Quoted from bankmansam:Can't believe they would chime in and say it isn't cost cutting. This game has gone from 9500.00 to 11000.00 they no longer make the nice manual, but not done to cut costs. I guess it is just word play done to maximize profit.
I am sorry for voicing my well-founded opinion. Bottom line is that GnR manual wasn't done by Butch and therefore it isn't like the manuals for games 1-5. If you mean cost cutting in the sense of not printing the manuals (the manuals still have to be written anyway), that I cannot say.

But why isn't the GnR manual even finished? Why still have section headings for content that isn't there if the manual is considered done and won't be finished?

You answered that already yourself. Barry left. He was doing the manual. We now have a longtime friend (and NJ JJP employee) doing the game 7 manual and after that I assume he will be working on the GnR manual updates.

Well actually YOU answered it - the GnR manual will be finished with updates after the game 7 manual is out. That wasn't known to my knowledge. It's been a long time with no updates, so it's good to know it will at least be finished.

Is there a way to unlock the 5 album without collecting all the patches in the game? Just wonder if you could do it in the settings?
Quoted from pacman11:Is there a way to unlock the 5 album without collecting all the patches in the game? Just wonder if you could do it in the settings?
Huh? There is no fifth album.
If you want to unlock patience it's only one patch.

Oh okay gotcha, I thought there was more songs besides patience. Does it matter what patch?

Pretty sure it's the "Lies" patch.
I wish on the song Patience that it would spot the keyboards. Otherwise, getting band frenzy is only up to luck if you have the fender patch.

Hey did anyone install the magnet fan? Now my magnet apparently must be sitting a hair lower on the playfield so the ball sit there blocked on the edge of the playfield and wont roll off on its own when the magnet turns off.
Solution May be obvious to some but wondering if I just torqued the two screws too much and "pulled" the magnet a mm below the playfield? Or maybe they aren't tight enough, and the bracket isnt sitting flush to the bottom of the playfield...
I plan to check it out and lift the playfield this morning, as I am burning tilt warnings to free the ball but wondered if anyone else had this experience installing the magnet fan?

The magnet core's height is adjustable.
Loosen the large nut, turn the large bolt in the center with a large straight-edge screwdriver to move the core up or down, the retighten the nut to lock it in place.

Ah! Thanks. Always easy when you know the answer. Going to do this now...
Happy to report it was just a matter of tightening the screws on the bracket with the fan down A LOT as in mega tight... They were tight but apparently you gotta crank those or the magnet is too low.
Note to other fan installers....
It's good to go now.

Or just tighten them the normal amount and adjust the magnet core as above.
This will prevent stripping the magnet's screw holes in the playfield as well.
Quoted from PghPinballRescue:Simply loosen part 4, then adjust part 2 in or out to the desired height then retighten part 4.

Nice work my friend

You don't need to adjust the height of the core when re-installing the assembly with the cooling kit. The two most common mistakes are cocking the core in the playfield hole slightly so it FEELS like it's in when it's actually slightly below even and/or not tightening the screws enough to get the core back to even with the playfield.

I just clarified the installation note to the reinstall step in the instructions so others don't get hung up with this pretty common issue. Thanks.

Thanks to all. The nut bolt fix was not the right solution in this case. Maybe if it was low from the factory yes, but in my case I caused the problem installing the fan on the assembly... and so simply getting it seated back properly and then tightening screws A LOT got it back to where it was flush before the fan install was the key.
Side Note on the nut/bolt adjustment - you need two wrenches- one to hold the nut in part 1 so you can turn the other nut part 4. If you dont hold the lower nut on part 1 you will find that the entire assembly will crank and move (and eventually cause harm) due to how tight nut 4 is which would cause damage. Nut4 is a tight mofo. This is what caused me to abandon this recommendation and check the seating and tightness of the screws again. I found the assembly to be just loose enough that when I fixed that by loosened the screws and reseated the assembly and then tightened the screws VERY snugly that I got the extra .5 mm of height that I needed so the ball falls gracefully into the X lane again.
Great assistance from everyone. Thank you! Glad I could help with instruction revision as well as learned the magnet core is adjustable!
So I'm thinking of purchasing the LE version and I'm new to Pin's. Is is worth it if I can get a brand new LE for $9800 + freight? I'm a huge fan of the group and I love the look of the pin just not 100% on playing. Since most of you guys have some looking for some honest feedback.

That's less than the 11k retail if it's nib. Which I consider a great deal.
That's a big investment for never having played it before. I'd go dump a couple hundred bucks in one on location. That'll give you a good idea. But if You just want to roll the dice and you got 9800 bucks I don't think you'll have a hard time selling it if you change your mind and you might even make a dime if you don't start dumping mods into it Right away I'd make sure you're going to keep it first.

I can't find 1 in my area to go play or I would. Hence why I'm reaching out here. I love me some pinball and plan on keeping this for a long time.

