Quoted from thechakapakuni2:

So I have good news, bad news, good news, and bad news.
Good News: You pushy CR2032 drug dealers got another sale and I decided to reluctantly go ahead and change out my bios battery.
[quoted image][quoted image]
Bad News: The battery fell down the hole and right into the pinball machine
Good News: Didn’t beat Rolls-Royce 200MIl yet.
Bad News: Got close only after a couple games with the new code & settings. Your score isn’t safe
[quoted image]

1. Chaka I’m glad you did that… that jumpstart was a low blow for me, but I have my lesson learned

2. About beating my 220’000,000 Million (Chaka please, took me 3 years to achieve that)… so Chaka…
IMG_1047.gifIMG_1047.gif

3. Keep me clean and polished that Bally’s KISS … it’s mine.

Quoted from Shmilder:

Where’s the link/ instructions for the battery replacement procedure ?

Go to jersey jack pinball website. Download the Willy Wonka manual. Page E.5

It's in manual Butch Peel did. Not in GNR manual. Not sure of other ones Butch didn't do.

Super easy. Behind the monitor is the big silver box. Take that lid off and you'll see the battery.

Get some duct tape (cut it to 1/4 inch width, 2" long), fold 1/2 of the length over onto itself to create a handle...use the sticky side to put on the battery.

With game ON, gently pry out the old battery...tape will keep it from falling and makes it easier to grab.

Then, replace with new battery and button up the silver box. Then mark inside the game (coin box) the date you changed it.

Edit, LTG posted before I could LOL...great advise!

This is the way. Here is a pic of the cover and 4 screws. There’s an LED strip attached to it so just be careful when removing it to not peel off the strip. Get a towel or something to set it on while you change out the battery behind the cover

Thanks for the added notes Chaka, I forgot about the led strip.

Anybody have an interest in some Holograffix art blades? I bought a set but ended up doing mirror blades. $100 shipped in the usa.

Here's the link to the original listing.

So when does your GNR arrive?

Whenever the distributor who sold it to me makes a trip out to Pittsburgh so I can take advantage of free delivery. Hopefully in a week or two.

At least you know you get a big catch when you get back from fishing.

The gate over the shooter lane doesn't always catch the ball on my game, any advice on how to rectify this or is this normal? Seems like it takes 2-4 launchers per ball for it to catch.

Go to post #14792. Can also find it in the FAQ's.

Having a problem with the upper right flipper only. With the flipper button held in, the upper flipper will flip itself several times then drop, while the lower flipper will remain in the hold position as it should. I have checked, adjusted, and cleaned the button cabinet switches and tried adjusting the EOS switch on the upper right flipper, but no change. Also adjusted both the flipper and hold power--both by bumping the power down and bumping the power up--but no change there either. Any ideas?

trying to replace teh battery on my GNR. I got the back glass off, but not sure how to move the large screen. In other posts, I can see that it looks like its on a movable arm. Do I just pull harder, or do I need to remove some screws?

#29121 65 days ago

Pull hard. The magnets are really strong.

Yep
Grab each edge, you'll see PULL HERE stickers on the monitor edge, and pull!

Anyone else have their game brick. Just turned on and nothing. Driver board lit up bit nothing happens. I was replacing the memory batteries and go to turn on and bricked ? Anyone ?

This question comes up a lot. I've never had it happen but it's an acknowledged aspect of JJP's design.
You most likely need to "jumpstart" your pin. Search this thread for that word (yes, it's not the obvious word one would think of). There will be info that matches your motherboard closely.

However, generically, look here

Flipper problem solved. Turns out it was frayed, but not totally disconnected wire to a lug on the coil. Reflowing the solder fixed the problem.

I got the screen moved. Now how do I get the battery out? I tried the tape trick, no luck.

figured it out!

With a little help from this video.

What settings emulate eskaybees' from 2 years ago, after latest update. Do you keep settings the same or do you need to change some after thus big update?

It's the same. Your settings won't change with the update.
There's some additional settings added to the code but that's all.
One of them you may be interested in will disable stacking booster Multiballs.

In case you didn’t notice this little cheat Strat. When you play a song and it gives you the option to cash out. If you want to maximize the album level, esp If you are close to completing the album and you want to cash out, wait until the time gets to 1 second before cashing out. The album keeps advancing even in the cash out screen with the ball in the lock. I noticed this and never took advantage of this prior. Now I wait evertime and even got album leveled up just from waiting. It’s fair game so why not?

I didn't know this but I like waiting the time countdown anyway for a rest, and if towards the very end of the song I've been in the scoop and waiting and had applause jackpot light up just as the timer was about to reach zero more than once. That's pretty sweet.

Only downside is, if you're trying to collect the extra ball by lighting all 9 inlane lamps, you won't earn that if the Applause Jackpot lights up before you cash out. This comes into play particularly if you're trying to qualify Want To Play A Game from the Chinese Democracy song. The applause jackpot lights up around 3:05 into the song, so there's a very small window to actually cash out and still light the album.

I'm now officially a GnR LE owner.

I was thinking I'd get the Herculease but these flippers are already really nice and snappy! I'll need to keep playing before I make a decision.

It already has some art blades and the topper. New flippers.

And most importantly, the scoop doesn't drain STDM. It makes a HUGE difference in the game to be honest. If I ever hated it on location, it was because of that god damn scoop.

#29139 63 days ago

Really happy for you, Chuck - I could tell from your previous posts how much, deep down, you wanted this. Enjoy!

#29140 63 days ago

Just made my first repair. I guess I'm now an official pinball owner. Hahaha. Metal piece for the scoop went flying off. It was shooting way to the right so I'm thinking it was already really loose. I reinstalled it and then it shoots STDM. I went ahead and adjusted it and it hits the the end of the left flipper now which is suitable.

Did most people here do the washer fix in one of the bookmarked posts?

#29141 63 days ago

The washer trick works a little. I don’t think it’s a silver bullet but if you already are getting the tip of the left it may move it a little more

Did the washer fix earlier on and haven't touched it since. Still works well. Mid left flipper.

I love this game you guys.

I think it's more than suitable, but it should dead bounce to the right flipper.

Congrats!!

#29145 63 days ago

Welcome to the club!

It is an epic game and the experience you get from it is really like no other pinball machine.

You made a great choice and you got it at a great time with the code updates and flipper coil upgrades.

So the big question is when are you getting a couple more machines?

#29146 63 days ago

Is your code updated to 3.02?

It definitely does not dead bounce to the right flipper. It hits the tip of the left flipper and drains. Looks like I'll be doing the washer fix.
