ST LE #488 was delivered yesterday; ordered early and never wavered... unboxed to find a six inch GASH on the left side of the cab. It's still strapped on the pallet in the middle of the room while we wait for a reply from Stern. I'm told best case it will be weeks before this gets resolved. big expensive paper weight at this point.

We also have a new MET Premium that has a defective Snake jaw that's never worked since it's been unboxed. We're still waiting for a resolution on that for over a month.

The irony of working the wife to get the toys and they're already broken….

I've given up on Santa for 2013.

Quoted from Concretehardt:

Devastating!!
I assume the box damaged when it came off the truck?

No.. box pristine.. I'm told it likely has something to do with the packaging process at Stern. Apparently, I'm not the only one.

I was pretty jaded last night.. now i'm settling into a calm annoyance. I've resigned myself that I won't be playing this year.

Did the box show any signs of damage???

Box came pristine. I'm told there have been others with the same gash in the exact same place as mine.

If you get a chance please post a pic of the damage

Nice… pinball rubbernecking… pics on my other workstation; will post for your critique.

I'm waiting to see how they want to handle it.. for now i'm told to keep it strapped on pallet...

There's actually a 4th option considered...

Quoted from Mycal:

Complete refund and send it back?

4th Option: Ship it back and have the cabinet repaired and shipped back was proposed.

Quoted from Eskaybee:

At whose expense? (Meaning shipping expense) yours or sterns?

5th Option: Send a local guy in FL to strip the machine and re-decal. Let me know if there's anyone local that's got the skills and wants that job.

However, most bets are on it going back to Chicago.

COME ON QC 9K PIN? Really where did you pull this number from??? Dude get your facts straight before posting.

Q.G is padding for pain and suffering…

I think the shippers opened it and put some time on the game!! It's official the Truckers like STLE! The game is very good enjoyable.

Yea… maybe they took a joy ride on my STLE; I thought it odd when the driver was pointing out the features of the game to me…

It would make for a good pinball spoof… an eighteen wheel game room.

Okay, send me your info. and I'll pass it along to Stern. Also, let me know your schedule.

Quoted from MrSanRamon:

After you take pictures, why not set it up and play it until they send you another?

Robert

They would rather fix it than tie up another machine with the same customer. yes, they could resell mine to another but few would pay retail for someone else's reject.

Then it's just a logistical exercise as to whether it's shipped to Chicago or a qualified local is found that can repair on site.

Therefore the pause while this works itself out. If it's to be shipped, it's best to keep the machine strapped on the pallet.