I'm totally biased but it's the best Pinball ever, you'll get a lot of gushing on the owners thread.
If you got the bucks do it .. even if you change your mind you've got to experience it in your home for as long as you wanted. Its my first pin and I am just a casual player (not good) but getting better. I love mods and working on it almost as much as playing it. Like GnR music and the more lights the better. Multi-ball rocks. The ruleset is so great and so many ways and strategies to play that I'm just scratching surface. The risk and reward is great and there's enough satisfying shots to keep me coming back for more. Not to mention 21 songs all beautifully choreographed, wizard modes if you want a change of pace... a beautiful work of art pin ..both on and off... I just broke 1000 games on mine since November and while the rules are the same, every game is different experience... it's bolted to my floor.

There are nearly 5000 of them now so I find that hard to believe
Have you tried looking at Pinball Map or even Scorbit? both list machines close to you

I bought a GnR but didn’t get around to opening. Decided after a few months to wait for MGC and checked out the GnR in person. Compared to Rush, Godzilla, Valhalla- GnR wasn’t for us. Maybe it is too difficult, Godzilla more accommodating- I don’t know. The background guitar sounds of Godzilla are what GnR should sound like. GnR is a wonder of design- but definitely play before you buy. GnRCE ad coming soon..

Technically you ARE an owner... I guess. Include a pack of washers with your sale.

Check with Little Shop of Games, they had one set up to play and for sale last time I was there.

Yes - ask for Marshall. Good guy and our distributor
Reseat the video cable first. Check both ends (the monitor end and the PC end).
Then check the small ribbon cable inside the display that connects the LCD glass to the control board.
The ribbon should be flat and pushed straight into the connector.
If it is crooked, release the ribbon by sliding out the 2 locking tabs on the sides, push the cable back in, then relock the 2 tabs to secure it in place.

Thanks , I had to reseat the ribbon cable last time when it went black , it's just weird it's now white and when it does show pictures they're very pale .
Quoted from screaminr:Do you know which import it goes into in the back box .
Download the Willy Wonka Manual. Should be similar. Page D-84 and D-85 have the motherboard pinouts. Should be easy to find the video ports.

Awesome, will do. It's a little bit of a hike but much closer than Orlando. Thanks for the heads up. I did use pinball map and didn't see anything. I don't think I looked out as far as little shop of games. But I've tried to them in the past.

Maybe that helps You understand how the ribbon cable connectors work.
Also since that just HDMI cable as long as you've got power going to it I guess you could plug anything with an HDMI cable into it if you had a long enough one like a Roku to see if it still works with a different source.

Thanks mate , I could see if the signal out is working buy figuring which is the HDMI cable out from the back box .
The cable to the LCD screen is way too short plug into anything .

I was thinking more unplug HDMI currently in the monitorand plug a different HDMI cable or Roku or something like that whatever has HDMI out into the monitor so there's a different source going into it

Did you try reseating the connector in the backbox? It’s the vga looking one next to the main monitor hdmi

Hook another monitor to it if you have one. If that one works then you know the small LCD or the board with it is bad.
If you don't have another monitor, see if the big one for the game has a VGA port, then run a cable to it.

Ok. Had the game since November. Sometime by Christmas I achieved my GC of 26mil and haven't been able to break it since... Tonight I got out ta get me and went in with 107 song value. Everything going right and the new thing here is o got two band frenzies and the balls really seemed to like to hang out in the pop bumpers when that happened. I always had multiple balls going almost seemingly never draining in the zone. I knew applause jackpot was coming soon... Adrenaline, down to one ball made my objective shots, in the center scoop went green.. two shots later I nailed it cashed out for extra ball with a 66mil jackpot and finished with NEW GC of 71,9mil ... THAT'S SATISFYING.

Nice!!!! I would have held out for the applause jackpot tho (unless it was not qualified at the time) and went into encore with a crazy adrenaline rush going haha

Thanks guys . I will have a look at it through the week , I will make a better way to hold the Playfield out of cabinet , such a pain in the ass to get to .
Quoted from Pinballpal:Nice!!!! I would have held out for the applause jackpot tho (unless it was not qualified at the time) and went into encore with a crazy adrenaline rush going haha
That was exactly the ten second decision point I was facing when I hit the scoop.. Just like I'd faced many times before.
I thought about it for 6 seconds or so, while I was still At the point my heart was racing cause I knew how this game was out ta get me... Also in shock I'd achieved that amount and staring at the largest jackpot I've ever had... I folded and took the GC. I ain't gonna lie. I did face regret on that decision when it was all over and I stood there with my new GC playing out the "what if" scenario and thinking how awesome it would have been to go into encore after claiming that 66 + million as applause jackpot!! I still stand by my safe decision to cash out on this one.
The reality of the punishment this game serves from being too greedy is very well known And I was already too psyched out by the size of the jackpot to play with a cool frame of mind. If the jackpot had been lower I'd have probably gone for it. A man's got to know his limitations.
Maybe as I get familiar playing scores like that a little more often I won't mind risking it Like I do with the lower scoring games when I'm in the same situation ...where I usually do add a ball and go for it.
What a game!
