Don't need the factory piece. Dont know on rubber, probably common on pinball sites like marcos.

Quick disclaimer: I haven’t heard the whole interview. But my 2 cents:

I was ok with my chipped playfield as I was able to protect it and cover it with a washer (mad at first, yes, but good overall). I am ok with buying a replacement pf at cost ($500-$800 2x playfields + shipping) for peace of mind - although how much is it going to cost if I ever need a swap? Certainly not doing it myself, not on a JJP game. I have had good overall customer experience with JJP - they have addressed every issue I’ve had in a very timely manner. I am overall satisfied with GNR and JJP. But….for jack to elude to the fault of playfield issues on ME, as if it’s my fault for the playfield chipping because I played the game?!? Now that ticks me off a bit. I did nothing to my game to modify, I did not add 3rd party washers, posts, or any protection. It chipped on its own merit after about 600 plays in home use environment. I am the only one who plays the game. All in all, whatever…love the game and the team at JJP, but I would have felt much better about the whole thing without hearing that comment from Jack.

Anyway, back to GNR. I’m not in the beta program - has there been any real updates lately or just beta? I think I’m on 1.22. Don’t recall seeing a real update hit in months. Hopefully they’re trying to squash a lot of bugs at the same time of adding a lot of polish and balance.

Just received LE 1864 about an hour ago! It’s already missing two leg bolts! I hope I have some spares or it’s gonna be a long weekend

Hardware store, might not be acron head but you can find a couple bolts that work. Or leave one bolt off of each front leg, so you can put in new ones easy. Just don't get real rough when playing and you'll be fine.

Well, here are some pics of my powder coating, game is not totally back together yet, just put all the cliffys on, I did the habit trails too because the factory chrome looked like absolute garbage.

I prefer the chrome habit trails as they came from the factory but there's nothing wrong with what you did either.

Oh I would have too, at least on mine the quality of the chrome made them look like cheap plastic parts. Had they been nice looking I would have left them alone

Got to get those leg bolts heads powder coated or color matched now. Looks great though. Once complete Id like to see the game lit up with white hotrails on showing those habit trails.

It's very odd. JJP used to crank out code updates but that hasn't occurred in years. Pirates owners are still waiting for a final wizard mode and that game was 2 releases / 3+ years ago...

I remember the days of massive WOZ updates dropping monthly. Same goes for The Hobbit during its final few updates. It's just odd seeing GNR, JJP's flagship game, receiving very few substantial updates.

For Pinwoofer owners did you install the anti rattle tape on your Invisiglass? Does it matter what side of the glass it goes on? I'm not sure if the anti rattle tape adhesive would cause any damage to the Invisiglass glass.

Hey PanzerFreak - the GT electronics minimize most of the terms that give rise to glass shake, with limits, so we supply the glass tape.

I recommend putting the tape on top. The only reason being less friciton on the tape itself from the weight of the glass when taking it in and out, so the thinking is that the tape will bond longer.

IG is a bit thicker than Tempered Glass so I recommend taping just one side (left or right) and first try that for fit so you don't end up with a tight glass. If it is too tight, abort.

The tape adhesive is acrylic and neutral Ph (7 +/- 0.1). I can't imagine glass being even remotely sensitive to it.

Installing the tape made a very big noticeable difference for me. I would recommend it. I installed it on both sides (I had extra from another mod), but top side is minimally what pinwoofer recommends.

Wanted to do something a little different so went with these mods. For the snake skull, it’s heavier and won’t work with the light brown spring so experimented with the tension on a few different ones and decided on black. Feels right & can hit the skills shots no problem. Enjoying the game.

The switch gate on the entrance to my left ramp keeps falling off. Have slightly bent the RHS lug but still falling out. Going to try and bend it even more so it’s at right angles. Any other ideas?

Such bullshit.

Completely tone deaf. Blame the owners for screwed up playfields.

And here he is almost 2 years ago, with a smug answer to someone's questions about the PF issues on Pirates and Wonka:

He says they identified the root cause of the problem and what the fix is. Obviously not true.

Tired of the BS. I'm officially out. I just got off the phone with my distributor and canceled my GnR LE order. Sucks. Not just because I wanted this pin, but I *really* wanted Toy Story because of theme. Zero chance I order that without proof they have fixed the PF issues, which does not seem likely.

