Quoted from Vespula:

We got my mom's husband (88 years old) up the stairs last night to show him gunner for the first time... . He reminisced about playing pachinko back in his youth...

Looks pretty good for 88. New GC?

My GnR CE lost almost all high and medium output from the speakers. At sound level 30 I hear almost no voices or sound or music. Just a lot of bass.
Soundbar on top is already disconnected.
Any advice? Where to start?
I used to have a active sub hooked onto the bass speaker. I switched this sub off since I don’t need any extra bass at the moment.

There’s an amp in the backbox, I would start there. Mine came unplugged and I lost audio on my POTC.

The thread is really dying. We need a real code update. It’s a shocking failure in product and company strategy. This is not the 80s or 90s. These are Wi-Fi enabled computers. But maybe they think the game is done, and there’s nothing to improve upon.

If that were true, they wouldn’t be doing beta updates, nor would they post on fb for owners to ‘have a little patience’. In due time, but the wait is torturous.

Don’t worry about this thread slowing down. I’m still playing my GNR. Just rearranged my whole game room for The Godfather and shopped almost everything that hadn’t been done in 200 or so games. And the springtime weather takes precedent over indoor activities for me so I’ve been limiting my play to rainy days, which we’ve had little of. I also did a test stream playing GNR yesterday. So I’ll be ready for more of that soon.

#25558 3 months ago

We are the opposite into the colder days now, and more inside activities, I have been playing it a lot lately, I am just not that good at it to comment on anything tactical wise, but nothing has gone wrong with it so there is that too!!

Also my magnet that started working again is still working.

I’d say we represented well. This tour just started. I highly recommend this show, it will be a blast and your game experience after the live experience will only get better.

Nice! I'm going August 26. First time I've seen them since the appetite for destruction tour. Axl looks a little different now.
I've got that same shirt lol and I'll be wearing it too.
Thanks for the pics!

Haha I was thinking that while they played night train. The video art is all pinball-ish and it crossed my mind.

Persistent Center Scoop SDTM -- any silver bullet fixes?

Recently acquired game has persistent near SDTM eject tendency after repeated adjustments AND adding washers under playfield. I have repeatedly adjusted scoop for perfect eject alignment into left flipper, but it continues to revert to near SDTM eject after a dozenish games.

Scoop screws are also stripping due to very awkward access angle, so appreciate any guidance on perma-fix, especially with very mixed feedback on bending scoop as well.

Thanks!

Quoted from rcjones:

Bamboo skewer and wood glue. Put glue in hole, shove bamboo skewer in. Let dry. Trim off skewer. Good to go.

You might have to remove some stuff above it to do a good job.

Tightening mine was enough to end SDTM shots.

I'm beginning to think JJP doesn't care! Is the world record but a code update being in beta trying to be beat? Never mind, I think Pirates is winning that race.

I want to give a shout out to everyone in this thread.

It was incredibly helpful to search multiple topics on upper playfield removal, how to (un)install my Cliffy center scoop, and everyone’s Cliffy experiences as I thought I was the only one having issues with the center scoop.

My center scoop Cliffy protector was lifting off the playfield surface when the tab was screwed down, but when I unscrewed the tab, it would pop out into the scoop, not allowing balls to register.

I removed the Cliffy and went back to the OG protectors. It’s a much smoother experience now and all balls register.

Thanks again for the help everyone! It would have been a painful process without your information.

They are great shirts. Err on the side of going bigger. I’m in between a L and XL when it comes to tshirts, and the GNR XL is a snug fit

Edit: JJP shirts are my favorite tee’s to wear. They are nice.

#25581 3 months ago

If you're talking about the JJP pinball store here, i have it and skb is right. It runs small. I got xl which usually has some give and it's now snug. My tag says next level apparel and it's 100% cotton. Definitely get a size up at least. 2xl is the biggest...

Thanks for all the input!I think since I’m usually xl I should probably get the xxl.I’m being careful because this isn’t Amazon Prime.

