I’d rather have flipper flow rather than back handable left ramp. I say lower them parallel to the guides. Plus, being able to back hand left ramp can really exploit the rules as well as make the game easier.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I agree with you, I set mine lower. When watching the stream of Eric playing his GNR, it seemed he was backhanding the left ramp with ease. Maybe its just personal preference.

Mine came from the factory without the ability to backhand at all and the left flipper was perfectly aligned to the rail..Honestly it made the right ramp way too easy...I tweaked it just ever so slightly upwards and now I can make the left ramp backhanded, but not easily enough where it's a gimmee and it adds a little more of a skill shot to the right ramp and orbit...For me it is the perfect blend, neither ramp from the left flipper is too hard or easy...I also boosted the left flipper strength +2 and the machine is set 6.5 deg (I usually like them steeper like 7.0 on my JP) but the sweet spot seems to be 6.5 and top bubble touching second line. YMMV

Congrats but please keep a close eye on the posts during the first 50-200 plays. Not to be a Debbie Downer but mine looked like that straight out of the box as well. Just keep monitoring and get after unwashered posts the first sign you notice anything. I really hope you don't and all the games here out are awesome... I would recommend inspecting every 10 games at the beginning. You will love this pin...It just keeps getting better every time I play it

I plan to remove all posts and install PETG washers on all posts before playing a single game. Will also be super careful not to overtighten the posts. I’m considering freeze spraying and removing the factory Mylar as I don’t care for the way it looks. I’ve never really needed Mylar in any of my home games and they don’t get played that much.

I also have a full set of Cliffys and his carbon fiber disks on the way. Not planning to use the Mylar circles or Titan washers on this game even though I ordered them. Even if the playfield develops issues, I still plan to play it like I stole it!

Quoted from darkryder:

Be VERY careful. Blue loctite melts plastic. If it oozes out of the threads and up to the playfield or onto a petg washer you'll be in worse shape. They make a loctite that's more like superglue and does not melt plastic. I'd ditch the blue loctite idea. But if you HAVE it have it, use the other kind.

#10755 2 years ago

I’ll ditch the blue loctite idea since the posts already use nylock nuts. Over tightening the nuts is half of the problem. The person who built my GNR knew what he/she was doing and everything is spot on. Nothing overtightened and no chipping or pooling whatsoever. I’m still going with the PETG washers for peace of mind

Just an opinion but as there is are fairly known issues with adhesion (ink) on these playfields I'm not sure I would test my luck on using freeze spray on to remove the mylar. Again just an opinion but that would be a costly test if it goes wrong.

LE 640 delivered and Playfield is beautiful. Build date 5/21. Were these mini metal washers on the posts installed on earlier runs?

The two posts near the pops don’t have lock nuts and tend to come lose. I would only think about a tiny bit of loctite on these posts

Congrats! What's your disty and order date?

Also wondering how does JJP do the numbering if we have two 5/21 dates but this one is 640 and the one darkryder just got is 1103 ?? That's at least 563 in one month?

#10764 2 years ago

I ordered in mid-late October

#10765 2 years ago

What fooflighter said. Put a few hundred plays on it over a few months and then report back.

The thing is, at this point, JJP can’t fix the problem. Changing something and fixing the issue is basically admitting there is an issue, which they won’t do. If you think it’s crazy in here now, imagine them fixing the issue and not providing earlier orders with the fix. (A new play field)

Maybe they will fix it for their next game.

Quoted from darkryder:

LE 1103 is flawless, I guess I lucked out.

Is there anyone else still waiting that purchased in October? I purchased through cointaker Oct 13th and have heard next to nothing. I ask when and they just lie and seemingly make up dates that come and go. I've heard good things about cointaker but I'm not impressed.

I ordered October 20th and have not heard anything.

My buddy and I ordered from Cointaker in October. He ordered his 10/7 and I ordered mine 10/16 and neither of us have heard anything yet regarding shipping. When I hear that he received his invoice I'll report back. To be fair I was told in October not to expect mine until after May so I understood I was in for a long wait.

More than likely Cointaker is a very big distributor and are only allocated 5 at a time like every other distributor. This is why your waiting longer than others.

If that's how JJP is handling distribution, then it makes zero sense to ever go with a larger distributor.

So, here is some information for those who want to recreate it.

The original thread is here in German, I hope google translater made it correct

https://www.flippermarkt.de/community/forum/threads/topper-fuer-den-gunner.235622/#post-1888755

Here we go...

JJP implemented the RGB lighting on the playing field with WS2812 LED strips.
These are connected with three lines, + 5Volt, GND and a data line. These two 3-pin connections can be found on the playfield board under the playing field.
On the left you will find the connections Rail L and Rail R, these are the ones we need, here you can tap the data bus. The white wire on the plugs is GND, green is data and the red one is + 5Volt. We will not divert the 5Volt here in order not to overload the electronics of the JJP, we will do that later with a separate power supply.
1622818124998.png

1622819744829.png
So now we know where the data line comes from, so we only need to think about what to do with it ... a
simple test is to connect a piece of WS2812 LED strip. So connect GND and data to such a strip, + 5V comes from the power supply unit described later. You can find it on Amazon or anywhere else, I bought 5 meters for 30 €. The following is important! If you connect such a strip, it has "Data in" on one side with arrow> to the LED, this is the right side to connect. The other side is data out and cannot be used for this. The length does not matter at first, just cut it to the length of a topper or the backbox and you're done ...

