some mirror blades for my machine, I had a feeling if I ordered them from the US , by the time they got here they would of been damaged.. and was told by a few other that would more than likely be the case..

So I ended using silver / chrome wrap , I think it works quite well. It’s not as mirrored finished as polished aluminium, but it gives off a nice
Reflection and easy on the eyes , without having to wear sunglasses ..lol ( so I’ve read with the mirror blades)

All up, for less than a $100 bills, I’ve got to add a few personalised touches to my machine …

Nice touch man,
Top value and looks great !
I would love to see Slash top hat on that skull.
Very cool, well done.

Thanks mate, yeah the skull just sits nicely just underneath the glass, no room to spare..
And I see your in brissy as well..

Thanks for the heads up on the mirror blades mate, I went and picked a set up last week from KJS,
Kurt was so friendly, even let me have a go of his mad max custom built machine..
And Wow the blade look just absolutely awesome, and easy to install ……

Quoted from screaminr:

Excellent , they look great , did you use the little screws .
Maybe consider getting some blade protectors to keep them shiny .
https://www.rtbb.com.au/product/cabinet-game-blade-protector-set/
rtbb are currently out of stock but pinball life also has them.
[quoted image]

Yes I used the screws and double sided tape he gave me…
I did read a few other comments about what a tight fit they were,
but I can still lift my playfield out, without them interfering .

I know, dumb question but does that mean with the protectors
If to keep them shiny, do I have constantly put them on and and take them off
When I play ?

#22498 1 year ago
Quoted from mikepmcs:

No. They are only used when you remove the glass to lift the playfield.
Just make sure you have them on there every time you intend to lift the playfield. This will keep your playfield from rubbing on the cabinet sides and destroying your artwork or mirror blades.

Mike

Thanks mate.

Hi all, thought I’d share another little minor mod I made up, that needed that personal touch 25ABA77A-8DE0-4A09-B585-7AF359BE8C4A (resized).jpeg25ABA77A-8DE0-4A09-B585-7AF359BE8C4A (resized).jpeg.

That's pretty cool! Where did you get that piece, or did you make it from multiple parts?

The gun I got off eBay , and The rose and leaves was from a craft shop , and made it from those couple of pieces
The only thing I did do was use some black wrap and cut it out to the same Size as the original sticker, to cover up
the original print, as it didn’t look right..

I know in America there are miniature guns called micro six guns…. Just don’t know if they are resin or metal thou…

Quoted from R_J_K:

I went with four red solid flippers with black bands. With these my flipper power is at 21 on both. When I had the stock flippers my power was 27 or 28. These are heavier than the plastic so they have good mass to hit the ball and that probably why I had to turn the power down. Even at the default power level I was launching the ball off ramps and getting airballs. The upper playfield flipper is a little shorter than original with a more rounded tip. Seems to play fine though. I'd be curious how the lighter Halo's perform, but I prefer the look of the solids and they were cheaper. I do recommend getting a set, even if its just replacing the two main flippers. If I wasn't doing all four, I would have went black. I love the look of the red, so I replaced all four.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Hey mate, these look awesome, I love the colour combo, red with the black band, don’t know about others but my original bands are more of a pink then red…, how are you finding the smaller flipper thou, is my only concern, or maybe I should go the 3 set of black ones with red rubbers and just leave the mini one as is.. cheers

#25218 11 months ago
Quoted from R_J_K:

I just ordered a 2 1/4" red mini flipper bat to replace the 2" one I originally bought. I screwed up when I originally ordered and assumed the 2" was the correct one but when I received it I noticed it was a little shorter than original and had more of a rounded tip. It looks like the 2 1/4" is the same shape and size as original. The original bands are pinkish, but the Titan silicon ones are a nice red. I debated between doing black bats with red bands like original or reversing it. I thought the red bats would look good and went with that and glad I did. Replacing the mini flipper isn't necessary. The original plastic works just fine up there. Personally, I wanted them to match, so I ordered the set of three and had to order an additional bushing, extended shaft, and bat to do all four. You'll have some decisions to make such as solid or halo, what color to go with, replacing 2, 3 or all 4, and if you want to upgrade to the keyed shafts. I did have some slip originally, but I was able to tighten it enough to prevent the slip. I know some had issues with the original clamps not able to tighten enough and had to go to the keyed shafts. There's not a right or wrong answer but rather preference and how much your willing to spend. I think you'll like the Precision flippers regardless of what you choose.

Thanks heaps for the info mate, I do like the red bats it looks like it really pops, but I’m leaning slightly towards the black solids, for the only reason I was thinking, i can always change the flipper band colours easier than the bats, with either a light green / red / yellow for a quick easy change of scenery..

