I spoke with Mirco this morning and he said there are a handful of playfields that didn't pass the quality control. He didn't say why this happened, but all others are reportedly fine with the new process to secure the ink and clear better. He demonstrated this in his recent video at Expo on a Spectrum reproduction playfield (Bally, 1982). I specifically asked about the CEs going into production and was told they are fine, and that all LEs have the same new process as well. Time will tell how they hold up. Melissa at CT told me that her two LEs that have been played extensively are fine. I'll probably wait just to make sure, but this information is encouraging.

#1586 3 years ago

That’s all he said.

Quoted from mof:

I can't help but wonder what his statement mean to you when you heard it?

I'd be speculating, as I didn't think it appropriate to press on the details. He has some new process for the playfields. Is it a different type of ink, or UV lighting to make the clear cure? I don't know and he wouldn't tell me anyhow. I've had a JJPOTCLE playfield with this issue and received a replacement, which went to the new owner. I don't want to do that again. But I've owned a couple of other games with Mirco playfields that are fine. He mentioned that he would post something on this soon.

Is the playfield lightshow different on the CE? I was under the impression that the LE and CE had the same lightshow but the CE attract mode seems to have more LEDs. I know the cabinet has more lighting on the CE. I stared at that JJP website screen at release, considering a CE for hours, and didn't pull the trigger mostly because I love the look of the LE art. Now that some unboxing pics are coming along, not sure I made the right choice! The CE is beautiful.

Quoted from jhoward1082:

Playfield lighting is the same between CE and LE. CE has extra RGB LEDs under the cabinet, backbox and topper

That’s a relief! When I saw the attract mode over in the CE thread, I thought oops, shoulda gotten the CE

I'm in line for an LE soon, but am not sure after watching gameplay footage. The lightshow is impressive, and integration looks excellent, but frankly Dialed In seems like a better shooter, with more innovative mechs. Do you guys get tired of the heavy use of mulitball to advance through the songs? Maybe I'm just used to multiball as a reward for advancing rather than using it to advance, but it seems a little chaotic with this strategy. Thanks for any feedback!

Just unboxed my GnR, getting it into the home really made a difference to see how great this game shoots! I really like the use of multiball now with some time on it. Question: the higher range seems a bit distorted, can’t find an equalizer in the settings. Is there an amp I can adjust somewhere?

I'm 100 games into my GnR and love it! Favorite JJP to date. What do you guys recommend for protection? There may be a little pooling around one straight post, but no issues so far that I can see... PBL post kit? Cliffy carbon fiber? I'll probably pick up a spare playfield for down the line, so I guess I could just play the game and not worry about it.

Quoted from Vespula:

No issues doesn't equal "may be a little pooling"
Try heat and a PETG washer, no metal washer..read this:

No issues as in chipping, but I understand over time that can happen, and have seen it on Pirates more than once. Maybe I should rephrase this, do the new posts make a difference?

Edit: just took a closer look and not really seeing much of anything. My last Pirates chipped at one post after 42 plays, so I protected it. I’ll go PETG or carbon fiber just in case. It looks pretty much like this, a little pooling around one washer up on top but otherwise good, maybe it had longer to cure as it sat in a warehouse in until recently.

Amazing game, will pick up a spare playfield for art and down the road if needed.

Quoted from Vespula:

So I've seen this type picture a dozen times or more on this forum. It doesn't get better until you use the methods in that post by warming it up so it goes flat and then putting one of those clear PETG washers on top of it with no metal washer. Tighten to just snug.
Leave it like it is and it will probably end up tearing.. So you want to get it now...

Thanks, but the warming iron appears to leave circular impressions in the clear. I’ve had enough experience with a few Pirates on this that I’ll sort it out, maybe with petg and posts where most likely to be a problem. Kinda less worried about it these days but figured I should do some mitigation just in case!

I’ve owned GnR for a month now and it is simply next level. The word sublime comes to mind as I play it, add Pinwoofer and it becomes epic.

Added some more of Matt’s art to the game, flipper toppers that match his sculpts and the rose shooter rod, looks great!
