Quoted from zaphX:I believe they are already protected, pinball_keefer mentioned something in a stream about it.
I asked during the stream, and Joe said they had extra clear to prevent wear.

Just picked up a GnRLE. Previous owner only played a few games. I'm getting auto plunge issues. Ball launches automatically without me initiating to shoot ball. I read tech posts about taking sensor board off. Connections are cleaned, no fraying. I used q-tip to clean sensors and inserts. But, still getting auto plunge to fire on its own. Bad board? Other ideas on what to do or check? Thanks.
Quoted from Vespula:So did you take the sensor board off?
Sounds like you read this post:What's your firmware?
and
latest, 1.25LE software installed if that's what you mean. Yes, I did take off sensor board, reseated connectors, and cleaned sensors, and inserts. Called JJP. They put test into shaker mode and revealed shooter switch issue. He told me to check a specific wire. I did and it seemed to be fully engaged. Reseated and still getting auto plunge to "auto plunge" on every ball.
Thanks, yes, I would not doubt a new board is needed. I have tried all the fixes everyone has stated and the sensors and auto plunge issues continue.

JJP Tech sending me another skill shot sensor board.
Reporting for duty...
I originally had a CE, but now have an LE. Like the red package more. Can't stop playing, and that's from a guy that's not a big music fan or care for heavy multi-ball.
Like some have reported, I had auto-plunge issues. That was fixed (so far, 2 days of playing) with a skill shot sensor board replacement. UPDATE: 2nd day of playing, auto plunge issue came back. See picture of error. I went to test/matrix and pulled out white interlock to test shaker. Turning on shaker reveals issue with switch 100 "Shooter Lane 4." Notice it's flashing.
I have to do a few of the basic fixes like cliffy for scoop and skill shot gate fix.
My most pressing issue is I get a black screen every so often during gameplay. Looked through tech index and didn't see the issue fix listed. Any ideas? Thanks!

When I plug or connect the sub, it causes the shooter sensor board to auto plunge. So, if you have auto plunge issues and have an external sub, maybe you might want to disconnect and see if it remedies the issue.
Quoted from KingBW:Use the Pinnovators gizmo for connecting to the external sub. It isolates the ground.
I forgot to mention, I do have the Pinnovators gizmo and I still had/have the issue. So, my first two days, I did not connect the Polk Speaker and Pinnovator connector. So, for the first 2 days, no issues. Based on first two days of use, thought it was safe to connect up Polk Speaker and Pinnovator connector. So, step two I connected speaker. Worked for 1 day and then on 2nd day, 1 sensor (switch 100) on skill shot board started acting up again and I get auto plunge occurring. So, another issue with board or maybe a bad Pinnovator connector?

Looks like I generated a lot of comments and discovered many folks had or have auto plunge issues, too. I have talked to JJP tech several times. The first check recommended by them was connectors. In my case, I had several sensors acting as if they were registering a "hit." I could see 4 or 5 sensors "flashing" by going to switch matrix. Thus, auto plunge triggered. As I mentioned, I had a Polk sub with Pinnovator to prevent ground issue. Still, I had problems with initial board and was sent 2nd board. The 2nd board is only acting up for one sensor now. JJP is sending me a third board. Hope that helps some folks as they trouble shoot.