Hi guys, some advice insight please, as my GNR is my first pin, and absolutely love it, not as strategic as some of you, my aim is have fun, a few bourbons and enjoy the music..

Plus I have spend hours reading up on the posts ( and still going) awesome stuff, just a massive wealth of information that can be shared with everyone, thank you all….
I have realised I need to keep up to date with the posts, and start reading regularly, caus e I don’t won’t to miss out on anything…

Ok, my question is, if it’s allowed ( and I’m not here to shit can other pinballs) I’ve got a opportunity to get a kiss pro machine, don’t know about
You guys in the states, but here in Australia they don’t show up for sale very often, they are like rocking horse shit..
Was even looking at getting one imported..

I’ve managed to play only a couple games each, at LZ pro and the Iron maiden (Pro , I’m guessing) .. conmpared to the GNR , I thought they were pretty lame, ( might have been the atmosphere at a local pup…). These are bands I love and grown up with….
I’ve never played the kiss machine, Do you think it’s in the same league as the lZ and IM...

And is there must difference between the pro and premium models
any info would be appreciated.

Thanks all

#25230 11 months ago

Thanks guys for the response, but now I’m thinking the premium is the go

#25232 11 months ago
Quoted from allsportdvd:

I’m in Brisbane too and Kiss isn’t as rare as you might think
I have an IM premium and only about 15 mins from you if it helps
Ranking the 3 you mentioned I have to agree with Pinmonk
IM (any model)
Kiss (has to be premium)
LZ a distant third

Thanks mate, yeah Kiss stern was my original want, but couldn’t find one, Then came across the new GNR which really caught my attention, so we ordered a LE , as this was my bday present from my wife… and its just a totally out of this world awesome game for my first pin, I absolutely love it, but as you do, Ive always looked out for that elusive kiss pinball, that got away, Ive. only came across 1 about 4 months ago, and was snapped up, and now this pro model….. but glad it was elusive as I wouldn’t ended up with my GNR, hence why I asked , maybe feel I’ve raised the expectation bar a bit high for the other games, basing it on GNR..
maybe I wasn’t looking in the right spots or the right contacts in the search for kiss.. ( actually had no contacts, was just asking everywhere …lol)
Ive only seen these 2 stern kiss that had/are being parted with….

Chers guys

#25239 11 months ago
Quoted from screaminr:

You're in luck , there's a NIB LE on Gumtree
[quoted image]

Thanks anyway , prob just a bit more than my budget, unless I part with a kidney to make up the funds…lol
It seems any of the sterns LE / JJP CE, are like double in price compared to the mid range models…

#25253 11 months ago
Quoted from screaminr:

It gets better than that
[quoted image]

Just ridiculous, people believe that putting stupid prices on things makes them more desirable , or are seeing $$ signs in there eyes, it’s everything thou , old cars and even car parts have sky rocketed …

if anyone does stumble across a reasonable priced KISS premium in OZ please let me know, that would be much appreciated .

Cheers again everyone

#25259 11 months ago

Has anyone else got the Freddie’s mix colour plastic protectors for their game … definitely worth it.
Honestly the pic doesn’t do it any justice, they really change the whole atmosphere of the
game…..

Also Just wondering has any changed the top “backstage” plastic, to one thats completely clear,
Without “backstage” written on it., as I don’t want to wreck the original one….
For me I find it annoying as it blocks your view..

#25267 11 months ago
Quoted from brooklynknight:

I just got my GNR and my PinWoofer arrived as well as my hyperlights. Looking to install both this weekend and supper stoked to see what both add to the game! With these plastics, how painful was it to install all of them? Did you have to remove ramps ect? How long did the entire install take. THese are very interesting to me as they do look fantastic in the pick on thier website.

I installed majority of mine pretty easy, but you do need to remove the bass ramp and upper playfield, it really wasn’t that hard,
Just as a safe guard, before removing I took a video of all around the upper playfield as a reference point just in case I got stuck..
All the others were pretty straight forward, upper playfield took me a few hours as I never did it before and was taking it slow and easy
So I don’t stuff anything up… but in saying that I forgot to tighten some screws up, once I put it back together, and then being an expert it took me like 10 minutes to pull apart and tighten the screws.

have a link for these?

You’ll love ‘em, honestly so hard to capture that wow factor in photos , they are 100 x better once you see them in person,

Hi guys, only recently my ball was going SDTM from the scoop, why only now, who knows? , but it did put a dampner on the game, but I remembered reading someone had posted about putting a couple of washers under the scoop mechanism so it sits a bit skewiff, so the ball would favour more to the left after popping out of the scoop, I’d like to thank who ever that was, it works a treat, no more SDTM, and as a whole, thank you all, it’s awesome as a pin community that everyone likes to shares tips n tricks to help others out…