I fixed my very annoying Sdtm center scoop problem by building a bit of a base on the right side of the bottom of the scoop using ….strips of duct tape. This makes the ball sit slightly tilted , and now it shoots to the left slipper. I tried the screw tightening washer thing first but that didn’t work for me

On the topic of constant code updates, I understand working thrru the initial kinks is a must….but once a game is mature , how can the manufacturers constantly provide updates without new revenue….has anyone in the industry consisdered selling updates as a subscription….ie, they work on something new and worthwhile and we pay for it….or even open it up for third party hobbyists to sell their updates….

#25586 3 months ago

Hello gang....I have a problem, the scoop does not register. I have tried matrix switch test and pushed the switch down with my finger but it does not register on the screen.

Any advice on where I go from here. This is my first Pinball and I am a total newb.... Thanks

I'm not a jjp tech anymore. But back in the day I'd turn the game off. Put a meter on the switch, and see if it works. If not replace it. If it works, check switch matrix in the manual and see where the wires go and check other switches with the same color wires for a broken wire or solder joint. And check it's connector on the I/O board in the backbox, to be sure it is on tight.

I had this very issue and the problem was a bad/incomplete solder connection. Got a replacement switch with wire harness attached from JJP and all works fine

I don't think anyone is asking for constant updates but just for a big update to finally be released and one that doesn't sit in beta forever. It's now been 20 months since the last code update was released for the game. Customers paid upwards of $12k+ for these games and deserve to have the code properly completed and polished. The lack of polish updates for this game is also causing it's resale value to tank. Releasing more code is an "easy" way for JJP to generate new game sales and create customer goodwill for future purchases.

JJP can choose to no longer support a game and or not to polish it after seeing hundreds of customer complaints, that's fine, but they then have to accept that such action will upset some customers and those customers future pinball dollars will go elsewhere. That's what happened to me. I could have spent $12k on a new JJP Godfather LE but nope, that money is going towards a Godzilla Premium and the main reason why is because of the code support situation at JJP.

Thanks for replying. Put a meter on the switch, not sure what that means, a combination of language barrier and my barrier of understanding Pinball I guess . I did hear from my local community (Pinball Brothers) that I should check the backbox. Have not had access to the machine until this weekend. Will try my best!

Same thing happened with me, I got a new switch just in case but plugging and unplugging the switch in a few times somehow fixed the issue.

Played a single game today. Down to ball 3, finally start the first song, November Rain at 115 song level.

Cashed out at around when Slash does his solo for 40,000,000 and extra ball plus I got one when the song started and another at 42,000,000 so all of a sudden I had 3 extra balls. Had more hood boosters then into Chinese Democracy with 195 song level, got it up to 199 during the song. Got applause jackpot and my score was around 136.000,000 and 4 extra balls now.

Had encore max song level and blew it instead of cashing out for 10,000,000 and another extra ball. Then blew all the other extra balls getting another 33,000,000, ended around 179,000,000.

Well when they were here last year in The Netherlands he was kind enough to send me this picture via Eric wearing the shirt i gave him when he signed my playfield and apron. He did wear it in Clisson at hellfest as well so he is wearing his pinball life proudly as well.

Please go into Tests - Switches - Matrixed - toss a ball in see if it registers on the screen and then clears the error.

If it doesn't register check the switch in there. If an opto see if one side popped out of the bracket, if micro switch, check for broken switch arm, broken wire, need adjusting stuff.

I have a July '21 LE that I bought about a year ago. The shooter spring is too strong and anything but the tiniest launch passes the skill shots. The spring is green and I'm assuming someone changed it from stock.

Anyone one know the correct color/strength?

Go to Marcos and buy the multipack for $6. It has all the colors and you can choose the one you like. You can dial in a weak spring by slightly stretching it to make it stronger

#25600 3 months ago

Pinball Life lists these lowest to strongest :

Blue (266-5001-05)
Green (266-5001-04)
Standard (10-148-1)
Orange (266-5001-07)
Purple (266-5001)
Gray/Silver (266-5001-14)
Red (10-148-2)

The GNR manual has a generic name doesn't specify strength. So your green might not be the right green if it's too strong.
