I can't help but wonder what the real death toll was in China.

https://www.theepochtimes.com/the-closing-of-21-million-cell-phone-accounts-in-china-may-suggest-a-high-ccp-virus-death-toll_3281291.html

This article is probably bogus and I know this website is . . . out there but i wonder. Another interesting article.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8077787/Disturbing-black-rain-reported-falling-parts-Japan.html

Someday we will know the truth. I wonder if the truth would help us make better decisions today. sigh . . .

So thinking out loud. The banks Bet big on the stock market. That probably has not gone so well for them recently.

Every business out there is pulling everything they can from their line of credit to keep their businesses from going under. Which means borrowing lots from the banks.

Silver and gold have disconnected spot from physical. Try to buy silver at spot plus a dollar like normal. Not even close.

The FDIC (the people that insure your money at the bank) have enough to cover less than a percent in the bank.

A short time ago the FED cut interest rates to close to zero and injected lots of money into the banks. What you may not have noticed was the FED also reduced the liquidity requirements for the banks (they were required to have a bunch of money in reserve.) to zero.

Doesn't the margin call come for people that play the margins at months end. When do the banks have to cover margin calls on their stock market bets ?

Anyone else think the banks might be in serious trouble ?

The overnight swaps have been running in the 100 billion a night range for months now . . . and now they are in the 3-400 billion a night.

I'm definitely not a finance guy . . . so maybe "Situation normal here nothing to report " - Han Solo. But economy will not be recovering anytime soon and it looks like the banks are sucking pond water currently.

Just some thoughts.

Hey I'm sure it will end well . . .

I think one of the big problems forecasting the future is assumptions.
If the virus doesn't mutate into something more lethal.
If everyone does their part to reduce interactions.
If you can't get it again...immunity
If the vaccine they come up with is effective...like the current yearly flu shot.
If the countries that are not prepared at all can weather this ...storm.
So far I'd say pretty much every prediction has been off. Based on that alone I would say prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

Good Luck fellow pinheads!!

Best Article I have seen on the the virus : https://www.zerohedge.com/health/facts-prove-almost-everyone-wrong-about-pandemic

A buddy has a friend that works USDA food inspection. He mentioned there is going to be a meat shortage.

Another buddy has daughter that is nurse and she said they are seeing some unusual symptoms. Seizures, major freaking out, people not tracking at all. Could just be extreme fear but doesn't sound to me like the flu.

We live in exciting times !

Agreed. Anything we can do to reduce deaths and strain on our hospital system. Personally I often wonder aloud if a vaccine is even possible. But I sure hope it is!!
Based on how contagious this little beastie is, I'm not real hopeful that much can stop it. Plan for the worst, hope for the best.
I'm really kinda passed the Covid-19 problem. I'm starting to look at the effects of the secondary problems this thing is causing. Unfortunately our society is not setup to withstand many shocks. With a 3 day supply of food in major cities and a general lack of preparedness, both mentally and physically, we don't have a big margin for shocks.

I'm speaking in general...obviously pinballers are a special breed.

The problem solving engineer in me trys to figure all the angles. A lot of what is occurring is causing me slight anxiety as I don't see obvious or even "outside the box" solutions. However I will keep working the problem.

Vaccine is a maybe. But hopeful.

People are stupid and will do dumb things. (Present company excluded of course)

The big problem is all the people that have it, are contagious, and don't know they have it.

Unfortunately that little problem means we have to test everybody. We can barely test the ones that are dying of it.

That is FUBAR. I got a bad feeling.

Biggest thing to remember now is lead time.

The virus takes 2-3 weeks to show up sometimes. So anything today will not show up for a while. With states Opened up, cases will climb but they will not show on the stats until weeks later.

Same thing on our entire supply chain. Appliances, jeans, cotton material, tires, meat...all supply chain. Inventory is just about gone. Factories in China and India are closed or reduced from full output. Thankfully demand has fallen as well with many at home. The lead times have the potential to get nasty.

The secondary problems are going to begin to become issues. We get way too much of our "stuff" from other countries.

Prepare for the worst...hope for the best!

With the testing for this in the USA I can only imagine how great the vaccine rollout could be...

Seriously these guys could ruin a rock fight! ... Not lying

Masks are great. I bet big brothers facial recognition system is not working so good.

The difference between rich, poor...healthy, dead seem to revolve around something I call choices. Make good ones, this is not a pinball or video game. You don't get more lives or chances for another quarter.

Game over has a more sinister implication in real life.