1622817875020.png

For the topper, I simply put four strips (each about 32cm long) and the connections with data in always in the middle. Two are angled at the front in front of the topper and two between the plastics. The left two strips were connected to Rail L and the right two to Rail R of the playfield board. So the effect always comes from the middle to the outside ... The two strips behind the backbox are glued directly on and then connected to the Rail L and Rail R again with GND and Data In. Here I put the "Data In" down, the effect then comes from below ...

1622821003926.jpeg

1622821064250.png

ALL stiffeners still need a power supply of 5V DC. For this purpose I took a small Meanwell 5Volt 5Ampere power supply and connected it to the strips at GND and + 5V. In contrast to the data lines, the GND connection of the strips is the same at both ends of the strips, so it doesn't matter which end you connect the + 5Volt power supply to.
You can get the 230V mains voltage for the power supply separately from a socket, or stop directly from the pin from the backbox.

I mounted the whole thing on an extra plate and attached it to the backbox with two screws, as the Lexmilton topper provides for attachment.

Finally, two red LEDs (just put on the 5Volt) in the skull and that's it ...

⚠️I hope that helps you, I would like to point out very clearly that you act on your own responsibility and that it is very clear what for hobbyists, who also have a little electronic understanding ⚠️

Greetings
Ralf

Is your skill shot sensors working correctly? They have a known issue with that board because of some blind soldering spots that can cause issues with the sensors on that board. Go into the sensor settings and see if any of the sensors are red like in pic. You might be able to just recalibrate or reseat all the connectors and it will go away

Got my LE yesterday. Build date may 2021. Black washers on the slings, metal washers on other posts. Everything looks good so far. I'll be adding cliffy cf washers when they show up. Few small issues, had to adjust the shooter lane switch. One of the sling switches was in front of the rubber.. The artwork is wrinkled near one of the hinges. And the diverters in the guitar necks are stiff, so the ball hangs up there some. Other than that, seems to be playing well.

That's a shame about the wrinkled decal. I have a little bit of that around my left flipper button. Man that's an awesome looking room you have there too!!

Extra height from the black washer thickness is likely the reason the sling switch slipped in front of the rubber...

So on my dad's machine when the ball returns from the left orbit it hits the top of the left sling.
On my machine, the ball goes gracefully past the sling.

What should I do on his machine to correct this? I feel like possibly slightly bending the rail on the left orbit might do the trick but not sure if that's the best approach.

Loosen the first bolt under the ball guide and push it hard towards the middle of playfield. Might need to wedge a screwdriver for leverage. Then retighten. See if that works. If not also try loosening the second bolt and repeat process or use some needle nose pliers and bend the end of the ball guide towards middle of playfield

That seems so odd to me. They earmark 5,000 of these games but likely won’t sell that many. So someone could draw game 5,000 but there might only be 3,000 made. Someone will call that game rare and sell if for $40k lol

I'm going to guess they don't have access to all 5000 plaques in production lines. Maybe they are in boxes of 250 or 500 and they could have multiple open at a time depending on how many stations there are That could explain how 640 is shipping in the same month as a 1121. Then again, you could be right. These are the questions that keep me up at night

For those still looking for a solution to keep the ball from hanging on the lower right bumper and post I cut one of these into a half moon and stuck it to the bumper skirt. Pushes the ball just enough to keep it from getting stuck and it won’t wear like foam. For the last 200 games it’s worked well. No ball hangs and no wear on it. I bought them at Home Depot.

If you wondered how important it is the start a song mode by locking 6 balls I would say it’s important. First ball I maxed all the multi balls except Lights and that was 3/4 of the way to maxed. Locked 4 balls and started the mode. Song level was at 50. Not great. Not a great jackpot opportunity either. Got 8 or 9 million.

Next ball I did not start a multi ball but locked all six balls and the mode started. Song level was 115. Completed that song and the encore was at 150 for song level. Huge jackpot I lost when I drained out pushing too far. 28 million early in the song.

I did not change the songs automatically selected either. I am not sure how much impact song level has but when I am in the 100s or more I often get 15 to 25 million for jackpot opportunities. I don’t always collect them but that’s what’s there.

When I have a mystery spot me band members and auto start the song modes which gives me song levels of 40 I can complete the song and only get a 1mm jackpot.

Moving forward I am going to focus on starting song modes by locking six balls and see what that does for my scores. It was not a focus in the past but will be move if forward.

So many ways to play this game it’s endless.

What works for others to put up massive song jackpots?
