Bill Gates is not losing money. His money makes money while he sleeps. The takeaway is he is spending large amounts of that money trying to help resolve worldwide health and poverty issues. Is he a saint? Of course not, but he is doing more than some billionaires to try and give something back.
My 17 year old goes back to school today. We had the choice to do remote learning instead, but he has been working all summer at a grocery store so has already been risking exposure.
Cases in our area are pretty low and our health officials support schools reopening. I feel we (me and my family, everyone else has to make their own calls) have to find ways to function somewhat normally with Covid being around. No one know when/if a vaccine will eliminate this disease and having a bomb shelter mentality for the foreseeable future isn’t the answer for me.

Yep. 30 million worldwide cases, almost 1 million worldwide deaths. The world is participating in a giant conspiracy to inflate the seriousness of covid. Why? US political reasons. Makes sense.

If wearing a mask was only about protecting yourself, then personal choice is fine. Do whatever, it’s your life. When it’s about protecting others then all the personal choice arguments become irrelevant.
Doing whatever you want with no thought or care for others isn’t freedom, it’s anarchy.
For those who would argue masks do nothing to protect others, read the post earlier in the thread about the peeing with no pants analogy. If that little bit of basic common sense and logic doesn’t convince you, then I agree with Gambit about what you can do with your choice.

I find it frustrating that some people still think that they can ignore all medical rules and recommendations with: “I’m an adult, I’ll risk getting sick, it’s no big deal to me.”
Newsflash to those folks, there is maybe a handful of people who give two shits if YOU die. The problem is this thing spreads so rapidly, and in a large percentage of cases from people who don’t even know they’re infected, that the ignorant fucks who willingly ignore this thing can end up being responsible for killing someone they never even met.
People who know the above and still won’t wear a mask are human garbage and it’s too bad the ‘rona probably won’t kill them. The ones who are ignorant of the above should take some time to educate themselves. Which if they haven’t by now probably includes them in the human garbage pile.