I had to use it on both the left and right side due to a little bit of wiggle it had. I put on the top side on each and now there definitely is no rattle at all. Didn’t cause any issues with the glass or being able take the glass off.

For what it is worth I bent my wire ramp entry a bit. This was still not enough.

Then I used a small pinball rubber and impaled it on the end of the wire to keep it from popping out.

So far that has worked and was a lot easier than bending the wire!

That was my next solution. Was actually thinking some household sealing silicone would work also, but at least the rubber can be removed easily.

For anyone wanting to make their own Mylar rings for posts, it’s super easy. Don’t want to tread on any vendors toes here. If you live in the US and you’re only ever going to do one game or only doing a couple of posts on each game, it’s probably cheaper and easier to buy a couple of packets of the stock ones from Yelo or Pinmonk. But living in Australia or Europe, freight is super expensive and very time consuming. Nothing worse than getting half way through proofing a game then running out of the right sized Mylar ring and having to wait 4 weeks for your order to arrive.

1. Get a Mylar sheet. Usually sold by the foot from Pinball Life or Marco. 1-2 foot would make 100’s of rings, but always good to have some extra anyway.

https://www.pinballlife.com/3-mil-clear-mylar-by-the-foot.html

2. Get a couple of circle punches. Usually from a craft shop…. In Australia I got them from Lyncraft. But there must be heaps of sellers in the US.

They come in lots of sizes and shapes.

I just got 2 sizes - 15mm/5/8” and 25mm/1”. Served the purpose for all my Wonka and GNR posts.

Here’s an example of what you’re looking for…

https://www.lincraft.com.au/craft-essentials/papercraft/punches?p=2

4CCD0197-C093-47BE-9D4F-CBE64541B298 (resized).png4CCD0197-C093-47BE-9D4F-CBE64541B298 (resized).png8F60F809-AE29-45D0-B97A-BACCE4E447D9 (resized).png8F60F809-AE29-45D0-B97A-BACCE4E447D9 (resized).pngAB0BD239-CF4D-4B72-B289-77B639621594 (resized).jpegAB0BD239-CF4D-4B72-B289-77B639621594 (resized).jpegC78BF2E6-F97D-42C6-A383-4F1507C4F0BE (resized).jpegC78BF2E6-F97D-42C6-A383-4F1507C4F0BE (resized).jpeg

3. For the smaller rings, an ordinary household office hole punch which most people would already have…..either a single or double punch. For the larger 25mm/1” rings you’ll need a office punch that has a deeper or adjustable gusset.

12EAC531-2B83-4A6E-9362-E065CF752B42 (resized).jpeg12EAC531-2B83-4A6E-9362-E065CF752B42 (resized).jpeg

Or something like this for the Centre of bigger rings:

https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/keji-1-hole-plier-punch-ke1hpplier

800BF5B8-4B95-4C3B-A214-1A28FFF19398 (resized).jpeg800BF5B8-4B95-4C3B-A214-1A28FFF19398 (resized).jpeg

4. Best to make the rings in reverse to how you think - cut the small inside circle first, then cut the large outside circle. This allows you to line it up and center it easily.

Punch a row of inner circles far enough apart to allow for the 2 outer cuts. Doesn’t have to be too accurate- I just do it by eye.

Just use one side of the double office hole punch if that’s what you’re using.

A381EE95-9901-49B5-B9BD-134EC174698A (resized).jpegA381EE95-9901-49B5-B9BD-134EC174698A (resized).jpeg

5. Most of the circle punches have a slide out bottom that is transparent so you can see what you’re cutting. Open the slide out bit and turn the cutter upside down. Position it over the pre-cut inner hole so it’s centered. Cut the ring. That’s it.

Doesn't hurt my feelings. I'm happy to supply them, but these are labor intensive to make a lot of, so if people can DIY some for their machines, it's more power to them.

Absolutely. And of course you shouldn’t do it for nothing. Honestly, if you’re in the US and you’re only doing one complete game or a few posts in each game, it’s likely cheaper and easier to buy yours (or other) pre made ones.

For sure. Buy Yelobirds - his packs of them are dandy, too.

This is one product I shed no tears at all about someone else getting the sale for. I make them as a service, but they are no fun to make. The only thing I offer that YB doesn't is three sizes of rings, but the 3/4" one is the best for most circumstances anyway and we both sell that.
